Some people listen to music and just hear a sound. Some people listen to music because it sounds cool. The rest of us. We listen to music because it affects our lives. It helps us ease out broken souls it saves our lives. This music isn't a bunch of screaming. It helps change the lives of those who need it most. Music saves lives. It's national suicide awareness day today and The Color Morale has made the farthest efforts to show they are battling this disease of depression anxiety and eating disorders. Music can change your life. It saved mine

Yesterday I started to listen to this for the first time. Then I saw all the comments talking about "hopecore" and I agreed with them and turned it off. This morning I found out that my best friend's little brother killed himself, and I only wish that he had listened to music like this.

There literally could not be a stronger message portrayed with what's happening around the world right now. TCM really chose a good time to open up with a strong song against suicide. Remember people, and I speak from experience, it does get better. Be strong.

When you are changing the life you know,
this can be oh so hard to face.
But what’s worse is regret that one day you’ll wake up.
Pretending to love someone before you love yourself.
When will our hearts be free?
    Because our ribs are cages.
Where do I belong when everything I've loved has come and gone?
Where do I belong when even my own shadow leaves me when darkness comes?
There's got to be a crack in everything.
Otherwise, a light could never find it's way in.
Years of love are lost in the hatred of a moment.
You'll never know what it's worth until it’s a memory, so you should own it.
One person’s insecurity can become a reality
for someone else when we use each other to find love in ourselves.
When will our hearts be free?
    Because our ribs are cages.
Where do I belong when everything I've loved has come and gone?
Where do I belong when even my own shadow leaves me when darkness comes?
When will our hearts be free?
    cause our ribs are cages.
Where do I belong when everything I've loved has come and gone?
Where do I belong when even my own shadow leaves me when darkness comes?
When darkness comes, when darkness comes, what do I need?

This is my first time listening to this song, and I'm glad a song like this exists. Some people out there are suffering through some tough times. We should be out there to lend a hand. If you know anyone who is feeling down, please be there for them. I've always been there for my friends in the past, and I'm willing to be there for anyone who needs someone to talk too.

Y'all need to stop saying TCM sold out or turned to crap just because the music is more calm. Reality is they chose to put more power behind their lyrics and create something beautiful, something that creates hope in those who really need it. The issues brought tp light in this video are more then real and its time to realize that this is something more then a video. I've been a fan of TCM for a long time and this is solid, this is good music.

It doesn't matter what you're going through; what matters is that to many, music is an outlet. A chance to "connect" or relate to something. The Color Morale does just that. They make music so others can finally feel something other than pain.

It's a good thing TCM is doing what they can to help those dealing with depression, cause honestly , it's not fun for sure to be sad. And taking away your own life isn't really going to help, it'll just make it worst for those who around you who do love you as a person. So thank you TCM, and I really do hope that those suffering of depression or suicidal thoughts can feel better about life and themselves and know that people around them does care for them.

I'm not going to lie, the intense and graphic nature of this video made me feel very uncomfortable and almost embarrassed, however that is what makes this music video, and the Color Morales music in general so vital. People need to see the reality of the pain that people really go through. Its easy to forget how awful suicide, eating disorders and self harm is when its simply reported in the news in a glossed over, easy to digest fashion. Something to be heard about but never discussed or seen. We become desensitised to the horror of mental illness and its devastating consequences, and so, when it is shoved so forcibly in your face it makes people uncomfortable. But people need to feel uncomfortable to be able to break away from the stigma and societal tendencies to 'brush things under the carpet'. Seeing the harsh reality of mental illness in full, uncensored visuals and music will make people sit up and take note. It will start discussion and discussion and talking about mental illness is the first step in breaking the stigma and causing a permanent change in how our society views and deals with mental illness. The color morale are a true inspiration. They write from the heart and are unafraid to go further, much further than any other band. They risk their reputation and careers to try and make a positive change in the world. Sure its hard to watch, sure its uncomfortable but that's the point. Its different, its original, its memorable and I believe its the start of a really positive change.

Reminds me of We Came As Romans! Really enjoy it! As someone who was once suicidal/depressed/still gets that way sometimes like 2x a week or 1x every 2-3 weeks I can really relate! There's nothin' wrong with writin' positive music. I never self-harmed but, I really wanted to for a while. Glad I never did cuz it fucks people up. "Hope-Core" seriously you guys? Such genre inventors you are. Anyways, I hope you all have an AMAAAAAAAAAAAZINGLLLYYYY BEAUTIFULLLL DAY and Remember you are loved! :)

There's music (shit like Jason Derulo singing Wiggle stuff) and then there are influential artists like The Color Morale who use music as a PSA. To draw attention to the harsh reality that there are people who hurt out there. Who hurt so much, they are afraid to tell anyone because they don't want to drag others down with them. So they don't say a word, put on a facade until the mask wears off and they give in to suicide. Look at Robin Williams. At the end of the day we are all human. Vulnerable and susceptible to sadness. It's how we were made. To go through the motions. But as people we need to build each other up instead of tearing each other apart. Each of us is going through something on this thread and this video resonated with me. If you were disgusted by it, you obviously haven't been there. This video made me misty eyed. You will never know the depths of human despair unless you've been there. The Color Morale are a powerful band.

I really enjoy reading everyones comments and what they are going through and how this song and others by the band have helped them. I too have been through some very tough times and have turned to this band for their great messages in their music. Honestly, the music saved me and the messages there in. I believe in HOPE. I believe in the message "hold on pain ends". Stay strong people and god bless. To TCM, congrats on the new record, its amazing, and keep on inspiring. I really don't know where I'd be without them. I believe in the genre, they are greatly underappreciated and not given enough credit for what they do. I had a panic attack when I met them at Amos on the Apollo X tour, but we talked as if we had grown up together. I will never give up on this band.

Opinions opinions. The only thing disappointing about this video is the comments section. Become as successful as TCM and then feel free to comment on whether or not the music is up to the mark. Personally for me, this is exactly what Garrett Rapp is amazing at and how TCM builds a story through a song based on his ideas. So what if this doesnt have the elements of The Devil In Your Eyes? This is emotion in its purest form and i think that;s the point some of you are missing.

the comment section on this video is really disappointing. Yes, there are plenty of bands who sing about issues such as suicide/depression but there are even more bands out there who sing about break ups, partying, etc. And you know what? There is nothing wrong with liking those type of bands either. As long as they back up the meaning and emotion behind it they could literally sing about their undying love of cats for all I care. And as for calling these inspirational lyrics a 'trend' is not true. Bands have been singing about these issues forever. The reason that we notice it now is because a lot more kids/adults growing up in this generation have to deal with these issues. At the end of the day you can be the one to judge if a band like The Color Morale is sincere about the message they're trying to get across. And to me, It's very clear.

First relevant thing I've heard all day. I was pretty disappointed, myself. God only knows why, but I expected more. The real fans actually have something decent and noteworthy to say, the rest are clowns and trolls. I can't imagine waking up and deciding I'm going to go video to video trying to make people feel like crap. My life hasn't been easy, but that's really freaking sad. In not even a nice guy, and some of the stuff I see written boggles my mind.

Great video! Love you guys for going with your hearts and not what people think you should sound like. Each record should sound different and your sound is unique, record after record. Keep up the great work and props to all who were involved in doing the song justice with this music video!

There is actually a song of theirs that is called Hold On Pain Ends! It's slower and everything, but still has a great message behind it!

Haha I know now! I didn't see that before because I commented on this when the single of it came out before the album! I'm super excited because this amazing man is gonna be featured on my bands EP! We have his vocal tracks and what not right now just needs to be mixed :3

To The Color Morale, I sincerely believe that you are NOT trying to monetize on being a 'hopecore' band as some of these comments suggest. I see this more as an honest expression of your art as human beings familiar with struggle, and therefore evolving. However after buying the album, and thoroughly enjoying it, this video in particular seems to strike a negative chord with people who have actually gone through the pain depicted. Suffering from an anxiety disorder and depression myself, it made it really hard revisiting the more graphic moments of that struggle. Tone down the suggestive nature of your content maybe? Especially for the impressionable, who are more likely to grasp your intention with subtlety. That being said both Know Hope and Hold on Pain Ends have been vital records in reinforcing my day to day well being and nothing but love to you guys for putting these records out.

Really enjoyed "Know Hope" and was really nervous to hit the play button on this song because it was 98% going to be a let down. Boy that 2% just kicked me in the face. Awesome job boys!
