    This hymn that I’m hearing for the first time is featured today, October 8, in Robert Morgan's inspiring book A Song in My Heart, "366 devotions from our best-loved hymns”. I’m thankful to find your uplifting revision of this old hymn.

    Have a wonderful and blessed day!! We need to wake up to the truth of all the wickedness going on. First we need to be trusting Jesus as Lord and Savior he is the only way to Heaven. Only two choices Heaven or hell, no in between while people pray us into heaven. The Precious Lord and Savior gave us the only way to heaven. We are in the last days he will be taking his own home very soon. One huge reason we know this is the fact of the verses in his word that tells us gives us warning of the last days.
    2Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
    2Timothy 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
    Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
    Isaiah 5:21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
    Isaiah 5:22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:
    Isaiah 5:23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
    If we are honest with ourselves we know this is happening right now. infants, and children are being murdered pretty much for sport. We have prominent officals calling sex with children okay, just their orientation.
    We have big money funding people to cause division and race riots. The Lord made us all and he doesn't look at our skin color he looks at our hearts. He sees saved, and unsaved, he sees Jew and Gentile. To hate or harm someone due to their skin color it is telling the Mighty Lord God he messed up.
    Please call upon Jesus today according to the word of God, we either belong to Jesus or to satan. Please call upon Jesus today. Time is short and we know not what a day will bring. If you believe in prayer please pray for our children to be protected, and for the lost to come to salvation.
    John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

    Could someone explain what the phrase means, "He has quenched Mt. Sinai's flame." The only time I recall in the Bible that there was flame on Mount Sinai was from Exodus 3:2: "And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him (Moses) in a flame of fire of of the midst of a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed." Skipping down to v. 4 of the same chapter, "God called to him out of the midst of the bush, and said Moses, Moses." God proceeded to talk to Moses about leading the Israelites out of captivity. My question is: Why would anyone want Him to quench this flame?

      This is referring to Exodus 19 where God came down in fire. Next read Hebrews 12:18 (through the end of the chapter) and I think you'll get a grasp of what the composer is saying. God bless!

    Sometimes a new tune for an old hymn isn't really better, it's just different. In this case, I think it is poorer for the changes.
