    Hey Lauren, I received my boots 2 days ago! They are so comfortable and I’m sure I’ll get many many years of good use out of them! Very hot and dry here right now so I’m awaiting some rain so I can try them out in the garden. Thank You again for this wonderful opportunity!

    Yep, I’m in 9b sacramento and I can’t tell you how excited I am for this small break in 100F temps.
    Oddly I found the opposite to be true: my tomatoes started blushing when we hit 100F, but I think it was a stress response because instead of a pink blush they went bright orange super quick (and then turned red on the counter).
    Ps. I also love a good time lapse. :)

    Nice video again. How do you store your veggies until they are delivered. Like your tomatoes for example? How do you store them? Do you sell them short after you took them of or do you let them ripe inside first?

    Thank You Lauren, this is awesome!! Sorry I missed this video, it’s been a busy couple of weeks as you are as well. So I really appreciate the time you put into these videos for us❤️. I will email you later today. I’m thinking I might order my 9 year old granddaughter a matching pair as she is my partner in the gardens!! I had no idea stink bugs would do that. Again Thank you so much I’m excited to try these boots!

    South Texas here, and yes, my nemesis is the stink bug! I have to pick early as well to minimize damage. SPINOSAD will work on them. It is bacteria based and organic, but doesn't discriminate so I will rarely use it, as in the last 2 years I haven't used it at all. Im going to start some fall tomatoes here because we rarely get frosts until mid to late December, and sometimes not even until January, and we get maybe 4 days total per year. I have mostly indeterminate variety heirlooms so its a pain. I will be growing more hydribs in the future that are determinate in hopes of being able to get to the tomatoes before then.
    When the stink bugs get too bad, I do MAJOR prunes and take all but what leaves are necessary for the plants so they have fewer places to hide and procreate and lay eggs. Those all go into the trash, not the compost. I dont wanna be unknowingly tossing leaves with eggs on them. I have a few praying mantis that assist me with keeping them from taking over, and I hope the birds find them, too. I dont always have my garden gloves on and those stinkers are FAST at hiding and I dont like squishing with my bare hand. I haven't done the soapy water method yet because I never get around to it. Everything looks great in your tunnel and you're doing a great job multitasking as a mom. I have 4 myself so I do lose a lot of my time I could be in the garden because I have to break up sibling rivalry fights the whole time and can't focus. They go back to school in less than 3 weeks so I hopefully can get some stuff cleared away.
    Keep doing what you can! I always enjoy your videos!

      Question. What varieties are you growing in fall? The reason I ask is because at a certain point they just don’t ripen because it’s cool and so I fail *every year*. I’ve read that Russian varieties are good with ripening at cool temps?

    Stink bug meet assassin bug. I have the orange variety. 2 years ago I saw like two. last year maybe 12. This year there are probably 2-4 on each plant. The babies resemble leaf-toed stink bug, but if just one don't squish! I only had one mass of baby stink bugs found on one plant. Not sure where all the rest are. I can only deduce it is related to the assassin bug's deterrence or appetite. Maybe next year I'll have hundreds and will need to attract pest insects! Too bad they don't eat hornworms. Good luck fighting the stank bugs!

    • @melissasullivan1658
      @melissasullivan1658 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need to hang a wasp trap covered in tulle so they come over and hunt all your hornworms. I now have a paper wasp that shows up twice a day and is keeping my cabbage moth population manageable. :)

    • @user-ql7gn1qv9w
      @user-ql7gn1qv9w 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@melissasullivan1658 I see. So you disable the trap so it only attracts them. Like looking forward to getting Burger King but they are closed so you go to McDonalds instead. I guess they need to find the worms when they are still small enough to fit in their nests which is like what a day or two old? Ha. Thanks for the idea!

      @@user-ql7gn1qv9w also, my local paper wasps grab my cabbage loopers when they’re full size. I’ve also seen them sting a catepillar and come back to it later and finish (🤢). As long as there are holes on your leaves they will hunt them down, they’re incredible little hunters.
