I had a 300l right at two years. Bought a 24 Africa Twin about a month ago. That made it very easy to sell the 300. There is “no way” you will do ten hour rides on the 300 with the AT in the line up!
did you go with the adventure sport or base trim?
I'm loving my base trim, other than it being in the shop for a week now :(
@@adventureundone, I went for the AS ES DCT, Installed a white front fender yesterday (yer idea) and I love it!
I’ve considered getting rid of my DR650 for something like the rally or a KLX 300. There’s so much hitting the market though, it’s hard to settle in any one bike. There’s a great renaissance in motorcycles at the moment.
the dr650 is such a great bike, I have owned 3 of them. But I really like track and features, so I would easily pick the cfmoto all day
You did lots of mods on the Rally , will you get over the new price of a stock rally ?
Here in Australia , a used modified bike with all the bells and whistles rarely get much more when sold than the stock ones , it’s pretty crazy but true .
It's comforting to see others doing what I do... perfectly fine motorcycles find new owners as a result!
I have a CRF300L Rally which I think I will keep until I die. 😊
My other bike for the past 21 years (bought new in 2004) is a CBR1000RR. Love that bike. Fast, handles like a charm. For the past 4 years, I’ve had a custom bracket made to put a top box on the CBR where the passenger seat would be. Givi 47 litres. NOTHING touches the paint work, no scratches on the CBR please.
So I pack 27 lbs of camping gear and go moto camping with the CBR.
Great fun. I’m always the first one at the campground. 😅 🤷🏻
Now, I know I’m getting older (48) but I’d still buy another CBR1000 IF they didn’t cost $37K here in my country.
I know I’ll never commit to crashing an Africa Twin over and over again off road (I know some guys say it’s only money, you buy another one when it gets beat up, but I’m on a budget and don’t want to work to buy the same item over and over) so I now have my eyes on the NT1100 coming to North America.
I know. 😔 It’s not a CBR and I’m so worried the power of the NT is going to severely disappoint me.
I’ve tried the Africa Twin (same engine) and I was not impressed with the power at all. 😢
But, I’m thinking, at my age, maybe it’s time to think comfort more than performance. 😟 Never thought I’d say these words.
My CRF300L Rally has a top box as well and I go moto camping with it also. Off road.
I think I’ve reached a point in my life where exploring farther places will become more important to me than speed.
It better be, otherwise I will be a very sad man. 😊
I am seriously considering putting a top box on my yamaha mt09 😅 I have already removed a ridiculously loud and expensive exhaust (that was installed by the yamaha dealership I bought the bike from) and I installed the stock exhaust back on the bike so I am not prone to following general trends.
I keep convincing myself that I need the storage and idk what the bike looks like with tje tip box.
Have test rode a NT1100 and own a Transalp…remember both are twins , so when not on the throttle , they both sound a bit agricultural .
Owned a rally and put 3500kms on it , great bike to go anywhere , and older people like me can pick it up when dropped .
It’s a tall bike , but can be lowered .👍
Was impressed with the NT on my test ride , very balanced lower seat height than Africa Twin , great windscreen , it’s not exciting though .
Compared to a sports bikes, but it’s a tourer .
Any update on the Africa twin rear light handbrake and cruise control issue pls?
Tks for sharing the issue and your great videos. Love them
I actually just pickled it up. they said one of the connection in the wire harness was disconnected. I have no idea how that happened, but a bit disappointed as it cost me 260$ and didn't qualify as warranty. I'm going to contact Honda
What you've done is try the bikes that interest you and narrowed it down. I'm doing the same only I'm not buying them, I'm watching TH-cam videos and have finally decided what I want.
What have you decided on?
I love my 300 rally and I do take it on long trips as I find it to be the most capable Adv bike for remote exploration especially solo and unsupported despite being the cheapest. Many of my trips are over 12000ks and I don’t shy away from the hard trails. It is also one of the few bikes out there that can be setup for over 1000ks autonomy. Yes I was not kidding when I said I go remote. For me there is really nothing like it out there. Having said this if the hard trails are not important to you and something you don’t do often the AT will do easily 90%of what the 300 will do off road realistically and if you are handy with big bikes it will do most of the harder trails too, admittedly at much greater expense and hard work. So no you have not made a mistake the AT will do just fine and it is far superior on road and the fast flowing trails. The bike is a tool how good it is depends on what you do with it.
I understand. You have one bike that can do it all, or three bikes that cover a bigger range.
I can't say I'm surprised as you've made it clear that you're not going crazy offroad and you're more into road miles on an ADV. I think you'll probably love the CFMoto.
I still love my Rally and Monkey but I'll probably get one of the Trails and a Dax (No AT for me, I'm too cheap) Ride safe.
Thanks for the insight. What broke on the AT?
Got an ibex 450 on the way. Can’t wait to see how it compares to my 2023 Rally.
Wait for tomorrows vid 😉
Great vid 👍
I am also selling my Rally after buying my Africa Twin. There is just a lot of overlap. I'm guna pick up a CRF250M or a KLX250SM. So I'll have a fun little around town supermoto and the AT for longer rides, 2 up and group rides. I think the supermoto will be a little more agile around town than the Rally.
@@winduncan9818 trail 125 is needed now lol
@@adventureundone I actually test rode both the CT125 and MSX125(Grom) within the last 2 weeks.
Don't worry... we still love you. (Just not quite as much). 😅
Can't wait to see what's next 😉
I know what's next....
😂😂
Mistake
At least its going to a good home 🏡
I want that bike.
Where are you riding man? If that’s your backyard, man I am so jealous. Please let me know what part of the country you’re in.
South MS
What tires do you run on the rally?
I'm a big fan of this channel. Bridgestone ax41 front and rear
AX41's
Nothing can compare to immortal honda bikes
Unbreakable machine's
what happened to the DR650?
Long gone
😂 man you are one contrary motorcycle owner .
But will place a wager with you , that a few months from now , the 2025 Honda Rally will be in your stable , and the Africa Twin will be booted out of the garage 😊
Suzuki kawaski bmw 👍
