it's because battania's always battling a country. I'm playing as an Aserai vassal right now, but currently battania's declared war on us 3 times, twice being losses and the third ongoing. They used to be equal to us in strength but now they have less than half of our soldiers and literally no castles... they battle too much too recklessly
To be fair, it's been speculated that, in the lore, they did eventually become part of Vlandia, and that the descendants of the Rhodoks are essentially a melting pot of Vlandian (rebel) and Battanian peoples, 200 years later.
Unless you wipe out Vlandia right away lol If I'm ever playing Battania or Sturgia I displace Vlandia right out the gate because they are the WORST neighbors lol

They really need to patch the game so Vlandia doesn't just automatically steamroll the map after the first 10 years. If you don't execute dozens of Vlandian lords in the earlier stages of the game, it's basically over unless you resort to using cheats like I had to. Entire Empire got wiped out by armies of 1500+ men.
I've never once seen a Vlandian fief being taken over by another kingdom, except when I'm going against Vlandia myself. The geography is just too favourable and the number of clans/lords allows them to run more armies at the same time than other Kingdoms. I've also never seen a playthrough where Sturgia doesn't get completely anihilated in the first decade or so. Not that I care, though. They're all a bunch of traitors that will defect at the first opportunity, no matter how much you help them out.
@@Bannanaaan Yeah, that's how most playthroughs go. These factions are usually too busy fighting the Empire to be able to attack Vlandia, which in turn makes them and the empire easy pickings. Vlandia only tends to have problems in the late game, when their territory gets way too large to defend without help, rebelions start to kick in and their lords start to die of old age.
@@labibhasan3239 You might be right, cause some of their clans are tiny, but what matters most is the number of clans, as there's a limit to how many parties each clan can field at once based on their level and smaller clans tend to be lower level.

They did it so that kingdoms like Battania and Sturgia can survive longer. But honestly I would rather seen them tween other aspects to balance it (or make it optional). At the same time I don’t think it’s too bad as this keeps a steady conflict in Calradia (so the map doesn’t feel empty as it might do. With only one dominant faction, which also has all the lords)

You can see if the past leader clans survived with the banners on fiefs. All the leaders have the same banner as their kingdom, so derthert's clan is the one with the lion and spear, all empire leaders' clans are the calradic empire banner, monchug's banner is a horse archer, etc
