The way I look at this song is North said "Dad I made a rap let me sing it to ya" and Ye decided to uplift his daughter and give her a platform as apposed to crushing her self esteem. The song is a gentle appreciation of daughters, as apposed to some hard hip hop shit ya'll be craving. I'd rather the music be something different to whats come / what everyone else is currently doing, so I ain't mad at it.
Just to add on, if you or I want to listen to the "Old Kanye", we can go and do that, there's 10 whole studio albums plus mixtapes. The man is pushing 50 and the music is gonna reflect that, which we've already seen with Jesus Is King. I'd rather an artist actually act their age and speak on their current feelings in life than try to emulate what once was. The market is saturated with people wanting to be like a young Kanye West in style, so if you want that then it's not hard to find

Remember when Kanye used to make good music back in the mid to late 2000s?…. I’m specifically referring to songs like “Gold Digger”, “Power”, “Stronger”, “Flashing Lights”, “All Of The Lights” ft. Rihanna etc…. Hell Hip Hop & R&B as whole was really good back then
Yeah but the man is near 50, and doesn't have the same hunger for music as he did when he was young. Plus Hip Hop has basically been played out in the sense that EVERYTHING has been spoken on, from nearly every perspective it can be. That's why Country and Alt Pop-Rock is starting to pop off again in the US. I'm grateful we have 10 whole albums of old ye to listen to, but those times are gone. He probably knows that and is why he's pushing his genres out differently.

The best intentions don't make up for a boring "song". Cute? Sure. Worth anyone outside of direct family members listening to? Barely. If this is the attempt to "break his daughter into the industry", it wasn't to show off any talent in which to build upon, but rather to get her name and face out there with established members, pains me to side with Kim here but it's exactly the same thing he was upset at Kim for doing. In the end, people will listen once or twice for the novelty, and in two weeks it'll be forgotten. If North does become "a force" in music, it'll be off something other than this song. And it's ok to accept that for what it is. We've seen it time and again with nepo musicians, there's no new ground being broken here.
