    These are actually JNR Commercials before April 1, 1987.
    JNR Commercials back then were so cool & more informative unlike of JR today

    I always thought that the initials "JR" were a unique symbol in Japanese when I saw these commercials on YT between 2005 and 2008, but recently 5 years ago I realized that they mean "Japan Railway" and I was quite surprised that they used acronyms. in English since it is in Japan and has been around for more than 50 years, because assuming it was Japanese I would believe that it is a symbol without any knowledge of English.. 🤯🤣
    And I seriously think that these 2 letters were a symbol in just one of what the girl in the commercial does in her hand drawing.

    That young woman should be well into her 50s today, if not, her late 40s.

      I thought the same, Juan M. Sanchez. Quite often when I make one of these videos and I find a clear old photo from 80 or 100 years ago, I think all these people are dead or very old. It blows my mind sometimes. As we develop better recording technology it more and more of the present is being preserved in pristine condition. Can you imagine watching a 4K video of today 50 years from now.

    • @JapaneseHistory
      @JapaneseHistory  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they are both great. JR really update there fleet on a regular basis. I do like the 2000 series with its heavy black and red interior. It keeps in tradition with the Marunouchi line along with the sine wave. I've never had a chance to ride it since it's introduction. Hopefully in 2022 maybe.

    Translated from Google
    Why was it privatized?
    This is the result of Japan National Railways having a debt of 260 billion dollars and becoming a management crisis.

    • @JapaneseHistory
      @JapaneseHistory  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it's the best in the world now. The rest of the world is jealous. In the 2030s more trains will be automated because many people are due to retire.

    • @bumb.wingman
      @bumb.wingman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It cant be omiya, The train on the back is the Tokaido Line, But it is not guaranteed. Shonan Shinjuku Line, Utsunomiya Line, Takasaki Line and the Ueno-Tokyo line uses the same color, So it could be Omiya. But It looks like Nippori or Nishi-Nippori. I cannot guarantee. It could be also Shinagawa.

    • @mikechiu4734
      @mikechiu4734 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think it cant be Omiya too,since the rail does not bend as we can see in the video.And i think the train on the left is the 103 series on the Keihin-Tohoku Line and the right side would be 205 series on yamamote line. On the other hand, the city landscape doesn't look like the northern side of Tokyo, especially the big building on the back. So I think the location would be so where around Shinagawa and Akihabara.

    • @JapaneseHistory
      @JapaneseHistory  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great analysis Mike Chiu I was going to say it was in the Yamanote Line Circle somewhere, but can't put my finger on it exactly. 👍
