    I live in Delaware. Delaware is 100% connected to Philly. Most of us are diehard Eagle fans and many philly kids are at Delaware State Univ. Honestly, we have to do better as a community when we are speaking on stuff. Many football players want to coach. Whyte coaches have entered into coaching the same way. We overly criticize. The northeast region, including Philly, Jersey, Delaware, MD, and DC is all one big connected area.
    It is 100% natural for D Jack to want to coach. I played in college and most of my friends and old teammates want to coach. D Jack just has the resources to make it happen.

    Finally... Thank you for the journalism D Gray. Just because someone says they always wanted to coach at an HBCU, doesn't mean that they are qualified to lead young black men on and off the field. College football is officially semi-pro ball. The education, experience, and environment of these institution are all secondary characteristics. I know it has been that way for years at power PWIs, but HBCUs have been able to preserve the importance of the institutional legacy until now. What makes him not qualified…. Has he not played this game at the highest levels for 15 years is he not a college grad is he not a professional it must be because he is young and black because if this was just some coaches son from a white family this episode would not even exist kills me how we hate our own kind doing better and getting opportunities

    • @Mr_Jones_III

      Fair point on the issue of qualification although it is unclear as to whether he has a college degree (he left Cal early and no where does anyone say he completed his degree). My comment was more about the celebrity status making the significance of this being an HBCU institution almost irrelevant.

    Desean Jackson resume is that he's a 14 year NFL player and definitely al hall of famer. To think he doesn't know football enough to at minimum coach it is asinine. being a great nfl player allows you to skip the everyday processes. It's not your job to question why anyone do anything. The regular person don't have the ex nfl players privilege. Why do you get to question another man's motivation. I hate the crab in a barrel mentality WE have. If he choose to use del.st as a stepping g stone, so what. No coach black or white goes to saying I'm retiring. These big name players will improve the bottom line, MONEY

    classic "crab & barrell" mentality. The boat can never rise for us without internal controversey. When the owner of the Colt's hired Jeff Saturday, an ESPN analyst, hot of the set, to coach the Colts, where was the "questioning"? Where was the ulterior motive conversation. We are not talking a small HBCU, we are talking about an NFL TEAM. If nothing else, on Jeff's resume it says: NFL player, Sports Analyst AND Former NFL Coach - despite the hiring or motivation. Instead of coming in here, outright, saying: What a wonderful time it is to be alive and see so many diverse African American former players getting a shot at coaching (even if they dont have seasoned coaching resumes like virtual ALL their caucasian counterparts in the past - and present) you give pause? How about the angle that Chip Kelly tried to blackball him and ruin his career, now he has a chance to prove that not only was that worng but could he eventually be as good a coach and motivate men positively. A redemption arc if you will. "We" ALWAYS find a way to cast doubt or destroy each others come up. Damn this is tragic. But let me ask you this, because i could be totally wrong. Did you make a similar story, questoning the motivation of bum azz, Trent Dilfer, who coaches at UAB? Did you ask why he got hired? He is a HORRIBLE coach that should have never got hired. He humiliated one of his african american assistant coaches on the sidlines so bad last year that it made National headlines. You have any reservations or hot takes on that? Why undercut this man's come up? Smh.

    • @Mr_Jones_III
      @Mr_Jones_III 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

      Fair points sir. No one knows the motivations of a man's heart. However if this is journalism and not just entertainment media then asking why this significant D1 HBCU would hire him with no administrative experience beyond one season as a High School OC is also fair.
      Your references to Saturday and Dilfer don't hold up under that light. Both of which had been high school head coaches for several years. The only conclusion then is that being a head coach at an HBCU is now the equivalent to being a 'new' head coach at a High School if you have celebrity status? I whole heartedly reject that notion.

    • @number1chiefROKKA
      @number1chiefROKKA 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @ What you and this reporter seem to miss is that the standard at which you are holding desean to is, at THIS moment, a tangential concern - at best. We can be pedantic and go case by case the merits of high school coaching experience vs no coaching experience at all. Or I could detail how improbable and stark the contrast - AND THE OPPORTUNITY it is - to go from the ESPN set to coaching an NFL TEAM IS with previous high school coaching experience being several years removed. But these are the tedious, consistent, confuscating side rants that derail our collective come up. The point is - instead of outright celebrating this man’s accomplishment -“we” always, without fail, have to be our own worst critics.
      I respectfully disagree with your retort, but appreciate your opinion on the matter.

    • @Mr_Jones_III
      @Mr_Jones_III 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      I agree that DeSean should be celebrated for his desire to serve these young men at an HBCU that he has some affiliation with (some reports say DSU legend John Taylor is his uncle) full stop.
      Perhaps the story going forward is about what DSU (and NSU for that matter) need to do to support these coaches with adequate assistant coach budgets and recruiting budget. Also, compliance offices will need to be top notch as we know the NCAA scrutiny will be unjustifiably significant. These are better stories but they don't grab 👀.
      Great discourse.

Look at Sugar Daddy Belichick and his arrangement for his son. Where his son has to do no interviews but gets a HC job. As for Delaware state to me there is no downside. To me they need to capitalize and take full advantage. To me the lesson from JSU was take full advantage of your opportunities while you have a mega star. JSU imho didn’t maximize there opportunity but we can see they did benefit. Now LOH I hope you take full advantage of the energy that Coach Vick And Coach DJ can possibly bring

      He was getting courtesy interviews and none of them gave him an opportunity because they didn't think he was ready. • @TheIkeman74
      @TheIkeman74 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @KJ-tf3vi If you're going to disagree with someone, it really helps to be informed on the topic. EVERY interview is a courtesy until someone says you're hired. I trust Mr Sanders is wise enough to know which jobs he was a serious candidate for. Secondly, the plan was never to coach Shedeur. Shilo was already at SC and Shedeur (despite other offers) was headed to Florida Atlantic. Because they were going to start him as a freshman. JSU n Shedeur timetable happened to coincide. But it was never pre-planned. JSU or no JSU, it was just a matter of time, CP was going to happen. The school didn't make the coach.

    Desean was in the league a long time. He has a case for HOF although it's not strong since his stats are a bit short. But. He has just as much experience coaching as MV7 has and was in the league longer. We support Vick so not sure why you're coming down on this man and in fact are actually questioning his character. Truthfully you sound like the definition of a hater.
    There are no guarantees but as Vick said at his press conference, football is what these guys do. They've been playing pretty much all their lives and they are experts in the field. Desean is financially set for life, he has nothing to gain from doing this other than wanting to participate in leading the young men. He also has two sons of his own so his interest in coaching isn't farfetched.
    There's probably a lot of guys like him who have always wanted to coach, but until they saw Prime do it they weren't aware that it was possible for them and just kept their desire in their hearts.
    Black coaches are the future and are exactly what White coaches have feared. Which is why they've been gaslighted away from those roles.
    At this point now that we are enjoying breakthroughs, we don't need any crabs in the barrel people of our own race adding to the unfounded skepticism. Especially when most football players are Black. So why shouldn't they be led by their own.
    Football is not rocket science. Desean is qualified. So don't hate. Congratulate. And emulate. If you can. 😅

      @ If you look at all ex players who became coaches, regardless of race, probably the vast majority of them were not QBs. There's bunches of them so evidently past QB play is not a requirement. And Desean is more than likely someone who just identifies with the culture socially because he's from LA, an area that's heavy into that. Although he himself was not raised that way and obviously does not personally live like a gangster. The man has overwhelming NFL experience and no criminal record whatsoever. He probably even has good credit. There's nothing stopping him from qualifying and serving. Delaware State is lucky to have him and clearly knows that. They also would have done their due diligence before any hire. Here we have a Black man who is stepping up. In a world where there can be few who are able or willing to do so. He deserves no less than the benefit of the doubt. So it's a damn shame that it be your own who are the first to try to tear you down. This video is a disgrace in my opinion.

    When you said, " I just don't know where this came from"? You reminded me of what I think of the wytes that couldn't stop saying deion was leaving. They was saying it because they couldn't mentally picture it. Why? They didn't know enough about the situation. You need to study on DJ. Understand his connections in philly and DC, as well LA. His connections with the different HC too. It will work itself out.

    I think Shaquille O'Neal should get a coaching spot. He will bring in lots of money and beaucoup attention to a program... Any takers??? AA&M? Valley???. If you think I am being absurd...I am. We have crossed the rubicon and somewhere in this whole story HBCUs will cease to be taken seriously. Please stop HBCUs. This getting entirely out of hand. #theatreoftheabsurd

    Wouldn't a better approach be , invite him on, and interview him, interview the AD, interview the players.
    And Grow your Channel. How are representing HBCUs and the growth and ranting like this, your un-informed because you don't even know he lived in the area.
    You have a platform to grow the HBCU brand and this all you can put out?

It's wayyyy too early to be any kind of negative on this Brother. His Name recognition is gonna' bring in some upgraded talent. Maybe, you on a steep learning curve.

      Please stop with the Deion was done wrong at Jackson State University or Jackson MS that narrative that has been debunked already. Having various youth football camps around the nation does not mean you are qualified to coach a college football program: D1FBS/FCS, D2, D3, NAIA or JUCO

    Ok I wasnt going to say anything but you to be skeptical and be negative on this is crazy . Heres some Info for you that might help you be not so skeptical if it may . 1 There arent any HBCUs in Cali 2 Hes played in the Northeast most of his Career if I remember correctly 85 percent 3 DState isnt that far from Philly . 4 this is a power move for D state 5 DJack has been doing work in that community for years . Black Coaches have to prove themselves harder because the jobs arent really open to them. You cant compare D Jackson to the other Coaches you mention due to fact style of play as well as era. Its his opening into coaching and get to FBS

    This is interesting that people still holding on to what happened with Coach Prime...but didn't look at the flip side in Eddie George...who is still building anfld just got Tennessee State to the playoffs. Bubba Mcdowell got fired from PV even though they won the west two years ago...so this no guarantee...but the Meac must take advantage of having two pros and one Icon in particular in Mike Vick....position themselves better than the Swac did with coach prime especially with the upcoming media rights deal.

    Desean Jackson doesn’t seem mature enough to be a Head Coach. Let’s sit back and see how this plays out though. Wish Delaware State the best and hope this doesn’t become another Ed Reed situation. Jackson has always been hella erratic. He didn’t take or give as many hits as Ed Reed through his career so maybe his CTE isn’t as bad.

      You do realize he is not the first pro football player to coach at a past or present at an HBCU right. Nobody is hating on DJ they are giving their honest opinion on his hiring at Delaware State. Honestly this hire just didnt make sense and is very questionable if you want to be honest. Crazyman Ed Reed would have been a better hire at Delaware St, and had a better coaching resume. He is so crazy acting that he wouldnt be a good fit neither.
