      Recoil is going to differ between the shotguns not only because of weight, but a pistol grip on a shotgun is going to cause more muzzle flip due to a much higher bore axis. Some will argue with me on this, but you can’t cheat physics.
      I own an original 1301 Tactical and it has been fantastic. It will shoot the lightest trap loads or 00Buck without issue.

      Jonathan! Got a big ask since you’re doing shotguns. I’m moving to SE Alaska and plan to carry a semiauto quite a bit when I’m out on my rural property. I’m leaning towards the mossberg 930 SPX, 940 tactical, and the 1301 MD2. Yes sir you guessed it! Side by side compare and contrast video??? Regardless, you rock sir!

    My understanding is vangcomp won't port the 1301 because it has a chrome lined barrel. As a machinist it is definitely possible to port a chrome lined barrel however vangcomp may not have the equipment or the willingness to do it. Do things the wrong way and the chrome could chip off the inside of the barrel.

    • @95dodgev10
      @95dodgev10 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@supertruckertom that would be my 1st pick. I don't know all the ins and outs of an edm so i dont know if they are any cons to it in this application. But i know it would have no issue putting the holes in. Diamond, cbn, and pcd tooling can also cut chrome but because you're actually cutting it away there's pressure from the tool amd so possible chipping of the chrome. Being a tube you naturally have to start on the outside and go in pushing the chrome away from the barrel. If you could start on the inside and go out that would be best for the chrome.

    I have a Gen 2 Langdon 1301, and I like it. It's operates on the blink system. I also have benelli M4s, and the benelli is time tested and battle proven. It is different from the 1301 in the sense that it operates more like a rifle as its a has operating system kinda like an AR. That's partly what's attributed to its g
    Huge success as a combat shotgun. The shape and design if you look at it the tube for the stock serves as a buffer tube where the rear arm of the bolt gets pushed back into the tube in the same way that a AR does. The only real difference is it doesn't have detachable magazines like an AR-15 rifle it's got the load tube. You can get a benelli M4 with the night sights, extended mag tube, and collapsible stock. You have to get sku numbers 11715, 11796, 11732, and 11733. 11732 and 11733 are the Gen 2 versions. 11796 and 11733 are the marine H20 finish versions. Ask me how I know because I have all those except the 11733 and was told it's not exactly the same finish as the Gen 1 H20 models. Hope that helps. I do like my and in general the 1301, but I have to say I have a soft spot for the benelli M4. I will say, though, there's no denying how fast the 1301 cycles.

    I was on the fence between the standard stock and the Mesa Tactical. While I was trying to decide, I got an email announcing the 1301 Mod 2. I went to the gun store that morning and ordered the Mod 2 with the Mesa Tactical stock in FDE. I’ve only run a few hundred rounds of LE slugs through it so far, but it’s pretty slick. My favorite shotgun so far, by quite a bit. The lifter, trigger, and foregrip is definitely worth it over the original 1301.

    Excellent video, thanks. I just got my 1301 Tac mod 2, and am getting it set up. In your video, you mention the problem wherein the QD sling swivel does not index or stay in the QD hole on the barrel clamp. I had the same problem. So I called Beretta, expressed my complaint, and asked if there were similar complaints. The CS rep replied that there were no other similar complaints but said he would send me a replacement barrel clamp/QD base. Two replacement barrel clamps arrived from Beretta and guess what, they both malfunctioned, with three different QD sling swivels. If you shine a light into the QD hole you can plainly see that there is no detent for the QD balls to index into. I would offer that Beretta does have a factory defect and is just not recognizing it. Other than that it is a great gun.

    Nice review! I'm the last guy I know to have the "Mod 1" of the 1301 Tactical so I was a bit bummed to see a Mod 2 now. But my later version of the original has most of the good stuff and I'm not too concerned about the capacity. In fact I'm sticking with the 5 round tube because it's shorter and lighter and because I have a Steiner WML that screws into the end of the tube. I could see getting a Mod 2 down the road but even if I do I'll keep the one I already have.

    I have carried a 1301 on and off duty. Two years ago I would have said the LTT upgrades were worth the extra $$, but they have gone with inferior parts and are no longer installing the Aridus Industries parts which are far superior and bomb proof without reducing their prices to reflect the cheaper parts.
    As you are beginning your shotgun journey, I strongly suggest taking a class or two from some real pros like 360 Performance Shooting or Symtac. Learn Push Pull and you eliminate recoil without trying to buy gadgets to not quite replace skill.

    I bought the A300 patrol about a year ago and perfectly happy with it, no problems. Kicked it around for a while before buying it rather than the 1301 and not sorry. put that $6-700 savings in ammo ! If you need power take the Benelli SBE with a short barrel and put a mag ext tube on it, 3 1/2 “ 00 buck are not even in the same league as any other 00 buck load ! Coyotes at 70-80,yds are no match! Yeah, they kick more, but you don’t get more power without a price. To me the SBE is the simplest operating system there is.

    I know you like accessories, the shell carrier for all my tactical shotguns I use a velcro card. Can mount to any shotgun on the receiver - left side, and stock - right side for right handers, also you can use cards from another shotgun so it crosses all your gear and is light weight and wont shatter if you drop it like a polymer or aluminum can bend. Esstac Shotgun Cards makes one but there are others. Can have 23 rounds on your gun with 2- 8 loops plus the 7 in the mag of the 1301. Can carry spares with ammo and just peel off empties and stick full ones to replace. Pretty slick in the tactical world. Two 8 round cards adds a significant (noticeable) amount of weight to the rear of the gun. ie helps with recoil.

    Definitely want to see the review of the kickoff system.
    Also, some of the things shown as new were on the second version of the first 1301s. The bolt release and extended magazine with the qd barrel clamp. I’m not sure what version Beretta is calling those exactly. The big three differences are the fore end, trigger, and the pro lifter.
    I met a guy with sheriff deputy with a SBS 1301. With the blink gas’s system being so fast it was not an issue.

      They are really nice guns and I was looking for one NOS or lightly used. Got a 1301 instead.

    I don't like pistol grips on shotguns. This would be my go to over a benelli, also the round count on the benelli is import restrictions. Curious how berreta got around that.

    From what I understand, the Grovetech qd mount is full rotation. If you want an anti-rotation version, check out the Noveske flush mount QD. Same thing, but anti-rotation.

    I bought a comp pro model 1301 a couple years ago for under 1500. It’s a really nice shotgun. It does have the kickoff system in its stock. I’m not sure how much better the kickoff system is than just adding a limb saver or similar butt pad, but it does help a bit with the recoil.

    • @heinrichstoltz1356
      @heinrichstoltz1356 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Kickoff works better than a good recoil-pad on its own. The Falcon Strike system is also very nice.

    My brother and I picked up Turkish 12 gauge semi autos from Gun Broker for $129 in 2022.
    (NOT a typo...$129! Dickinson model)
    They looked a lot like this but black.
    They are fun to speed run some shells through!
    We noticed that high FPS shells are needed to ensure they cycle.
    Must use shells +1300 FPS.

    I have 1301 tactical with pistol grip the older version . I don't feel the recoil is anything to be concerned with. .Maybe the different stocks make a difference. I have no trigger time with those to compare. Also wanted to say that I have used Magpul push button QD on mine no issues and used a uncle Mike's quick detach on the mesa stock . Works good for me. And I know the lifter upgrade is available on mod 2 but I really don't see the need for it. Toughen up load your shotgun/and its a 12 gauge not a 410 there might be some recoil....depending on what you think recoil is.....personally I think if you have the green roll on any of them they are the cats meow..

    You're spot on.....that new lifter design is huge. Some people may not like it because they like to ghost load a round on the lifter......

    • @atomicsmith
      @atomicsmith 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      My understanding is you can still ghost load it. The lifter only raises to that position when the bolt OSS locked back. So if you release the bolt and then pull it back you can still drop a shell in like any other semiauto. I haven’t done it myself, but I did find a video somewhere on YT of somebody doing on the new mod2.

    THANKS FOR ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO!
    THE BERETTA 1301 IS EASIER TO CARRY AROUND ALL DAY OR ON LONG RANGE SESSIONS. THE LIGHT WEIGHT AND BALANCE, ALLOWS YOU TO CARRY 12 SHELLS ON CARRIERS AND SIX SHELLS IN THE TUBE WITHOUT THE WEIGHT SLOWING TRANSITION HANDLING. THE "PUSH PULL" TECHNIQUE CAN HELP MANAGE THE RECOIL OF BUCK SHOT AND SLUGS.
    A CHOICE OF LIGHT LOADS AT UP TO 1325 FPS WILL ALSO LIMIT RECOIL. 9 PELLET #00 BUCKSHOT EXAMPLES:
    SELLIER & BELLOT SB12BSG BX (1214FPS) OR FIOCCHI 12EX9P BX (1250FPS).
    ☺ALL CAPS BECAUSE I'M HEARING, ACUITY AND KEYBOARD CHALLENGED.

    I have a brand new 1301 tactical mod 2. The documentation states the magazine will hold 7-2.75 inch shells. I have 7-2.5 inch shells (measured) but can only load 6 in the magazine, any idea why? Or am I missing something
    Answer: I spoke with Beretta this morning and they told me the spring is just tight. It should loosen up after I shoot a number of rounds to it since it’s brand spanking new we’ll see.

    One of your best reviews I have seen.Great job outta you. I went with the 1301 due to the fact I have shorter arm length and a lot of shot guns have a pretty substantial LOP. The 1301 out of the box fit me like a glove. . Really fine firearm. I have a Gen 1 and I am thinking about getting the Gen 2. Love the upgrade on the stock.The same texture that comes om the A 300 and it rocks. I dont know if that alone warrents another , but would love to have one in green or FDE as well. The gas system is actually the fastest cycle on the market. I bought the Mesa tactical pistol grip and it has lightend the recoil substantialy .They also have a butt pad that works amazing as well if you dont want the pistol grip. Again great review

    Wanted to get your opinion. I own a decked out Benelli M4 but am curious about the LTT 1301 (mod 2) they call Gen 3. Is there enough differences between the shotguns to translate into a new experience or do you think they are “interchangeably” similar? Both are/would be range toys.

    Is it a fixed choke? If it is not - which chokes did you use for 00 and for slugs? I think m1014 comes in fixed modified only which probably eliminate the possibility of using slugs (m4 seems to come threaded for chokes, but m1014 is fixed modified)
