In Germany there is a saying for children. It means „Messer, Gabel, Schere, Licht - sind für kleine Kinder nicht.“ ("knife, fork, scissors, light - are not for small children.") Because you can hurt yourself with it. I am German and as a child I often heard this saying from my parents. Rammstein changed the saying a bit. And now it's the adults who inflict the pain on themselves.

Isn't it cool that they publish two songs with the theme of time running out while one song can be totally epic and sad while the second one is a satirical tune? I love that. Kind of hoping that the "Zeit" album will have this in every song. By the way, I love your honest comments on the body positivity and the experience. One of the best reaction channels for sure 👍

It more or less is. Maybe not about "time" itself, but everything else that comes with the passing of time. And I have to say: it's their best album yet! Loved every song, especially "Angst" and "Armee Der Tristen".

I felt like when his face started melting that it might represent the fact that you can do all you want to make yourself look younger and fit......but growing old is inevitable so you might as well embrace the life you have now. And the song just talks about the obsession with mutilating our body just to fit in......but then again it I could always be wrong lol
I personally think that is a part of it, but it also shows the drawbacks and unnatural look of going overboard with plastic surgery. Look at some "beautiful" Hollywood stars who almost mutilated themselves with plastic surgery. I think everyone can think of a star that looks completely fake and due to surgery horrible in old age and worse than people that aged normally. There is of course the element of female actors not getting good roles, because they are "too old" which is another problem that feeds into it in that case.
Rammstein is my favorite band of all time. They started in 1994 and still have all original band members. I very much appreciate all members input in every song whether it's Till's amazing vocals, Richard's bad ass guitar playing and Paul's awesome rhythm on guitar, Ollie slappin' the hell out of the bass, Christoph "Doom" drumming and bringing the noise, and Flake absolutely putting it all together with his keyboard/synthesizer making us go "WOW, I didn't think it could get any better. It just did."

i don't know if you heard about how Rammstein decides witch songs they do and witch not. Every member of Rammstein has a vote. If only one says no to a song, they will not do it. I have a feeling Till did his solo project "Lindemann" just to present things that are to extreme even for Rammstein....so if you dive ever in the solo project "Lindemann" of the lead singer...be warned and aware of the fact that you are in for a even more extreme experience :)
Hell yeah, Lindemann is good stuff, you can hear those Pain influences from Peter Tägtgren too.

Personally the message of fighting insecurity is relatable. Not because of age but being a guy in wheelchair with surgery scars and used to have bad acne now the scars. It has taken quite a while to accept myself as I am. Now at 22 I have no big problems.

I think most people who dislike Rammstein don’t understand what art is. Art is supposed make you feel something. It’s supposed to tell you some about yourself. Art is defined by our reaction to it. It doesn’t have to be a good one for it to be “art”. Just because Rammstein disturbs you, it doesn’t mean they’re tasteless or crude. It just means you had a negative reaction to an amazing piece of art.
Yes I am from Germany and apparently many journalists do not understand the German texts and have no sense of humor. The main thing is that they can complain. Embarrassing. 🤗

Side note my dr is Vietnamese. She was talking about getting her eyes "fixed" so she looks more western & I got really sad cos she's perfect as is. She told me I was right & she didn't do it

I love at the end of the video how you emphasized Till's expressions in the mirror as he left the stage mid-performance in the music video, as he appeared to seemingly still be very unhappy and unsatisfied while gazing at his appearance, despite all of his modifications/work he had done on himself to make himself more "beautiful" or "ideal-looking."
However, a key detail you may have missed is that after taking a glance at himself and his drooping face, Till hand gestures in a way that suggests the thought/feeling of "whatever" or "no problem," implying that he not only may believe the problem will be an easy fix like it's nothing, but more importantly, that this has probably happened to him before in the past and may even be a common occurrence in the guy's life.
That being said, he seemed to be completely unphased by fucking stapling his face skin back together (or whatever that thing was- it looked like a stapler, or whatever it was it looked and sounded very painful); clearly accustomed to all the pain, suffering, and struggle in his endless and continuously failing journey towards creating an ideal physical image of himself. He is now forever stuck within and addicted to the cyclic feedback loop of altering himself in any aspects he appears flawed in, as he receives the short-term benefit of feeling better once the issue is resolved, until he inevitably notices another flaw in himself or something just goes completely and utterly wrong, as it did for Till's character in the music video. This cycle will seemingly never end for him now, since he has gone sucked too far in and has entirely wrecked himself whilst actually trying to benefit or help himself by improving his appearance, for the modifications he made to himself are all practically permanent.
However, this most likely isn't even the guy's fault at all, because as you had also mentioned, various different forms of media / pop culture as a whole try to and often successfully convince us all that we need to make ourselves appear like certain people a certain way which is the "standard," and it is an absolutely wrong and disgusting concept that can very well cause the problems seen in this video, not only physically, but mentally/emotionally as well, as you had also mentioned you have felt in the past yourself.
I absolutely love and have the utmost respect for Rammstein as well, so much so that they're probably my favorite band of all time, and I also believe that they sent out these beautiful messages with shining colors and in their own unique, creative, satirical and unapologetic style of musical and presentational artwork- and all of this for a band that doesn't even sing in my native language! Incredible!
We should all indeed learn to love and accept our inevitably imperfect selves just the way we are (and yes- that's absolutely regardless of signs of aging/graying hair/wrinkles or skin tone/textures or the way we're built as individuals or whatever), and take all our good along with all our bad, while also learning to reject the inexcusably normalized societal standards that bring all of us down and practically benefit nobody.

Most people know Harald Glööckler (the bassist in this video), but the drummer is actually a tribute to the Bogdanoff brothers. They held scientific degrees in mathematics and theoretical physics, and, despite being highly intelligent and educated, succumbed to their obsession for plastic surgery.
Both twins died this year just a few days apart from eachother.
I really love how you really understand this song! Rammstein is such a wonderful phenomenon, and if you speak German, it is really beautiful. But you got it with just watching the video with subtitles. I think their album Zeit (Time) will be something special. This is a reaction video that has actual meaning!

When I first saw this music video, I found it deeply disturbing. On re-watching it, I still find it just as disturbing, but I can see that this feeling is deliberate because Rammstein are pointing out how toxic our celebrity culture is.

Rammstein’s new album just dropped!! I highly recommend checking out Lügen. That song seemed to hit me the hardest and I cried like a big baby listening to it lol. Definitely need to have the lyrics in front of you, to get the full affect. Honestly, great album, as usual.

What I love about this is that all the members of Rammstein are in their 50's at least, these are older white German men who don't necessarily get the same pressure, but they want to platform and discuss this anyway. I think it's important to know that everyone can recognise the issues with body standards in the modern day and I love that they're bringing it to light in their usual satirical style.

For me as a translator, I just feel the urge to write some comments on the translation shwon in the video as some parts are a little off. It really makes understanding the message of the song harder if it weren't for the video. (For instance: "schöner" can mean "nicer" but given the context, it would be better translated as "more beautiful". And "bis ins Gehirn" means "(way) up into your brain" and while "kurz und knapp" most often means "in a nutshell", here it is meant to mean something like "as short as possible" (cut away all the unnecessary stuff)
"vasculature" is completely wrong. (Gefräß, similar to "Fresse" is a word for "face" but with a rather negative connotation similar to "shit face" or "ugly face")
The line with the penis is wrong too. It should be "Your/My penis is seeing (the) sun AGAIN" (if you wanna omit the problem with the "the/my/your" thingy when translating from German to English sometimes using "with a" is good --> "with a penis able to see some sun again"/ a penis that can see some sunshine again (in a song like this, it isn't so important to know whose penis it is. The important part is that it was covered by belly fat and now, that the fat is cut away, the penis is happy that it can see some sunshine again. And the part with the penis being able to feel emotions is. of course, also on purpose as it gives that line a funny undertone.)

Noses... never understood why people complain about their nose (outside of some obvious deformity).. it is a unique characteristic of the individual/race/ethnicity. Ex's of mine always complained about it, and I just never understood, but they were also very social media oriented, so that probably does explain it abit.
So true. Real beauty is something that comes from inside. It is a matter of charisma. For example Theresa Wayman from Warpaint is the most beautiful woman although she has scars on her face.

A little assistance for non-German speakers during the non-sub-titled parts of the video when Till retreats behind the stage and sees his sagging left face in the mirror:
He shouts at Flake, his 'plastic surgeon': "Aaah, ist das dein Ernst? Hör mal, sieh mal, wie das aussieht?!?" followed by "Bring das in Ordnung! Sieh zu!"
Meaning (not a completely literal translation): "Aaah, are you serious?!? Listen up, look at this, how does this look?!?" followed by "Get this fixed! See to it!"
During the surgery scene, the vats are supposed to be the fat that has already been sucked out.
In it Till says a few more words: "Absaugen! Was willste denn da absaugen... das muss fest..." whereupon he is interrupted by Flake approaching him with a syringe.
Again, translation: "Suck it off! What doya wanna suck out... it has to be firmed..." then being interrupted.
With Flake rapidly repeating: "Warte, warte, warte, warte..." as in "wait, wait, wait, wait..." while Till staples his face with a literal paper stapler.
Flake then orders for "Schere!" / "Scissors" from the surgery assistant.
Edit: BTW: all band members are modelled after either other well-known German (origin) persons that have subjected themselves to almost outrageous amounts of plastic surgery and treatments (if you want to google them: Harald Glööckler, Siegfried and Roy, the Botox Twins) or with Till and Flake, as their own extremely satirical versions of themselves.
The effects of excessive plastic surgery can be even more preternaturally occuring sagging of affected tissue after a few years. The application of Botox has been only a fairly recent addition to the arsenal of plastic surgery and beauty treatments, and no long term studies (such as in decades) have been done to show how this will affect people over such periods.
The only thing definite is that the botox treatment is an incredibly diluted form of the botulinum toxin, one of the strongest known toxins on Earth, that affect nerves and muscles by paralyzing them. This causes the shortened tissue strands to relax, thus making tension wrinkles disappear.
How this damages the tissue is up for debate, but I have my doubts that it will have a positive health aspect.

That statue of the 'Venus de Milo" we have at our work. Thousands were copied of the original statue in the 19th century and send to art schools and other art instutions all over Europe. I love that this Video is against woke and against anti-woke at the same time. Against extremes.
