I own an Intex Excursion 5 and am hoping to do a similar thing to it, Awesome.
Just bought one too. There’s a guy on TH-cam that did a similar build this one. His vid was 2 yrs ago so I’m sure he was inspired by this brothers video.
@@MichaelMonsanto What is the difference between the excursion series and the seahawk? It seems to me that the seahawk is more suitable for fishing, it seems that the edge is higher.
This was inspired. Literally just bought a seahawk and was considering how to mod it for a portable budget fishing boat so this was good for the flooring idea

Bartholomew Alexis I hope you enjoy the boat they're really a fun the only thing is when you're on the water don't step to the side of the boat too much not it's not going to flip it just kind of sways a little bit and I'll knock you off your balance and you'll go over so just try to stay in the center of the boat

Lil Nero Promotion If you stand to the side it rocks a little bit but if you're not cautious it will make you feel like you're losing You're balance you can fall over but as far as flipping the boat will not flip It's about 4' wide I stand and walk around on itno problem

Hey I've got the same setup as u Seahawk 3 wooden floor bench seat and a table.except I'm still rowing for now.you should get an electric pump.you can buy them that hook up to your motor battery or get one that plugs into the car like I did makes setup faster and easier and you can vacume deflate it like it came in the box

I have a sea hawk 4 been thinking about a hardwood floor insert, do you inflate the floor section at all or not to fit the wooden floor, also what's the PVC pipe for that's fitted to the motor mount?

You cant just buy one you have to make them.....Its half inch plywood painted then wrapped in outdoor carpet with pipe insulation hot glued around the edges to protect the boat from punctures once I can afford a new camera I will make a video on how to make one

You have to make the floor your self that's not something they make for it

Boat: goes where you want
Usually a raft wouldn't have motor/ engine.

The smaller the the motor the better you dont wanna lot of weight in the boat and stay away from gas motors it will RIP that boat apart
hey what type of set up do you use to launch the boat by yourself. I'm just getting into one and trying to figure out the best hand launching technique. was considering getting a hand dolly. any advice would be greatly appreciated. awesome video btw I'm from queens ny and looking to get into long island lake fishing
I setup the boat right from shore as close to the water as possible then just walk the boat out a few feet then off you go

@@wendyvine9653 i just found the 3. 99 bucks. Not bad but by the time you add all the mods you could buy a bass raider kayak. But i just like the portability of this idea. I did one before of an 8 foot seahawk. Very stable. But too small for my liking.

To be honest I never really measured it I used a clear shower liner and traced the bottom of the boat use that as a template. I need to make a new floor once I can get a new camera I will make a video.
Do you know what's really cool about this kind of boat idea really cool you don't need a pickup truck you could put all that in the car including the board for the floor on the roof you don't need a pickup truck that is so cool on the cheap for sure I fished in things like this is fun and safe and electric trolling motors last a long time on a battery on talking from experience

I bought two seahawk 2 on special $41@ cause the boxes were damaged for emergency flooding
I like your Garmin Striker. It's on sale now so I think I will buy one. Just question about the Transducer.. Do you leave your "Danngling?" or did you glue it to the bottom hull..?
Michael Hadac it comes with mounting hardware but I took some pvc pipe and the hardware and mounted it to the back of the transom
I noticed you put everything in the back with trolling motor does that cause and problems with weight not being spaced out
No problems so far and it sits fine in the water I like having room to move around I don't like in one spot .... For instance when I'm on my kayak I can only go for a short period of time

At full speed 3 hours using it Moderately about 6 hours or more the lakes around me aren't that big so I real never worry a about it lol .. and thank you

@@NortheasternTV I think NTV means it holds the fishfinder transducer, and evidently doesn't get in the way of the motor propeller.

Yeah Inflate the floor about 90% and yes I made a mount for it

How do you keep fish in the boat that you catch so that they don’t puncture your boat? Is a stringer, a live well or an ice box
Long island waters are not the cleanest so I only catch and release but a cooler would work well
Only half decent review I've seen I'm 16 and looking for a cheap n easy boat just ordered, do you think if a big fish like a catfish if was thrashing around would puncture this raft or is it relatively thicker material?
Alex Robbins catfish I wouldn't worry about to much now the hook and Structure I would mindful with if I How to grade the material I would put it in as a medium grade I already had a few small pinholes in mine but super glue and avinyl patch works great

Yes it's better to fill it about 90% then install the floor I didn't do it just because I was trying to shorten the video
Hi, just looking into this setup (sea hawk + electric outborder) right now. How far (distance) does this battery powered setup go? ... we've got plenty of small channels around here, it would make a great daytrip boat. Thx
I had 3 to 4 hours on mine battery on and off I havent really tested to see how long it will actually get ... maybe an idea for my next video
You might be able to tell how long you can be on full throttle by knowing the batteries amp hours and the motor power.. you'll usually go further if you're not on full power, but slower. It's pretty difficult to tell how far in terms of distance. There are so many variables, inflateabele rafts get pushed around by wind, there can be currents and so on.
I guess you could use a gps to measure how far you can go on a full battery, but it wouldn't be the same distance everytime because of these many variables.

Depending on what size boat you get the floor will be a different size 1/2 inch ply will be the best its strong and not too heavy the seahawk 3 is mangled to hold three people but it would be tight it's better for 2 people the sea hawk 4 would be a better for 3 people
Just found this after watching many seahawk 4 vids,I bought this boat a few days ago and have now started messing with it.I dont really want a full floor at this stage and I have fitted interlocking rubber mats so do you think a rear solid floor coming to to around halfway would hold the seat/battery box? seasons greetings from Australia where its in the high 90,s for Xmas :)
dentray my only concern with the interlocking rubber mats would be that they're not sturdy enough they're still flimsy so with weight on the back and not the front you're going to get back in to get it deep into the water a lot I stick with the wood floor just cuz it's much more rigid

Sorry to get back to you so late you'll have to give me little bit O have to remeasure the for for you but if you're looking to make one don't go off my dimensions it's best to buy the boat inflated and trace the bottom to get a better fit
@@NortheasternTV thank you for getting back to me brother yeah that's what I ended up doing I filled it up put it upside down trace it on some see-through nylon but I didn't use wood I ended up using styrofoam boarding for insulation put some carpet on it doing the first test run next week I will let you know until I saw your video I didn't know the potential our boats have thank you so much

3/4 inch plywood for the floor and I painted it and then covered it In outdoor carpet

No For the video I didn't inflate the floor but when I'm out fishing I do it's definitely more stable with the floor inflated

Tristan Broussard I don't keep I catch and release only reason For that is because here on long island our waters aren't exactly to clean so I don't trust eating anything out of the fresh water here

I used a shower curtain liner and traced the bottom of the boat use that as a template to cut the ply wood to shape I would measure it but being that these are Chinese made boat I'm sure there not all Exactly the same so I'm a little hesitant on give out measurements

I deflate the boat fold it up and pack the in the car if I have to lay the floor over the passenger seat but it works

Awesome, thanks for the quick reply. I'm doing research into building a raft and I've already selected the intex seahawk 4. Gonna put a 3-piece wood floor (connected with heavy-duty hinges and locked with heavy-duty sliding lock pins), painted, attach marine carpet and then line the edges with 1 1/2 inch thick circular hide-density foam. Gonna put the battery compartment in the front and a low-sitting chair in the back.
Another question, when you're boating along do you sit on the battery compartment or on the floor in front of it? How does it feel sitting on top while driving, does it feel as though you could easily fall/tip over or is the center of gravity low enough when loaded up with gear and people so that it feels stable while going at full speed.

Jon Everyman88 Actually I do sit on top of the battery compartment it's a nice sturdy boat However if you put your weight to one side of the boat it will rock a Bit But it won't tip if If you get caught off guard when it rocks there's a possibility that you could lose your balance and fall over But I've never had an issue
