One of my best friends' sister (Carola Hanson-Ronson) married Mick Ronson and I met him on 2 occasions, as an amateur musician I played one of my songs when he tried to give my friend's sister Carola assistance in producing and promoting her and their co-written songs. Mick was such a down-to-earth guy and humble and patient. I was drunk one time in London during Carola Hanson-Ronson's record release and tried to make Mick introduce me to Paul McCartney but it failed and was very embarrassing for me to push him for. I only saw Paul at a distance when he left the studio.

Went to the Cleveland Show from North Tonawanda, NY (near Niagara Falls). It was an amazing and emotional show for my brother and I. We saw Ian back in 1979 twice and also a number of times in the last 10 years with The Rant Band. Listening to I Wish I was Your Mother, Walking With a Mountain, Honaloochie Boogie, Roll Away The Stone, Golden Age of Rock and Roll, All The Way From Memphis, the excellent Medley starting with Jerkin Crockus, One of The Boys, Rock and Roll Queen, Crash Street Kids, Death May Be Your Santa Claus, Violence and more was great. As a kid listening to Mott, The Hoople, All The Young Dudes and then buying the earlier albums in 1974 as a 14 year old and then to hear these songs live was a special night for us. Ian Hunter and Mott The Hoople deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Heck Ian's piano is at the Rock Hall right now. The one he wrote Cleveland Rocks on. Time to induct Ian Hunter and Mott The Hoople. Do the right thing!!!!

Unnoticed???? They sold out nearly every show on their brief April tour including the NYC Beacon Theatre where fans were standing the entire show screaming like teenagers and Ian was moving around the stage like he was 40 instead of 80. Clearly, Ian Hunter got super excited playing music with Ariel Bender and Morgan Fisher as "Mott The Hoople '74."

Ian Hunter playing at rock and roll hall of fame with Def Leppard, this mini US tour, and Uk tour is giving Mott more exposure, which I think is a precursor to their finally getting in the hall of fame. Long overdue. Mott the Hoople Live passes any litmus test for what is pure rock and roll in its truest sense.

Been wanting to know more about Mott the Hoople. Found this tonight. Oh happy me. EDIT: Yep, I'm back, 7-6-2022...so delightful hearing Ian Hunter speak about Freddie Mercury , how great Queen was with them on the road in the 70's and about the BohRap movie - first third wimpish. The best today was hearing him recall those days on the road ...'Fred was Fred 'wonderful', chuckled, said, not like he was in the movie. "Love you, Mr. Hunter" Yesterday my very own CD 'All-American Alien Boy' came from Amazon. Now gotta get the lyrics! I will!

Credit to Ian for getting through this so graciously. She never put him at ease and her awful interview style came across like a trainee researcher with a crib sheet. The questions never flowed or connected with the answers and there was little follow-up to Ian's replies. He could almost have said anything in response and she'd have carried on. He was even sat like a fairground coconut while she threw things at him. I'll bet the other guys were glad they missed this one. Sit him down with Alice next time to talk about the old days.

She wasn't that bad. She could have been a bit more casual in her delivery, though. She touched on the the Bowie and Queen connections but at least she didn't hammer it to death. We've heard the same old stories ad nauseam and don't need to go there again. Hunter didn't pal around with Bowie or Mercury. I think many fans and interviewers alike are surprised when they learn (not from this interview, however) that Hunter's last meeting with Bowie occurred in 1976. She was more informed than many interviewers who simply look at the list of well-known Mott/Hunter songs, the "David Bowie-to-the-rescue" episode and the Queen tour. For a 30 minute interview I was entertained. Thank goodness "All the Young Dudes" wasn't even mentioned. You know Hunter has been asked the same old questions 1000's of times. She at least attempted to take the interview in new directions.

Guys like Ian Hunter are as rare as truth from a government official and that’s rare, he made it out of the 70s relatively unscathed, I find him a frank tell it like it is sort of bloke but without being rude or like “well what do you want me to say” kind of kick, when you look at and listen to Ian Hunter he is like a moving shifting canvas of his life’s experience with him vs the rest and Mott the hoople…..also I have to say the song he wrote about his mate THE LATE GREAT MICK RONSON…..always and I mean always makes me cry because you can hear his pain his anger his frustration and his sense of loss in his lyrics it is a perfectly beautiful goodbye song…IAN HUNTER MATE YOU ARE FIRST CLASS and I admire your abilities as a musician/singer/songwriter and human being god bless and may you continue to be a breath of fresh air in the world of making music.

Really the "song writer situation" in Rock Bands..it's just not fair to the other guys going through a lot of the same struggle. I can understand the major Royalty going to the main songwriter who's sitting away working while everyone else are not..but some contributor royalties should really go to the guys who made the record "better by some contribution to the recording..or in the arranging..." Which usually is the case. On early Black Sabbath records I'd see songs written all credited to "Black Sabbath"..Anyway..Roll away the stone..

Jesus, this interviewer is terrible. Ugh. So obnoxious. Ian, great as always.

I was curious about this band and bought an anthology many years ago.I have to say that All The Young Dudes was one of my least favorite songs off the entire 2 discs.Never got into that song.Kinda boring.Honaloochie Boogie is great though.

I am ashamed of my city that Ian Hunter is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And for that matter, neither is Johnny Rivers, Joe Cocker or J. Giles.

Got into Mott back in '75. Learned my first song on guitar in 76, "One Of The Boys".
