Welcome to Booktube!!! It seems like we might have similar taste in books! I think I also like books about memory, and books that have subtle art references, and moral ambiguities. Some other tropes that I really enjoy are surrogate families, multiple plot threads that come together seamlessly at the end, and books that are bookish (feature a character who is bookish, or a bookshop, or author). Anyway, I'm so glad that you started your channel! It's already a new favorite of mine 💕📚
Thank you so much for your lovely comment Marissa, it means a lot! ❤ I find I think a lot about kind of nebulous and abstract things like concepts and themes over more concrete ones like specific tropes but I love all the ones you mentioned too! You're too kind! 💕🙈
Welcome to the Booktube family, so happy to have you here! Your tastes in reading are truly unique & appreciated 😊📚 Can't wait to see more of your content as your channel keeps on growing! I have a very personal question for you. Which popular genres do you really enjoy reading the most?
Welcome to the BookTube community! I also started my channel as a fun hobby. Best of luck with your channel - I’m looking forward to watching more of your videos! 😎📚👍
Hi, Karla! I'm looking forward to hearing about all bookish things you want to share with us. From an oldie content creator to a newbie, welcome aboard. We're so glad to have you here!
Welcome to Booktube! We have crossover interests in nonfiction, art, communication with some classic lit, so I look forward to hearing more of what you read.
Welcome to BookTube! I'm glad you took the step and did your first video! I clicked the subscribe button, and I'm looking forward to seeing more from you! :-)
Hey Karla! 👋🏻 Welcome to the Booktube community. 😊 Scholastic is AMAZING! 🤩 Since I’m an educator (currently Title 1 tutor), I still buy books from Scholastic. My son Andrew graduated in Art with concentration in Art History. You and I have some genres in common. I enjoy memoirs and historical fiction. Do you read nonfiction and middle grade? I recently read The Mona Lisa Vanishes, written by Nicholas Day and illustrated by Brett Helquist. It’s a wonderful narrative nonfiction and art-related. I enjoyed your newbie tag. I’m your 50th subscriber.🎉 Best wishes on your Booktube journey. 📚
Hi Kat, Thank you! I love nonfiction but I don’t typically read middle grade. The Mona Lisa Vanishes sounds wonderful, I’ll have to check it out! Thank you for being my 50th subscriber! 😄💜
Hi and welcome to book tube. Pretty new to all this malarkey myself and still finding my way around. I hope you get some great reads and good luck to your channel.
Hey Karla! Welcome to booktube. We’re glad to have you here. You’ll find tons of bookish friends to chat books with. That’s awesome that you’re bilingual! What part of Mexico did you grow up in? I grew up about 15 minutes north of the Tijuana/San Diego border and am bilingual too! If you ever want to chat books in Spanish, feel free to reach out! I read a lot of biographies, memoirs, etc. so I’ve got you on recs for those too. :) I like themes that relate to current events or social topics. I need my books to have deep meaning or say something powerful. I don’t do any romance at all. 😅 I’ve subscribed and look forward to seeing more from you.
Thank you so much Kaitlin! I grew up in Sonora. English is definitely more dominant for me at this point. My husband doesn't speak Spanish so I don't get to practice much so I get very rusty. But I've been trying to incorporate more reading in Spanish so I'll definitely look to you for more recs! And of course chat about them too :) I'm not much into romance either haha! You're my first subscriber (aside from family) so thank you so much! ♥ I'm so excited writing down ideas for videos and rehearsing in my head all day!
@@karlalikestoread if you want anything to try in Spanish anytime soon, No Soy Roto by Jesse Leon is a fantastic memoir. For fiction, Nuestra Parte De Noche by Mariana Enriquez is really good. The translation is done really well too if you prefer to read it in English. And that makes me happy to be your first non-family subscriber! 💜
Hi Karla and welcome to booktube! 💕 I hope this isn’t weird but your voice is so calming. I could listen to you talk forever! You will do great here 💕💕

Welcome to BookTube. It's indeed a fun hobby. Looking forward to seeing some historical fiction videos. I'm currently reading Epitaph by Mary Doria Russell. It's the follow-up to her novel Doc. Both are about the famous wild west gambler Doc Holliday. I'm enjoying it very much. I'm a bit new to reading, so I don't have a fixed taste yet. So I can't answer your question. But I'm not really a fan of a character driven plots. The ones that solely depend on character developments, that is.
Hi Annie! Are you participating in the historical fiction readathon for June that's being organized by Shelly @Shellyish? I'm planning on taking part and making some videos for it! Either way you'll find lots of recommendations with the tag #readhistoricalfiction2024. Thanks for sharing your current read! I'm very character driven in my reading so you'll be my go to for getting out of my comfort zone! 🙂
@@karlalikestoread No I haven't heard of that reading event. Sounds like fun. I'm reading this novel for June on the Range. This is a western reading event hosted by Michael K. Vaughan.
