@@ryanrosehorsemanship thank you 🙏 I’ll do that..kind regards from Ireland..you should come over here sometime and do a workshop. God bless your talent. You are the best horseman on TH-cam.
This is excellent. I didn't have a mustang, but I bought a range colt from an auction years ago (basically feral and you just run them into a trailer similar to the Mustangs). I didn't have a lot of the knowledge back then, but I spent about 3 months just sitting in a chair with that colt. I thought he'd never get used to me, but then he did, and I could do just about anything with him then. He even forgave the de-lousing and deworming...haha. I got him to a point where I got on him and did walk/trot but a change in my personal life made me have to sell him. That's when I learned that "I" could do anything with him...but no one else could!
True one of my mares she's pretty scared about everything and my mother and my horse had alot of trust before i did as well now my mares trusts my family and knows she'll be safe
Ryan, I just respect your humility. You are an amazing teacher and coach because you are always learning. This episode was so informative to hear you two sharing strategies. Just so well done.
I'm falling in love with this brave mare. She's so smart too. You are doing a fabulous job of making sure she's prepared. So impressed with how humble you are in seeking others opinions about your training. Can't wait to see the next steps 😁
Admire your approach with Marley Ryan. Bringing in Nate Eicher shows you put the success of her future, and your partnership with her, above your ego. Keep yourself in one piece😉
What a gorgeous, sensitive mare. This was an exceptionally educative video…being able to watch Nate take her thru the basic handling list, watching Marley’s read/response, and hearing your observation/background info. Proof that ‘two heads are better than one’! Thank you both. GREAT video. I’ll check out Nate’s channel. You both have very calm, respectful, confident style. So nice to see.
Hi Ryan deep respect here - The fact that You ask fore “help” is a very good signal to sent many Think they have it figure out and is to proud to ask for assistent and get hurt 😊
i also feel as though the single line ground driving/ desensitizing gives the "free rein" own responsibility aspect of finding the right answer of not bolting without you being at their heads
Wow she is beautiful ❤❤very well built horse. Looks strong willed but not nasty...when you get her to work with you you got one heck of a mare😊😊looking forward to her progress❤
Oh boy! I have been super quiet with my mare but finding that delicate balance of asking her to think through the pressure before she freaks out remains somewhat elusive. This video gives me a lot of ideas. Nate's work with her is tremendous and having the two of you discussing techniques and strategies to help her gain confidence and trust is absolutely golden. Brilliant all te way around!!
I have so much respect for you training her with love and respect without egos in the way. Smart patient steps to have success is the way to go. I’ve learned so a lot by watching this mustang journey. Amazing thank you.
So many people think they know it all, but we can all learn and it's always good to recognise a gap in experience and seek advice. I'm glad you did - we didn't want a bronco show! Interesting to see Nate speeding things up and increasing pressure when you have been taking it slow and careful. They do need to learn not to be too reactive to any little miss-move we may make - it's easy to trip over a bucket or something or just be in a bit more of a hurry and forget to be so careful and they need to be able to handle that! It's made me think about Remmy with Jake at Pear Tree ranch - he worked wonders, but said she will never be a "normal" horse and will always need extra care with handling. I wonder if she would benefit from a bit of Nate style speeded up pressure. I hope she's going on well and often think of her and wonder how she might handle every day horsey activities like going to a trail ride meet up or something. Loving watching Marley, she's a beauty and you've got a great mare.
I’m glad to see someone come in and be mindful of what they are doing and how accepting she is. Instead of coming in going rawhide and flooding them into flight or fight and ruining the progress. Imagine a few months ago she was wild, only knew her herd and now she is accepting a saddle in the kill zone….horses are magnificent creatures and I love them all ❤️🐴
This is great, Nate is awesome!! Being humble and asking for help from fellow trainers is what makes you an even better horseman. The Twin Peaks mare I am currently training for a friend reminds me so much of Marley. She soft, sensitive, smart, and tries very hard. She's OK with all the tools, but the human touch is what makes her nervous. Was very face shy at first, "patting" her was a huge no no, sometimes still is. Esp. under the chest area she would strike out at that. Lots of "50 first dates" with her at first. Have had her since June and she's coming along really well; but still not the most cuddly horse, and definitely has some stranger danger still. Love seeing your progress with Marley. And cant wait to see you at Equine Affaire next week!
Ryan, are you feeling pretty confident??😁😅😂 I’m remembering the video where you got yourself in a little bit of a bind. Thanks for another awesome video! Loved seeing Emily give him a lesson!
I've not watched all her patreon videos yet but this one defaulted after the go fast one so I started to watch. I've never watched Nate at work before but so interesting to see a wild mustang act differently with different people as I know enough about your training that you'll have got her to a good enough stage if you felt she was getting ready for first ride. So interesting when others find holes and reflecting it is not always about the trainer leaving holes as such, but sometimes the horse can just experience something different when faced with someone new. Great video with two great minds and styles helping this girl to being her best self
It is really great to see everything both of you are doing with her, all of the different exposures and angles and touching. She is such a nice mare too, very expressive, but cautious with good sense. Picked up alot of tips for my tool box too. Thx for bringing your awesome guest trainer (7 x winner, wow! Went and subscribed to his channel immediately, he is very creative and effective with his methods too!) Thx Ryan. Cheers. ❣️🍀
Great Video - - Marley is such a gorgeous gal ! She has come so far along staying with a new person - she is being natural and curious enough - - glad you have her and look forward to seeing her continue to develop with a saddle and rider. Regards and Appreciation.
There are so many things I love about this video! This is such a great example about truly testing instead of quietly testing. Looking forward to getting my tarp out.😊Also it is so fun to hear two master Horsemen talking about Horsemanship to each other. Thank you for this video.
She is a bay roan. Roan on top of a bay base color. Blue roan is roan on a black base, Red is roan on a red (sorrel also called chestnut ) base. I see more bay roans around here then the other kinds.
Such a thinking horse. PS I love her coloring since you got her….Marley is saying prove it to me. She does not lose her head. This is so cool to watch.
Wow Ryan, I admire your audaciousness to confide your Mustang to someone who She does not know. Therefor I am not surprised to see Marly being the way she is. Very easy, just put my self in her stead and I would be the same. You are very generous to leave this space to a new person for Marly! Kudos to you! I'm sure this guy is super and has a lot of experience in that domaine, but I'd be Marly I'd think : who the h.... ar you to try and ask stuff of me ... ; ))
She's absolutely lovely and I'm glad you're sharing her progress but I have to say this was really hard to watch. You mention a few times about moving quickly around her and it seems she's trying to tell you she isn't ready yet for all those brisk movements. I think I counted maybe 4 steps where she disengaged her hindquarters but otherwise she was moving sharply in short jerky steps, keeping her legs under her so she could bolt if she had to. When someone asks her gently to disengage, can she do it calmly and in a relaxed way? A martial arts instructor used to say: first you do it slowly, then you do it slowly and well, then you do it fast, then you do it fast and well. I might be completely off here and you might intend to have a horse who always moves immediately and fast, so that's the way she's going to be treated. I would not in a million years get on a horse that was at her level of relaxation because I am such a rubbish rider, so my standards are not going to match yours and my opinion is of limited value. Please share more about Marley's progress. She's delightful to watch, although her ears weren't as expressive this time as they've been in the past and that part was really delightful.
I’m sure Ryan has her doing things slowly and well, but Nate stepped it up to doing it fast. The increase in speed is an increase in pressure that Marley needs to increase her tolerance for, which will lead to relaxation and her being able to do it fast and well.
She is a great mind. Once your in her trust bubble shes is gonna be a great partner. The kind of horse who's smart enough to make better decisions than we do sometimes. Those are the best relationships. Like..hold on let me check with my horse first. 🤠
I spent lots of time with mustangs in a holding facility waiting to be adopted and the mustangs were terrified of the man that came in riding a horse. I could tell every time it was going to happen because they would all panic and move as far away as possible in their pens to try and get away from him. It didn’t matter how close he was or wasn’t. One time I was there and the guy came into one of the pens on horse back to move them around and the mustangs would slam into the panels. One broken his leg and had to be put down. I don’t know if this happens all the time. I just wanted to mention this in regard to the question you asked if it bothers them seeing someone riding on another horse’s back. It definitely can.
@bh1264 I see your passion but plz know that ALL CAPS in comments, texting, forums, etc. is like yelling at ppl. Plz consider another way to express your excitement. Thx 💖
I think she was handled roughly in the round up and pinning process. Who knows how she got the cuts on her hind quarters looks like a mountain lion attack….
@ I have so much respect for you and Nate just subscribed to his channel I’d love to meet you guys some day. It would be great if you would come to Ireland…please..we need you ..
thank you i enjoy what you do. i have yet to see something i don't like, or hear something i disagree with. if i had a suggestion try using your right hand right arm less. less movement
It's interesting...she seems more comfortable with the tarp being thrown at her than his hands moving up and down. Makes you wonder if she was mistreated prior to Ryan taking her on. Disregard that last comment if she didn't have any experience with people prior to Ryan.
Question: At around 21:35 she steps to the side and does not cross over. I have learned that when the horse crosses over, it gives up its flight reflex, it cannot jump forward with crossed legs. Is this completely wrong???
I have wondered from the beginning of this mustang thing that maybe this girl had so much trauma in the wild that she may be difficult to tame. (The large scars)
She is an incredibly smart girl - she handles this pressure with incredible grace and willingness to do what is asked of her - what a true gift she is - I am surprised you didn’t acknowledge the constant active tail - you are starting to frustrate her - she is trying to tell you🤷♀️

This horse may be the ultimate intensity for mustang taming. She’s had trauma of some sort and she may not forget it.
