    I found myself thinking “I hope her life was as beautiful and romantic as the wedding pictures, the house and some items portray…”. Then you showed the I live for You newspaper clipping! Of course…I’m still assuming all those pictures, items and the clipping belonged to and were the owners. I’m just going to keep the story in my head that everything was just grand for them. 😊. Thanks! Love these videos!

    Great video...those whale bone corsets and coal heaters belong in a museum! I would love to explore abandoned homes as a hobby. Reminds me of "the bros of decay" youtube channel, another of my guilty pleasures, where they explore abandoned mansions (mostly Europe) full of antiquities sealed off for, in some instances decades...travesty to think some inhabitants had no kin or they didn't take the time to care for and respect the inhabitants belongings. Love your narration and how you exhibit so much care when filming estate sales and going through the items. Bet that house can go from grey gardens to a gem...field stone walls and porch to die for.

    Oh what a grand beauty she once was, it hits me in the heart to see the family photos left behind, no family to cherish them? I admire how reverent you are with each old item, so many old treasures still there, amazing! I hope that they don’t piecemeal her out and she finds someone to restore her🥲 I await seeing what treasures you rescued 💖🙏

    Scott, it is so sad to see this old home in such disrepair with the remnants of the lives of people who once lived there. Thank you for being so respectful in taking us on this tour. On a lighter note, I can’t believe that Iris bowl is following you wherever you go! 😂😂 I wish that I were fortunate enough to have the funds to restore an old home like this one. Thanks for the video.

    Scott i just Cant. So many memories with this Video you did. Its Awesome, as you stroll the house slowly and each room you go in. I find myself in my mind peacefully thinking of all that lived in that house and what great times were had. Just wow this one touches on the emotions. You always capture that! If these walls could talk... What a great 1907 Home, My Grandma on my Moms side was born in 1907. I only knew her till i was 10 in 1990 she passed. I always wish i could talk to her about times back then as an Adult. Living thru the 30s-40s-50-60s the decades i love the most. Have a great day Scott :)

    What a stunning nostalgic tour. It does appear the house was once a beloved home. Thank you for going so slowly-I loved seeing the details on the architectural features as well as the stuff. Though I almost coughed on the dust! Things I would’ve bought: box of sequins; hand-painted primitive painting; blouse with stays; birdhouse; little black-cat figurine; floor lamp with orange and green hanging shades. 😊😊😊

    Would this be a case of the land being worth more than the house, thus the house being a tear down? Would it have any protected status in Philadelphia. Happens all the time on the west coast, so I wonder what becomes of homes like this on the east coast. Thank you for taking us along. Loved the piano music.

    • @oldcuriosityshop265

      Leesa here in the old cities of the northeast, there are literally thousands and thousands of houses just like this one. The days are gone when big families lived side by side, packed into cities in grand old homes like this one. Sadly, this part of the city has not been "fashionable" for quite some time. Perhaps it will be sold to a developer who will "rehab" it for future sale.

    • @gailcathey5642
      @gailcathey5642 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Plus it really not that old in the scheme of things in this part of the country. Philadelphia is a old, old town. There is a restored Victorian in the Germantown section of the city that is open to the public, the Ebenezer Maxwell mansion. But in Philly the stress is on Colonial, Colonial, Colonial.

    Nice vintage AM radio at 18:00! Kind of heartbreaking to think about all the wonderful memories and moments that went on in that house that are now relegated to just photos, tchotchkes, old clothing and architectural salvage. Everything in that house meant something to somebody at one time, and now they're all forgotten relics. It warms my heart to know you decided to pick out a few items and breathe new life into them. They will now bear witness to newer and equally wonderful memories and moments in your house! God bless you Scott, and keep doing what you do like only you can!

    This one made me sad and smile at the same time. If the walls could talk. Reminded me of when I had to clean out my grandparents home. So many pictures and memories. Many I didn’t know who they were. It’s so important if you have living older relatives to get the names and stories before it’s too late. You’ll regret it if you don’t. Thanks for a beautiful video Scott. This one tugged a bit. 🥲

    The huge grand old PA houses that were built back in the day are so majestic. The houses that have humongous 4 foot by 6 ft composit framed original paintings on the wall actually looks small from the other side of the room. Are to me the best. So many are still standing. Mostly used for businesses are divided up to make apartments. Some are still being used as residential homes also. There are stone and brick homes that were used to house travelers for the night in the 18th century. Even the dirt trails are now used as roads. If walls could talk, the stories they could tell. Again you matched the audio perfect to create a feeling and a story to the item. So beautiful.

    Wow I can't imagine all those wonderful memories that they created in this house . And I pray that they have a beautiful life together. Thanks Scott for taking us along with you for this one I really enjoy watching ❤

    Well, Scott, you did it again! You hit the jackpot in the lighting fixtures! So how many did you buy? That radio must have made your heart sing! My favorite part was the newspaper clipping of a poem, "I Live for You." It shows the mindset of people in another era. I think people nowadays live more for their own pleasure instead of the pleasure of living for others. I hope someone handy with a hammer and saw picks up this beauty of a house and restores it to its glory!

    I know that not everyone wants heirlooms, or hand-me-downs, but I hope with all my heart that some special items were kept in the family. I started collectiong items from my family when I was about 12 and I'm still going 30 years on. My children, thank goodness, also are collecting family treasures.
    It's so sad seeing the house in such a state. It looks like it was quite grand at some stage. Thankyou for taking us along with you😊

    Absolutely fascinating Scott! I bet there were a few 'detached retina' moments. Wish I could have been there with you - wait 🤨 I was 😁. Love this kind of content. Thank you.
