The chant that I am reciting is the one that the character Servilia of the Junii, from the HBO's "Rome" series, speaks when she visits the Isis temple. Curiously, this chant bears a great resemblance to a passage from the 2nd Century Latin novel by Apuleius called, "The Golden Ass".
thanks for sharing this video - it's such a beautiful ritual. I also like the words of the prayer itself. I hope you don't mind but I have adopted this prayer for my weekly devotional to Isis. Also because it is so lovely I have adapted some of the wording to honour Lord Dionysos, whom I also honour besides Lady Isis. I would like to clear it with you first though before writing the prayers down...
....As for the historical accuracy of Rome - take everything with a grain of salt! I don't recall there being any historical basis for the portrayal of Octavian's mother for example (the contrary would be true in that case given that she is the mother of the future emperor) and there is no historical evidence for Cleopatra being addicted to opium... (i studied ancient history archaeology and ancient greek as an undergrad)
Your words are beautiful. Thank you for sharing : )
WE ENJOYED YOUR RITUAL...LOVELY...THANKYOU...

It was so beautiful! I loved it :-) I felt at peace with your praye
So beautiful. The Holy Mother lives.
So due to your description I will definitely be watching the Rome series! : D
The Rome series is actually pretty good entertaining. I have no idea how historically accurate it is, however.
This is so beautiful. Where can I find that hymn? Is it online or in a book anywhere?

Wonderful :)
I don't mind at all... after all, it's not my prayer- I didn't write it! ;-)
Yeah, I guess we can't expect entertaining drama to necessarily be historically accurate.
