    My top 5 albums by pet shop boys
    1) Bilingual
    2) Behaviour
    3) Very
    4) Yes
    5) Actually
    Its not an easy task seeing pet shop boys are consistently the most brilliant music act of all time

      I totally agree that it’s so hard to rank such a wonderful act like PSB. Great Top 5 though!

    For me I rank PSB in tiers. Tier 1 is Please and Introspective. Tier 2 is Actually and Behaviour. Tier 3 is Very - Which is unique for being worse than anything released before it, but better than anything released after it. Tier 4 is Fundamental, Nightlife, Super, Electric and Yes. Tier 5 is Hotspot, Bilingual, Release and Elysium. Now ranking within the tiers is very very hard. I have attempted it many times, but constantly changes my mind.

      It’s very difficult to rank such a great act, and my mind has changed a few times over the years

      Thanks for your Top 10! Even the albums I ranked low down, there’s still plenty to live on them, PSB are just a consistently excellent act over the decades

      I agree with you that the first 5 albums are also the 5 best, although I would order them differently. The 1986-1993 period is just unbeatable. By anyone.

      It was a bit of a toss-up between Actually and Very for #1 as I love them both but ultimately I picked Actually as I’ve loved it for that few years longer

    Thoughtful presentation. And can't quibble with much in the way of rankings. I would however had Introspective at *3. When I think of that quartet of releases, Actually thru Very.... sublime.

    • @JimmyBarnesYT

      That’s a fair shout, I do love Introspective a lot

    I think I prefer the 80's PSB stuff. I know you'' disagree but I hated Go West. I didn't exactly like the village people anyway and that cover was just way over the top. They were better making their own stuff.
    Fave tracks are probably West End Girls and it's a Sin.

      Yes I know how you feel about Go West you grumpy old goat. Bunty loves that 😂

    Where would you rank the new album on this list?

    • @JimmyBarnesYT
      @JimmyBarnesYT  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Coincidentally I only listened to Nonetheless for the first time this morning! I enjoyed it though didn’t find it one of their very best. I’d probably have to give it a few more listens to determine its place but I feel it’d rank somewhere in the middle

    You’ll hate me for saying this but I find the PSB stuff to all sound very similar and this just endorsed that (I know this is just the opinion of an uneducated man)

    • @JimmyBarnesYT
      @JimmyBarnesYT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re absolutely right… about being uneducated, not any of the other bollards you just spoke 😂

    Very similar to my ranking, but I rank Actually much lower and Super is my #14. My #1 is Very.

    • @JimmyBarnesYT
      @JimmyBarnesYT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      PSB have released so many albums and almost all of them excellent, it’s understandable each fans rankings would differ somewhat. Thanks for watching and commenting! 🙂

      @@JimmyBarnesYT Thanks! Btw, where would you put Relentless in the list?

    • @JimmyBarnesYT
      @JimmyBarnesYT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting question! I didn’t include it here as it’s never had an official standalone release, but if it had, I think it’d be around the midway point of the chart

    'Hotspot' sounds incredibly dated for 2020! - it could have been made in the late 90's. I also agree with 'Release', and 'Nightlife' being ranked so low. The former ('Release') sounds like PSB's trying to cover Oasis tracks or writing Oasis-style pastiche songs. While 'Nightlife' sounds like genetic late 90's dance music - you wouldn't know it was the PSB's without Neil's vocals.
    These two albums are pretty forgettable tbh. Not worth bothering with - only really hardcore PSB fans will see anything in either album.
    While 'Hotspot' doesn't say anything unique or different, it just sounds like it was recorded 20 years earlier and then forgotten about. Another PSB's album not worth listening to in full, in imo.

      I must admit I think I’ve only listened to Hotspot twice, oddly enough! Thanks for watching

    Interesting list I respect your list but I would put Behaviour higher than Very I think Behaviour is a much better album than Very

      A fair point, we all have different favourites and PSB have such an amazing library of music it’s pretty hard to determine these rankings of such great albums!
