      I am still trying to figure out a way that I can deliver a course that is free to all. I am about to launch a Speaking Club that will be announced in the next 10 days, but I am having to use a 3rd party company to deliver this, so there will be a small charge. However it is an AI based learning platform which really helps you learn, so I'm hoping it will be very valuable to those wanting to improve their fluency. Love ❤️ & 🕊Peace. Liz

      Another fantastic lesson, Liz! Thank you for posting it. The only think I still don't get is the use of the flap T in the BR English pronunciation. In the first example you recommend pronouncing the flap T first (a loaD of thinking) and then pronounce clearly the T (step ouT of your comfort zone). Is there any rule to that? I guess Americans would use the flap T in both instances. It would be great if you could explain this in more detail. Thank you. My best regards from Essex. Kamil

    you are the best teacher ever, I'm from Palestine and I like the English language a lot, When I finished high school with a high average, I decided to study English at the university, but I was shocked when I entered. They treated us as if we knew the English language. I face many difficulties😭, but I decided to develop myself this year. When I watch your videos, I bring my pen and notebook and study and develop myself with you. Thank you very much♥️♥️🥺.

    @5:01 You mentioned a flap "t" that becomes a "d" I wasn't aware that the British accent had a flap "d". I know Americans use it all the time when the word is in between two vowels but never heard in the British accent until now, in fact most British coach strictly state is American. They mostly use "t" that is an "r".

    • @EnglishwithLiz
      @EnglishwithLiz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The flap 'd' does exist in British English although it is more common in American English. In British English, it is usually used to link two words together, like 'whad are you doing', waid a minute'. It speeds up the dialogue. Some people omit the t completely and it becomes a glottal stop. Love❤️ & 🕊Peace. Liz

    Hello Mrs. Liz, this is a fantastic lesson indeed I really enjoyed it because it's what I need and what I always do during my grammar exercises, I mean, while I do my filling the blank exercises I repeat the sentences out loud and then I try to repeat the entire exercise reading it in flow. I'm thinking of writing down the entire dialogue with all the notes we have seen in this lesson and try to repeat the work again reading out loud then, with a litle bit of drama. Oh I'm terrible at that 😅, but I bought an Assimil course for myself last Christmas like an auto-gift and it is similar I'll use it in combination. What I take from the lesson is the T sound, the flap one which I am not used to I feel better with the true one ( I wonder if the concept could work as well) and the combinations "of+th" and "s+th", nightmare for my tongue. Should I have other doubts, could I ask again later? Thank you very much for you work. Oh love and peace!!🙂

    I think this style of video is by far the best way to improve my pronunciation and also listening.
    Questions :
    "to make it happen" : do you pronounce the "t" at the end of it ?
    "meet lots of" : do you pronounce the "t" at the end of meet ?
    "it's a" : do you pronounce "ɪts ə" or "ɪz ə" or both are possible ?

    • @EnglishwithLiz
      @EnglishwithLiz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Galian. In this phrase 'make it happen' the t is not usually pronounced. This is because it's a phrase and therefore very familiar to fluent speakers of English. So it's spoken quickly. Clear enunciation is unnecessary. The phrase flows better as well.
      If you pronounce the t, it stops the flow of words slightly as the t is before a consonant. This is the same for 'meet lots of people.
      It's entirely up to you if you want to pronounce the t or not. Hope this helps.😊
      Love ❤️ and🕊️ peace.

    Sorry, Lizi. When you say stop t , you mean glottal stop?

    • @EnglishwithLiz
      @EnglishwithLiz  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Andrea. That's a good question! There is a difference between a stop t and a glottal t. A glottal t is when the air is stopped in the throat where the epiglottis is situated resulting in an 'uh' sound. However, a stop t is less strong as the the air is not fully stopped in the throat. Instead, the tongue briefly touches the alveolar ridge to pronounce the t , but does not pronounce the t . Instead it moves on to the next sound. There is a very brief stoppage of air at this point. A stop t normally occurs at the end of words when followed by a consonant whereas a glottal t normally occurs in the middle of words, but can also occur at the end of words. It depends on the speaker.
      Hope this helps
