I really enjoy your videos, I feel extremely relaxed after watching them, thank you for sharing. I’m going to be irritating my wife looking for stones and returning to caveman.
Mad & incredible skills. Absolutely love the respect you give to the ancient indigenous cultures and care you have for the land. From a fellow Coloradoan, thanks for that!
Hi Donny ! wow so much information ! Thank you for taking the time and explaining your process ! New England is nothing like your terrain ! Beautiful ! Thanks again Donny !
Thanks for being mindful of leaving artifacts in place on public land. I know right where you're at and it's a great source and spectacular view on a clear day. It's actually in my daughter's new BLM archaeology area - so a double thank-you!
Donny Dust. This is a very informative comprehensive presentation of Lithic Technology, Geological, & Archaeological information well presented & researched information. Thank you for sharing your knowledge of one of the most important technological advancements that insured the continuation & evolution of the human species. Vincent James Ajello (Reconstructive Lithic Technologist/Researcher)
(long but genuine) i want to express my appreciation for you and your education and insights. i saw you on alone a few years ago, understood why you left, but was always intrigued by your knowledge. a few weeks ago you popped into my 'suggested' completely randomly, just as i was thinking i needed to focus on something fulfilling, and i was hooked. your teaching style is informative while being calming and constructive. my flintknapping tools and flint arrived Friday, and I have been at it all weekend, feeling accomplished, frustrated, and replaying video after video. I look forward to supporting you and learning , see you in the bush!
I spent 5 mths in the N. Georgia national forest and searched for stones and gems, I have always loved rocks for some crazy reason. I have learned so much from your videos and just wanted to say thank you! You are so knowledgeable and talented. I'm so glad I came across your channel!
Thanks for the great videos. I've come across many stone artifacts in my wanderings but I just let them lie where they have been for possibly thousands of years. It's always a thrill to find them and for a moment I feel a connection with that person from the past. I appreciate your respect for the past!
Thanks for the website drop. There is a point on a lake near me where my dad used to pickup arrowheads. I find all types of rocks on it. Yet to find an arrowhead but I've found pieces of them. Maybe with some luck I can find the source stone sites nearby.
Took me 3 months to find your channel, of course I love your stuffs cause definitely part of me wants to go away from civilization and live on my own I have 2 questions actually, your video edits look quite high end right to the thumbnail. How do you manage that if you do that yourself? Secondly, despite living alone you have good set of clothes. How have you collected those good looking shirts since you live remotely? Genuinely curious and yeah good wishes for you and your ventures :) Edit: Subscribed
Appreciate it greatly. Thanks so very much. About two years ago I bought a better camera then my phone had that would produce great close ups. My editing is the free program that came with my camera and I recharge my stuff with a small portable solar panel. I have two sons and keep a small place for them when I’m not outside in the bush. I keep some clothes there along with my sons items. It’s a balance and despite returning to civilization at times, I still find the natural places my home. Thanks for watching.
Hey Donny im a 28 year old new comer to flintknapping. And ive been planning on making some stone hammers to ease my way into it. But not sure on the best type of stone for them, also ive been really curious on the pecking technique you shown in one of your shorts. Id love to see a longer how to video on stone hammers. Thanks for all the info, and the great videos man 🤙Take care.
Donny, i want to echo what every commenter has said... you are Him bud. i own both a fishing outfitter in Alaska & a Hunting Outfit in Idaho (elk, deer, bear, wolf etc.). i gotta be honest - i never really thought i'd be interested in making my own knife/ax/primitive tool etc. but because of the YT algorithm and the rabbit hole that YT is - i somehow ended up on your channel, seriously - i watched a movie the other day -I liked a dog in it - googled the breed - turns out it was an Australian Kelpie - somehow, some way - it led me to you. i'm gearing up for early elk hunt (in the rut) for September - i've got lots of hay to move and ponies to shoe but... all i can think about is looking for rocks:) damn man, sometimes you just find someone that just bc of a video... well, that you can relate with. i've never heard of you, i've never seen you, and... i'm already binging your videos. man, i can't let it go - now i'm wondering if i can find some flint napping rocks in Idaho county Idaho hahahaha. i never comment on YT, hell - i forgot my password... that's how much your vids have affected me:)-barbie
We pretty much only get Quartz and Ironstone out here, ive made a few crude axeheads out of the ironstone but you gotta hit the stone so hard that it actually starts getting dangerous just to flake off the tiniest piece
I wonder how much time they would spend there knapping the points and tools they need considering they probably travelled from all over to particular sites that were super abundant with the proper mineral resources. Wonder if they'd make trips and stay for a week + just knapping tools in mass before heading out and returning to their usual territory.
How come you left the ancient hammer stones? Are you not allowed to take them, or did you leave them out of respect? Genuine question, just looking for information. Not a troll question! 🙂
Love your tiktoks and videos man, keep it up♥️
Thanks Donny
Wow thank you for this knowledge. Here I am thinking the stone for knapping was special and rare. I am going to use this to find myself some stone.

You walking around tapping rocks together made me think of the kid snipe hunting in UP.
Haha. No doubt!

Thanks for watching.
Geologically speaking, my state's mountains (New Hampshire) has very little if no chert or flint due to the natural history
I now live in Catalunya and in the zone where I am is almost impossible to find some rock that dosen't turn to dust just watching it xD
안녕하세요.
👍🏻🤙🏻
Ni hao :)
I see you have your camping companion with you.
That is awesome.
Good information on the flint.Napping.Hard to find that good stuff in virginia😅

Thank for what I learn from you. Do you heat treat some of the stone that you knap?
Iam new to your channel very interesting
I have the same poncho. Use mine inside out so the soft side is on the inside. How do you keep yours from getting stuff stuck in it?
Sometimes I tie it around my waist and it helps. Typically I don’t get much on it.
So lucky to have stone areas
Do you ever use MGRS?
I use UTMs…and MGRS are derived from UTM. In the military I used MGRS.
Big respect to you for leaving the hammer stones bc those are the connections ❤
Have you ever made a video about which type of stones are the good ones to work on?
Bro,I'm the same way.Yeah points are cool to find but man,a hammerstone, abraider something along those lines now that's pretty dang cool.
Absolutely. I couldn’t agree more. I’ve found several over the years and it’s so awesome to find one or even two in a location.
Stone Age hardware store. I really love that phrase. The river beds are the hardware store.
Living in Michigan, I thought your video was "Flint Kidnapping Zone" at first glance.
I honestly wouldn't have been surprised. Maybe from him I would be though
U look like the guy from the original ten commandment film aka Moses film
I try my best. Haha. I’m just me and do my thing. Thanks for watching.
♥️💥👌🔥👍⭐
We pretty much only get Quartz and Ironstone out here, ive made a few crude axeheads out of the ironstone but you gotta hit the stone so hard that it actually starts getting dangerous just to flake off the tiniest piece
Maybe try some heat treatments to the stone. It can change the chemical composition and make the stone more approachable!
Thats a good idea, definitely gonna try that the next time i head out into the bush
I must be doing something wrong on USGS. I am only finding one mrds entry for flint and it is in Texas.
Try some rivers in texas around Austin, San Antonio and Killeen. Those are some great locations to find stone. Texas has some great stone resources!
❤

Wonder if they'd make trips and stay for a week + just knapping tools in mass before heading out and returning to their usual territory.
I'd imagine they probably transported a lot of the material to take back as well.
How come you left the ancient hammer stones? Are you not allowed to take them, or did you leave them out of respect?
Genuine question, just looking for information. Not a troll question! 🙂
Donnie, I live.... In N.E. Washington State,
I live in Arkansasan. Near native mines . I have found artifacts ony land . Possibly an old hunting camp .
Is there any way to convince you to make many more flintknapping videos? I would literally pay you to have a lesson through FaceTime or zoom.
Fantastico💪💪💪🫶
🙏🙂🙏🇸🇪
if shtf a simple wait too find flint like stones is to look near rivers
Hola, podrías poner subtitulo en español
Subtitles in Spanish…not sure how to do that.
Inglés Sin Barreras
I find obsidian easier process but worse in terms of durability
Careful making too good of a stone knife. God may command you to sacrifice your son with it.
Lugar espetacular, é um sonho que tenho visitar essa planície ou alguma outra parecida. E claro, com quem entende do assunto... Desde Limeira-Sp. Br
🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍🇷🇺🇺🇸
