The fear and stress hormones transfer to the consumer. The animals suffer tremendously. Slaughter house workers suffer tremendously. The abuse trickles into society. Turning our hearts against this theft of the rights of sentient beings to live their lives causes us to suffer even if we don’t notice physical symptoms immediately. But once we shut down our natural empathy to one creature, it becomes easier to do to others, including fellow humans. What we do to another we do to ourselves. We are all connected.
