Stories from the slums... Helping slum women in Cambodia

Optimism NZ is working with NGO - Flame Cambodia - to help the women in Cambodia’s slums to start and grow their own small (micro) businesses - so that they can feed their families and their communities.
Slums are a way of life for a lot of Cambodians, and small makeshift villages pop up by rivers, dumps, rural parts of outlying towns and even in the centre of the capital, Phnom Penh.
The people who live in the slums will probably never get out of the slums, but with the help of some dedicated NGO's, some of them actually do stand a chance of leaving poverty behind, for education, business and a life of opportunity.
Sussan Ockwell takes a camera into the slums to meet some of the women who have small businesses, and listens to their stories.
