Thanks for the tip about OKO carbs from mid-atlantictrials! I have a new one coming for my TY250.

If I’m not mistaken, wheel diameter doesn’t matter to the speedometer selection. Nearly all Japanese speedometers use the same number of RPMs per MPH. It’s the speedometer drive off the hub that is adjusted to match the wheel diameter.

Looking good, should be much stronger than the Aprilia set up. Best wishes, Dean.

Hi Michael. That front hub looks to be from an ‘82-83 650 Heritage Special. That one is drilled for the weird 64 spoke rim on those bikes. Are you going to have Buchannans make up a custom 36 or 40 spoke set? Might be a real puzzle to lace up. The earlier model 650s use a 36 hole hub. The RD250/350 uses a 36 spoke hub that’s 10mm narrower but will also fit up that disc rotor. Also, if you’re up to using up a good carbide drill bit you can take a good bit of weight off that rotor by drilling it full of holes.

Well you just spoiled my weekend. I checked my ebay purchase history and when I looked at the pictures I see that the wheel has millions of spokes. Money down the drain but at least it was cheap. Back to ebay.

@@BritanniaMotorcycles Sorry about that but maybe the light weight $30 brake rotor tip will help a bit. The hubs have become a bit pricey but the whole wheels aren’t all too dear. The

@@BritanniaMotorcyclesMy comment on a $27-35 light weight Yamaha rotor doesn’t seem to be getting through so I’ll add it to this reply. The later 298mm discs for the 1982-83 XJ750 Seca and Maxim are 2mm thinner, slotted and about 1-1/2 pound lighter. They come in left and right side because of the slot direction but are up on eBay and cheap. Left is 5G2-25831-10 and the right is 3JB-25831-00.

Watched episode last night, UK, and thought I must have missed one! I played it back today, Monday, in case I missed a bit of dialogue, but didn’t actually hear that the B50 frame was to be the new project! If not why the fitting of the forks?
      ( A confused Yorkshire bloke!)

I am using the frame to do all of the fabrication and machining work so the parts will be ready to swap over to the other bike when I have the new wheel ready. I did explain it all i the video.

Should look pretty when it's done and the brake upgrade will be worth the effort, even if it's just peace of mind. Thanks Mike.
