    This was the solution I was looking for! Vimwiki todos by itself were not working for me, so thank you for this suggestion!
    I have two questions/video suggestions for you: It would be great to substitute vim start page with your current Taskwarrior tasks (or use it alongside startpages such as vim-startify)
    The other one is on how to make these todos crossplatform.
    Keep up with the great videos!

      Those are some great suggestions. I'm making a video on the cross platform/device vimwiki/taskwarrior usage. I haven't figured out how to customize the startpage with tasks although that would be dope as well. I'm gonna dive into making neovim plugins soon and that sounds like a great first idea!

    In the last video you said you are going to show how to make this TODOs crossplatform, so it's possible to edit on the phone for example. Please make a video about that

    this is so cool yet so overwhelming :/
    how long it take you to get familiar with setup like that?

      I adopted this pretty much exactly one year ago, knowing nothing about bash, vim or any of that. I feel pretty comfortable but I still struggle finding convenient way to incorporate images. Things like that are possible but finding solutions in the first place and especially solutions that fit your workflow can be demanding.

      @@garkeinen7034 for me my biggest issue right now is how to actually organize things so it makes sense and is useful ;/
      btw I think simplicity of cli based software is great for your workflow because of how easily you can modify it :D

    This is great if I never leave my computer. But what if I'm at the grocery store and I want to add a task? How do I capture that and get it into my system?

    • @kandodev
      @kandodev  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      i want to do an entire video on the remote setup but in short, you can use the task warrior server option. Set up a server at inthe.am/ and have your local task warrior instance sync with it. When you’re out and about, the in the am website is perfectly mobile friendly and allows you to add tasks. The second option is to modify your vimwiki by adding a task to it, there’s a bunch of really nice apps that let you change your vimwiki easily like mweb for ios and epsilon notes or markor for android.

      @@kandodev Interesting.
      I'm currently using OmniFocus on OSX/iOS. I'm growing very weary of the "walled garden" and I'm always on the lookout for systems that can be migrated to Linux - like yours!
      You convinced me to give Vimwiki and honest go, which I'm currently doing for notes.

    • @kandodev
      @kandodev  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@bobkoss280 You should definitely give it a try. Vimwiki + Dropbox + mweb for ios (which uses dropbox integration in a way that doesn't count against your dropbox device limits so you can use it for free) gets your vimwiki editable from anywhere. I have to use a macbook for work and I have my vimwiki syncing across my android, work iphone, macbook, linux desktop (and windows wsl when I dual boot into windows) and ipad.
      For notes, it's already perfect. There's still some room for improvements for tasks. One of these days I'm gonna build my own app that does tasks better and integrates better. But for now, it's workable.

      Hey! I’m on manjaro and ios. Have been considering leaving apple (was using macOS also before linux)
      But for the moment I’m also interested on how to integrate stuff to the iphone.
      Maybe the drafts app can be of use? It also works with markdown and tags

    Do you know vim-calendar plugin ? Have you any ideas with integration taskwiki and vim-calendar? Also am trying to find report export with calendar, but can’t. Did you tried to export task with calendar view?

    • @kandodev
      @kandodev  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tried the vim-calendar plugin yet, can you link the github page for it? However, you can use dates in taskwarrior and then task warrior has reporting options that are super configurable. There's also a few scripts that can sync your taskwarrior tasks with google calendar or something.

  • @garkeinen7034

    I like this setup very much but I find it bothersome that when manipulating task database from outside and then saving a file where the previous state of that task is still present, than the change is overwritten. I suppose you have to decide on either using task directly or within vimwiki only. Or creating a hook for fetching current task status before saving.
    Does anyone work with both in parallel? How do you do it?

    • @kandodev
      @kandodev  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you open the file, it should fetch the latest state. I guess it's rare that I edit a task from outside when I have vimwiki open

    ding ding ding..... org-mode......

    • @kandodev
      @kandodev  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm planning to do a comparison vid with org mode and why I still prefer vimwiki. Mostly due to an ability to have a structured hierarchy of files all interlinked together and the ability to easily extend that. Org does everything better in a single doc. But creating a wiki like knowledge base (especially in a common format like markdown) is better done in vimwiki
