    As a stutterer myself, I procrastinated doing TH-cam for YEARS because of my FEAR of seeing myself stutter in the window of my editing software and thinking of myself as a fool.
    But seeing Mel do an interview and making people laugh, gives me a bit more confidence!
    What a beautiful singing voice he had!

    • @900milesfromnormal3
      @900milesfromnormal3 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My Dad had a similar speech impediment. He stammered (different than a stutter) when he spoke. Two exceptions. 1. He could sing with no stammer. 2. When he got MAD and would start yelling, he had no problems speaking.
      My theory is this: When Mel Tillis or my Dad spoke, they had to think about what they were saying. Their minds and their mouths would/could not synch up so to speak. But when they sang they knew the words, so there was no need to search for words.
      Also when Dad got mad, he didn't care about the next word, he'd just scream it and let it do whatever damage it did. Oh, and for what it's worth, Dad's name was also Mel.

    • @chestermarcol3831
      @chestermarcol3831 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nobody GAVE Paycheck car keys, because he wasn't asking. If you know anything about him, he had no compunction about stealing cars. If Paycheck wanted to drive somewhere, it was happening, with ya or w/o ya. And it's an absolute no-brainer that he needed the car to hook up with his guy, for another 8-ball or maybe even an onion.

    When you hear a story having to do with being up for three days you're being told they were tweaking or coked out. probably meth. None of the traditional, christian, midwest, southerners watching the show knew what was being said for sure. But you can tell the host did :-)

    • @TheKiller-yh3pi
      @TheKiller-yh3pi 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well meth was & is a prescription drug that didn’t have the stigma attached to it back then like it does now. It’s still a prescription drug but due to the stigma around “meth”, it’s rarely prescribed now, but back then it was one of the most prescribed drugs. Even more than adderall is now. I have a medical textbook from the 70’s and the stuff had at least 5 different brand names and was used for everything from obesity to plain old fatigue.
      The only time you hear about meth now is in its illicit form.
      But I’m sure they did plenty of coke too, they must’ve been the sweatiest people in Nashville lol
