Yulia gave an interview in Dec 2009 and in it she mentioned how her partnership ended with Max. It had nothing to do with creative differences. Max was just tired of competitive dancing and asked Yulia to following him into show dancing. She wanted to continue with competitive dancing and he wished her all the best. Shirley Ballas was their coach at that time, and Riccardo was her boy friend. Yulia asked Shirley if she could try out with Riccardo and that's how that partnership began.
I cannot believe they lost to Justinas and Anna which was not nearly so emotionally inspired. Even Anastacia was left with tears as the dance was complete. This partnership has lots of chemistry from the beginning. Not surprising that they are World Champions. And Yulia with Riccardo are World Champions. Happy for both couples.
It winds me up when I read all the comparisons with who's better, Max or Riccardo. They are both brilliant but an ocean apart as dancers and I can admire both. Here's my thing. When I watch Riccardo and Yulia dance I feel a sense of awe. When I watch Max dance with any of his partners I feel warmth and a deep sense of joy. Look some need the accolades, fame and whatever else comes with winning titles and others dance because they, through their own passion for dance, just want to bring happiness into peoples lives. That's how I see max and what I believe is his driving force. So I hope people will keep the comparisons in perspective.
Максим и Юлия замечательная и уникальная пара была, каждый их номер был ярким и неповторимым, тем что хочется смотреть и ловить каждое движение, как будто это спектакль, как история, и это шедевр и новое в парном танце... Уверена, они бы сделали яркую историю в развитии танца, но Юлия амбициозна, ей нужны были победы в мировых профессиональных конкурсах, ей не хотелось творить историю, а Максим творец, его поиски, его желание творить новое, к сожалению он мог воплотить всё это только с таким партнёром как Юлия, она не просто профессионал, она лучшая. Жаль, очень жаль что они расстались. Их планы не совпали. Ей нужны были победы награды и признания, а Максим обожествлял танец,настоящий творец. Все эти конкурсы скучные, в основном все танцуют одно и тоже, набор движений под музыку, а Максим и Юлия танцевали по настоящему, каждое движение было именно там где надо, не было лишних движений, танец был живой, а не набор движений. Сейчас её партнёр Риккардо, и да, они божественная пара, награды победы и признания они получили, но прорыва в мировой истории танца не будет.
@@magn8135 You outlined it very well. Maxim is truly a visionary. Whilst Riccardo is more of a strategist in some ways, and this is where Yulia leaned towards. They have one common love and it is the expression of life through dancing. But visionaries are very few on this planet, in any given industry. And Maxim is a unique visionary.

The reason Yulia said she and Max split, he wanted to do show dancing while she wanted to continue competitive dancing. With all his brilliant choregraphs, he could never satisfy Yuia's competitive spirit and give her what she wanted, a world title. I wish him the best with Anastasia and hope he can do for her what he couldn't do for Yulia. In retrospect his excuse about being tired with competitive dancing sound a bit lame - now that he is back competing. I'm happy Yulia got she wanted.
@Sasha Fernando. Max was good enough to dance with Beata and Yulia Zagorchenko. And his dancing and choregraphy was good enough to win a World Latin Showdance championship. I never heard of Anastacia before she starting dancing with Max. I think she is very happy to have his "half ass dancing"
