I don't even know how I did this scenario. Got all the dukes except Normandy at the last 3 mins. We all 5v1ed Normandy and then literally just 20 secs before the timer ran out I was crowned king. It was a miracle.
I made the goofy decision to attack one monk that was taking a relic across my territory (I was 1 off what I needed) and it caused a cascade of half the factions to attack me with unrelenting trebs, paladins and champions that they had been stockpiling. Whoops...
what i really like specific is firstly the political gameplay and the possibility to gain additional unique techs by questing. Makes the scenario really dynamic
I played this on moderate. Note for those who haven’t played it yet: If you get to the point where you have to decide between Flanders and Normandy, pick Flanders. Aquitaine was easy. I sent out monks, and had 10 relics before I advanced to Imp, finished with 14. Burgundy was next. I had to spam castles because I am so horrible at both micromanagement and multitasking that I almost got smoked by red in the process of collecting those 14 relics. Normandy followed when I created a 154 unit army (60 throwing axe, 60 two-handed swordsmen, 15 cav archers, 15 paladins, 4 trebuchet) to defeat the Norse (red). Once that was done, I had everyone except for Gascony and Flanders. I threw a lot of tributes (30,000) at Gascony, and they fell in line. That left me with the choice between Flanders and Normandy because the only way to get Flanders is to defeat both Normandy and the Norse. I opted to attack Flanders. Bad choice. Paris becomes a bottleneck, and the backups last forever. Only about half the troops that your allies send even make it to Flanders. I had to bypass Paris with a transport ship so vils could make castles and barracks near Flanders. Winning costs a lot more gold when you attack orange. When I play again, I’ll attack Normandy to get Flanders on my side.
This is the easiest scenario if you collect 8-9 relics before aquataine does and those are easy to collect just put 3 scouts to auto explore. After that you can just boom without declaring war on anyone and then single out Burgundy and Flanders. I completed it in 1:40 hours ingame time
I didn't notice there was a timer the first time I played through and was having too much fun with a 150 pop economy tributing everyone until I had 10 minutes left, had to go back over an hour to try again You can, in fact, tribute everyone into submission though.
Philly is back! And this scenario being a game of politics is very interesting. You don't need to conquer to become king when you can choose the passive route and earn the fealty of all the dukes. I haven't seen a scenario like this before, so it's a nice change of pace compared to all the other scenarios like this that have some direct conflict to complete a passive goal, Babarossa 1 is an example of what I'm talking about. And Philly giving us a brief lesson in French history is very welcome. Please bring Philly on more for more history lessons.
It's kind of a meme by now xD Filthy even mentioned he should be attacked soon and it never happens. Chill boom until post imp instead ^^' I needed 4 try's and always got attacked early, especially by infantry and ships.
It's possible to complete this on hard difficulty with the achievement with about 10-15 mins remaining. Within 5 mins of trying to fast castle, set Aquitaine and Gascony as enemies (provided neither of them are allied with the others) while using castles as defences against the Vikings. After finishing them, eliminate Burgundy and then the other 3 in any order by focusing on destroying all their castles and TCs. An army of Paladins for TCs and Trebs for castles do the trick.
I don't like the ais in these scenarios. The tower and castle spamming destroys the immersion for me. I like it when the towns really look and feel like towns.
Playin on moderate and after 50min everyone is married to everyone and the shit is impossible since one of the factions i got recives 0 influence with so i cant wint by diplomicy is that meant restart? Beat the mission even on moderate before they get degenerated and call for Widding ? Is there like an invisible timer even on moderate ?
The timer only applies on hard mode. But 50 minutes is too late to go on the offensive on some faction, since they'll all attack you as one because of all the weddings. You must get an ally fast and get rolling from there. I found the gold mines on the red enemy's camp to be very useful once they are dealt with.
50% of what Filthydelphia is explaining in the beginning about the historic situation can be read on the bottom right corner infotext while hovering the mousecourser over the scenario. Edit: He is the creator of the mission? Makes sense, Nice! :D
i like philadelphia designs of campaign hopefully he reads my message. it would be cool to have a gulden spurs scenario its the flemish independance battle against the french
A question: If you ally with a duke at 100, can you later turn against him(to do the achievement)? I did this by allying Gascony, Flanders and doing all the King quests, even with my 1200ish micro/marco I struggled to defeat all 6(I was able to defeat Normandy, Aquitane and Gascony in my first time but ran out of time limit) and also, Flanders has a lot of TKs, even with stirrups and farimba I struggle to see how Paladins can kill them. The only cheesy way I can imagine this on hard is to train a bunch of petards and station them at every enemy castle/TC and wait for them to go kaboom(you need to atleast take out 2 factions like this). Then start your train of paladins. The most troublesome enemies are Flanders/Aquitane, they just refuse to die and randomly build TCs/castles
Robert was more of a 1-Sword scenario for me, u basiclly just need to fight the vikings and collect relics/build castles while peacefully booming, once u got 1-2 Allies your Enemies are absolute pushovers
i did not play like you.. i had to crush alone the whole empires one bz one starting with mz neighbourgree to the last the blue and gathered the sll relics 37 relics
I totally cannot handle this. Pressing F3 too frequently will spoil the game, so I decide not to play this. I’d say new campaigns of this dlc are on the whole a bowl of shit, full of disgusting timer, with so high difficulty to finish achievements. I will never buy any dlc if the developers keep making campaigns like these.
I dont like that the ai is supper passive and doesnt fight eaxh other , its kinda lame you can also be super passive and just sen resources to everyone to get to 100

That monk was particullary loved by everyone apparently

Love Filthy's historical outlook and although this scenario is really hard, I respect it.

"The ornly fans" lol that was too good, Filthydelphia was clearly not ready for this level of humor.

You can get the achievement on standard difficulty, we don't mind
There must be something wrong with Ornlu's game, the vikings never attacked him early
It's kind of a meme by now xD

Super fun idea for this scenario
Can we get "ornly fans" merch lol?
Corgi feet pics
My problems with the nature of the DLC to one side: I always love a Filthy scenario!
Great to hear a voice to the name!

I tried this on Standard and almost immediately got overrun by Red
You want to collect as many relics as possible, and to get Aquitaine support
Woe betide you if you touch France's protégé
wait what, i didnt had time count while playing this? or coz iam play in standard difficulty?
nwm i had checked it, and its right coz diificulty

Ornlu the Duke of Chicago

No, once a duke is at 100, you cannot turn on them.

Trust me, the achievement is not a pushover😂that is some goofyy ahh achievement
It seems like a yassified Genghis Khan 1 and with an economy
i did not play like you.. i had to crush alone the whole empires one bz one starting with mz neighbourgree to the last the blue and gathered the sll relics 37 relics

Putting a timer on a campaign map is a really ignorant decision from devs
Tbh I prefer scenarios like this. Also maps smaller than ludicrous.
Wait, is Ornul an Italian? O_o
i got the feat on this one but it wasnt easy... however having 27 relics made it much better :D
I dont like that the ai is supper passive and doesnt fight eaxh other , its kinda lame you can also be super passive and just sen resources to everyone to get to 100
Trying to complete this and take everyone out seems impossible. It's making me hate the game.
seventeenth
Ngl still nothing too creative or new just plain simple scenarios not even trying to hate thats just how all these pervious scenarios looked and felt
