    Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a mental health treatment modality that typically helps a client process trauma events so they are not as distressing.

      I have a lot of traumas but I don't even remember my traumas as that bad but my anxiety is so bad right now even though I almost forgot those traumatic events so can it still work for me ?

    • @Slasla1610
      @Slasla1610 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@jetonismaili2836 ofcourse. People think they don't remember but they remember but can't recall. But it's not about remembering the exact same thing that happened in the past, you try to observe when you get the anxiety when you perform a certain task. So it is somehow related to that. Try to resolve it in the present. I am not an expert but i studied this in Dr Gabor mate's book - The myth of normal.

    EMDR therapy is amazing for PTSD, CPTSD for all types of trauma. Neurdivergent types may also find it soothing. I use this type of music (bilateral) with positive affirmations to rewire my subconscious.

      It creates trance. That is how EMDR works. The bilateral stimulation or eye movement creates a mild trance or hypnosis state. When you think about a trauma, problem, or wanted belief/emotion when in trance, the unconscious which is always wanting to help heal you, kicks in and begins healing the trauma, resolving the problem or installing the new belief.

    I’ve been going to therapy for 8 weeks now. In my last session my therapist told me that the next time we meet I am going to do EMDR therapy for the trauma I went through with my brother when he threatened me. I’ve been through a lot of trauma in the last 22+ years, and I have PTSD from it. She wants to start with the day I got into a serious verbal fight with my brother. She gave me a week off to mentally prepare myself for the upcoming EMDR appointment. I am so stressed about it.

    Also, do remember that EMDR should be done with a trained professional & doing bilateral stimulation can be very intense for some of us with trauma, so having a therapist there to help pull you out so you do not fully have flashbacks or re-experience the entire thing again is so important

      Actually, listening to bilateral stimulation is not harmful. Therapists trained in EMDR will tell you they want you to practice these techniques including listening to the music to prepare you for actual EMDR where you try to process the trauma differently. You're supposed to practice it when you are calm.....so when you try to process, you can use these techniques to calm yourself while the trauma resurfaces.

      @ucanleaveyourhaton หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@joanna0988, So true, Joanna ! I guess ppl think it’s like having butterflies in your stomach, or similar. But having a full blown anxiety disorder, is the very definition of hell, in my opinion anyway. It’s debilitating, paralysing, extremely painful, and more. I hate it when ppl try to lecture you about it. Take a walk around the block, they say - that’ll help ! 🫣. Who knows. Lots of things may help. However, what would help most, is if somebody empathised with me, listened to me, and took me seriously. In my own case, sit with me, make me a cup of sweet tea, stroke my hair or my back, because physical relaxation has a profound effect. Others, like yourself, may need something entirely different. The key is communication, and helping a sufferer understand that they’re not alone.
      I hope you’re able to manage your anxiety, and find peace and happiness.
      All the best to you…. ❣️

      best thing to calm down from stress and anxiety is to process rather than repress. allow yourself to grieve, feel sad, angry, hurt, overwhelmed and get it out so you can move past it. that's grieving and eventually after the highs and lows of grieving you will accept and come to terms with what has happened and the anxiety will decrease. you just have to actually let yourself do that first. cry, breathe, and take it one day at a time. i hope you are feeling better ❤️ always talk to your doctor about how to relieve anxiety as things may be different with your neurological issues.
