my favorite plastic yoyo is the replay yoyo (you should consider getting it, its really good and only $16), and fav metal yoyo is the minute, its small, fast, and balanced.
Protostar beats both in terms of performance. Finger spins probably not though, and this is coming from a replay pro and Sky A owner I only tried the protostar once and it blown my mind -_-
I do agree that metal is better in some ways over plastic. One of my plastic yoyos is a velocity but for some reason on the pro setting it is not unresponsive anymore. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Btw the bearing is clean. Thanks!
I would suggest for beginners get a hybrid like protostar or darkmagic because my first yoyo was the protostar now i have a quash,888,and horizon but if you wanna get strait to metal i suggest quash or dv888
I work in a toyshop and I've been playing with the demo velocity for about two weeks. Now that I can do a few tricks I want to buy one. I want the dv888 but we don't sell the berings when in ready to switch

Plastic- YYF Northstar Metal-YYF Shutter/YoYofficer Lava Plastic and Metal are equally good in my opinion. However, I learned almost every trick I know on a YYF OneStar, and it's still one of my favourites.
Personally I like metal, my favorite so far is my 2015 wyyc yyf x yye metal replay. Thats only because my collection and experience with metal yoyos is quite limited.

The one you are not going to worry about smashing off a floor every now and then. The only way to improve is to play, and you're not going to give it 100% if you are afraid of your throw hitting something.
i think is better the metal yoyo, i love the metal yoyos ahahah. My favorite plastic yoyo is YYF NorthStar AuroraBorealis, is really good, but you do not win the metal. My favorite metal yoyo is YYF Shutter with dif-e-yo konkave bearing is really really cool! I also like the YYF Horizon (I would like to try the Supernova) but definitely wins Shutter ahahah

I like plastic yoyos because they don't do as much damage when I get hit by it and I don't have to worry about dings or scratches. I’m a die hard Duncan enthusiast when I was 10-12 Played a Duncan pulse Yoyo (plastic) I’m 25 now I switched 3 months ago or so I just got a Duncan origami unknown and a Duncan torque in the mail for Christmas..I’m never looking back at plastic yo-yos.😊
Is the classic a good yoyo? I'm still around intermediate level , I can do a few cool tricks and double or nothing , and I'm still using the classic that I got when I started yoyoing (modded with silicon and an unresponsive bearing) .
Great topic. I decided to make a full plastic year. I have what I consider to be the best plastics I've tried so far, especially the Addiction and the Crazy-D, and they offer everything I need, even for competition play. However, I miss metal yoyos soooo much right now that I'll not stick to this resolution. It's not about performance, I miss the feeling of cold aluminium in my hands, and I found an awesome deal on a Draupnir :)
I am a super new beginner!! I have a plastic yoyo and metal yoyo and I find doing some stuff is easier on plastic and I cant do it on the metal one. Why is that?
I know it's cause I suck but is there another reason this could be? One is a metal yoyo king and the other is my old 1999 plastic cheap yomega firestorm wing which was like 5 bucks but yet I find it easier doing tricks on my old ass 5 dollar yoyo rather than my 20 dollar metal yoyo king.
Duncan makes better yoyos than Magic, but there are better yoyos than Duncan, too. Try something by Yoyofactory, or One Drop, or even CLYW, if you've got the money to spend. I would say Yoyojam, but unfortunately, they've closed. Which is sad.
I think it a tie for me because if you drop a metal yoyo you lose paint and put a small dent in it when i plastic doesn't change very much. But metal spins longer. looks cooler . And is smoother. Both are for good for unresponsive play . Just look at the dark magic 2 it's has a plastic body with metal rims for perfect play that's just my opinion tho

My first yoyo was a yomega cross fire and before I didn't know what to do with the loop at the end of the string and I through that thing so many times yet the thing that killed it was the excel stripping not it breaking
Look for Duncan Metal Drifter $20 dollar. Yes I had try its responsive it play 1a or 5a. It will sleep about 45 second Just make sure you buy more string the one come with it may not last as long but maybe to me 3 weeks now still going. Order about 25 or 50 string I have like 400 string I order and 50 plus Pads 19mm.
Ihave a recess first base plastic. And t5,t8,m001 by magic yoyo and the 3magic yoyos all do good(t5best of the 3). All 3magic yoyo spin WAY longer then my plastic first base. If I mess up a trick on the metal I have time to try it again before it dies. Plastic dies right away on first mess up. My first base plastic, I broke it my 2week of having it...plastic was waste of 20 bucks.

I bought my first yoyo its hades wolf from auldey and its plastic i have bang my yoyo to my floor it didnt crack but it just a little damage, i mean so little that i only just scratch and dent just a frikin tiny bit so i think its good quality

there are plastics that are very quiet if not silent, not all metals are quiet like that but most yoyofactory metals are kinda loud in my opinion, i have a shutter and a yyr diffusion 2, and diffusion is literally silent

I started of yo-yoing when my teacher gave me one of those like 50 cent yo-yos I liked that yo-yo a lot so I bought a auto wind Duncan yo-yo and in the same order a metal racer an advanced yo-yo I can’t get past walking the dog so far I should have started easy but I love that metal yo-yo it’s super fun
