  • Good Hope Villas in Jamaica is one of our top 10 hotels in Jamaica. Our best resorts in Jamaica series will take you through Jamaica’s best hidden gem.
    www.goodhopejamaica.com/
Is it a hotel, Airbnb, or something else? I’m not sure. You can book a single room, or book the whole place. But please be aware that it is often booked out for retreats, so you’ll find good chunks of the year when there is no availability.
Good Hope is in the hills of Trelawny, Jamaica, 45 minutes from Montego Bay airport, at the entry of Jamaica's famous Cockpit country.
I was here for a retreat and all the food was provided as part of that. The Good Hope staff is wonderful and the food was excellent, but enquire with the hotel about how meals work if you are not part of a group.
You can stay in the Great House or the Carriage House which is steps below the Great House. There is also an individual building/room behind the Great House which I thought was the nicest room in the place.
Horseback ride, hike, explore the Cockpit country, learn pottery, or chill at one of the two pools available to guests. They also have their own private beach 20-30 min away with changing rooms, chairs., picnic tables and someone on hand to serve cold drinks.
This is the opposite of Jamaica's mega-resorts, a true gem that I loved.

I rode horses here when I was a kid (the horses were in the carriage house back then), and we were married there in 1996, and had our 20th anniversary dinner there. It holds a very special place in my heart...

@@k.j.falloon8563 channel is new (new phone) and I don't know how to upload. I'm more of a watcher than an uploader 😀 last visit was 11yrs ago 🙄😭🇯🇲🇯🇲. You've visited every hotel in JA, impressive 👏🏾 I would love to reintroduce myself to to the island. It makes me homesick listening to foreigners/tourists telling me and educating me about what I SHOULD BE TELLING THEM. My Ghanaian postman was educating me about differences between parishes. My Guyanese colleague was telling me all to hot spots to visit. I feel proud yet ashamed they know more than me. 🙈🙈🤦.
Anyways Enjoy sweet sweet Jamaica!!! 🇯🇲❤️🇯🇲❤️🇯🇲

This is in Cockpit Country an area that is under threat of being mined (for bauxite) out of existence if the Jamaican government has its way. Please join the fight to keep this part of Jamaica free from further mining. We stand to lose far too much. Infact, the Cockpit Country should be made a natural Heritage Site due to it's importance.
It is the source of six major rivers and is a critical water resource for central-western Jamaica
There are plants that are endemic to Jamaica. The known list includes 6 species of Lepanthes orchids; 4 species of bromeliads; and 2 species of wild yam. In addition there are 12 herbs, 4 herbaceous vines, 2 sub-woody vine, 4 woody scramblers, 39 shrubs, 15 shrubs or small trees and 15 trees species.
There is more, but I'll leave it for now.

"you feel like you stepped back in time 300 years"
    "A bitter sweet past"
Describing what used to be a major plantation in a now post colonial country being strangled by foreign debt.
    So incredibly tone deaf.
