Hello, I know this is an old video and for other readers, it's very easy to take the motor back cover off to replace the grinder. first unplug, take the motor cover plate off just like the guy did, remove the ground and two wires. Now, look under the motor, there are 4 screws holding it in place, once removed, the motor will pull out. You'll see 4 bolts on the back of the motor (where he removed the air vents), take out all 4 bolts from the cover plate. Once removed, on the side of the motor and about 1 inch back, you'll see two areas where you can place a large screwdriver to tap the plate off. Tap evenly on both sides, it's only held on by a 1/8 inch rim. Now slightly rock the plate back and forth pulling away from the motor because the cover is attached to a bearing, don't worry, the bearing won't pull off when removing the cover. Now that the cover is removed, you'll see one small screw holding the capacitor in place. remove the old and replace with new. Also, on the bottom of the capacitor there is an alignment pattern so that the capacitor fits in place just right. You'll know if its wrong because the capacitor will feel like it's an 1/16 inch too large. Adjust, slide it on, replace the screw with the capacitor holder. Simple. The replacement should take about 15 minutes and about the same amount of time the video guy took to remove the air flow grid. Take pictures of your wiring, this is always useful even if there are only 3 wires.
I have to thanks you , i bought a nearly new Bunn G1 for 75CAD and once i got home and tried it it wasnt working ... the problem was not the capacitor ... i wasnt pushing the hook for the bag 😂.... 🤜
Have to repeat I'm a shop owner and not an electrician. I believe in my case thinking back that it was making no noise at all, completely dead. My thought though would be, first thing make sure that there is nothing in the burrs that has it stuck. To clear out anything that may be in there you just have to turn the unit off, and turn the motor a few times with a screwdriver etc making sure the burrs rotate. If that doesn't fix it, since the cap is so inexpensive I would change that out next with the hope maybe it's getting some power just not enough to actually turn the motor. Past those two options I wouldn't know what else to look to next.
@@DrMikeBucknell What about the relay in the bottom? was it clicking on at all? i have one that when i hit start, the relay clicks on but will click off as soon as i release the start button.
@@chrismurphy5564 To be honest this was three years ago and haven't had a single problem with the unit since. I would think if you're getting any function at all that it's getting power so capacitor might not be the problem, however in my experience with various equipment that I would start by changing the cap and see if that resolves it. If not, replace the relay?

We've had more than our fair share of occurrences employees will tell us "it's broken" for this exact reason haha!
Thanks for the video! Very helpful
Hey there, I just bought a Bunn G3. What are the symptoms for a failing cap? The motor in mine is just buzzing quietly.

The size (diameter) of burr ?
Whatever size comes standard in the machine, I didn't change the burr
