This is one of the two best performances of Bireli. The other one is ´Si tu savais’. Amazing, it’s not only fast (people like it fast), it’s so musical. I can’t help but coming back to this recording once in a while. And the saxo (Franck Wolf) lives up to the challenge of playing with Bireli. He’s unbelievably accurate, melodic and melodious.
Trop ambitieux. Enfin, excellente prestation bien sûr, merci beaucoup
And to think I had a hard time not hating (not literally, I exaggerate) him for his entirely too young age back when he was just getting his career up and running. Non-musicians tend to love kid musicians, while musicians tend to hate them. Or is it just me?
I’ve respected cats and kittens who can do that for 25 years (or more). Often fantasize about playing in a lineup like this (but playing rock instead of Jazz, synthesizers to augment the organ).
I have exactly the same guitar. I advise anyone to try this particular Yamaha (SA 2200). Amazing neck, Gibson killer. No need to pay 5000 Euros to get the right sound...
I tried getting one of the SA2200 guitars but could never find one. I agree that they are a Gibson killer and beautifully built and specc'd. I ended up buying a Heritage 555.
I have one too. Got it for 1100 euro. Changed the pickups to some Wolfetones Marshallheads and got exactly the sound I wanted. Bireli has obviously also changed the pickups. I wonder what he got there?
An SA2200. One of the most under-rated semi-acoustic. Vastly superior to a run-of-the-mill Gibson 335. Though the Sa22OO is more akin to a 355 (ebony board, gold hardware, multiple bindings, etc.).
Thelonious Monk said "wrong is right". You can do whatever you want in jazz. You just have to find a way to integrate those wrong notes, and to do so takes a supremely high level of mental alacrity. You have to almost enjoy the mistakes and have fun with them.
It seems as Bireli has changed the pickups in his Yamaha. The original pickups Yamaha Alnico V has two screws on the upper side, and he has only one. I changed the pickups in my Yamaha and one then has to change also the frames.
I wish the jazz audience would tolerate/embrace, and the jazz players could rise to the challenge, of playing ~90% original music (writing quality original tunes is tough). Pat Metheny seems to be about the only one who can get away with it. These pop song covers are okay, . . . no, more like borderline lame, saved only by the brilliant playing. All that said, I'd sure rather be listening to Bireli's originals from earlier in his career.
Clearly out of tune on the first piece. Or there might be an intonation issue on this guitar... Idfk But either the B or G string sound off in the first tune. It gets better in the second song though. Still a tiny bit off... These Yamahas are awesome, but I find his tone too "dry", not warm enough. Do you want me to complain more? Just leave a comment if you do, I'd be happy to.

Oh, great memory, I didn't remember we played Mouvement at that tempo! 🔥🔥🔥

Ce Bireli Lagrene est un génie
Bireli is a living legend.
I believe he's more than that ;)
And to think I had a hard time not hating (not literally, I exaggerate) him for his entirely too young age back when he was just getting his career up and running. Non-musicians tend to love kid musicians, while musicians tend to hate them. Or is it just me?
This is best Jazz song ever. Better audio quality is from polish festival.
Biréli and Pat, two genius of guitar.
I was guided here because of the several demonstrations of the different Yamaha SA guitar models on TH-cam. It was only right.
Oh que c'est bon, quel bonheur !!! Merci
Bireli straordinario musicista. Un grande brano.
죽인다 ..so good in Korean
This french guitarist is genuine, sax player and keyboard player are also superb.
The sax player is a fan too! :)
Dug the infectious groove Bireli sets in the intro. What a remarkable talent.
truly world conquering technique and feel and he has a great sound with that particular guitar, its a punchy sound.
Awesome performance. Thanks for posting.

Grande Bireli 👍
Lovely music, takes you away to places youve never bn, Monsieur Lagrene you play so well, I respect you man, can't find the right words
Let's give some kudos to the organ guy too!!! Bass & chords in one man!
Citizen Alpha I own also this guitar, payed 1600 euro’s at the time....

You would also not be disappointed by a Ibanez AS 200 AV ;-)
(The additional Tri-Sound-Switch gives you some more sound variations)
I've got an early SA2000 and will keep it till they have to pry it from my dead cold fingers. The quality on these two models were superb
Gorgeous guitar!
Grande bireli
best of the best of the best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely ! 🎸👍🏼👏🏼✌🏼👌🏼😉
MAGNIFICO SOUND
Birelli virtuose !!!!
Fantastici musicisti
The bit at 3:07 "Tico tico no fuba" is great
Boze moj mne husband koza az do placu ❤❤❤❤❤❤kraasaqqq

Que dire. On touche a la perfection artistique !
juste génialement beau
et tellement swing
Simply amazing!
Fantastic!!!
Just impressive!
Les manouches sons des génies.
Thanks for sharing!
is Bireli human?
John Galt Yes when he doesn't play guitar (and bass)😉
AND Violin!
I dont think so ... like all over guitarists
yeah, the tempo on the cd is about 140 and in the video 160 :-)
John Galt (/
Our current world seems so far from this. I am so frightened, that live music is a dying breed.
I am only thankful that I am not 5 yrs old now.
A Yamaha!! Awesome !!

Enformig trummis, Bireli fantastisk!
The boss.
Looks like Birelli is on extra NITRO on this tune :D Trully very complicated technically melody! Hat off
God is playing!
Damn, Lewis Black can _jam_! Had no idea he played guitar, too.
❤❤❤
What fun to realize vitelli is a real pop guy! (Nevertheless his tune one of the most astonishing virtuous tune in the web)
what!!??
jazzin bach!
I think Birelli wrote this piece to secretly kill to the clarinet guy (i know isnt a clarinet), may be he mess with his wife.
Diego Funes In France we share everything😄
It's a soprano sax
I think it is a Oboe
Soprano sax for sure :-)
Diego Funes Lol!!
Pas facile 😁😁
4:27 it seems like he made a mistake. But then he cleverly played a couple of "wrong" notes to pull it back. What a genius.

Everyone makes mistakes when improvising.

why does it sound a little like "your latest trick"?
Masterful groove. Can anyone provide me with the chord progression?

Made in France ;-))
Maybe the fastest version. It seems too fast to them.
Friendly monster
So, you have to have a mega expensive, vintage, rare, american, guitar?...... No.
md54 he used to play a lovely super 400 and I've seen him with a couple) l5s...he's using the Yamaha on a dare ;)
Yamaha sa2200 costs 1700€ aprox. Seriously considering one of them!
Any guitar with those fingers on it ....
Can bireli write a head so complex even he himself can't play it lol.
great musicians, but soprano hurts :)))

Please post your own version of the song with a tuned guitar.
Nice playing from Bireli but he needs a better guitar. A player at his level should be playing at least a good Ibanez or Gibson.
Funny!
Gibson’s are horrible.
@@mitchie2267 Your right...good in the old days though
yeah and go tell Sco he needs to stop playing them, too
such a travesty
