JC hit the nail on the head with the puzzle metaphor and it works for both companies.
AEW - The pieces are there and a picture can be formed, but no one can bring the different groupings together.
WWE - They can put the puzzle together, but no matter what box of pieces you open, the same picture is assembled every time.

I always think their little "four pillars" thing is hilarious because it's nowhere remotely close to the "four pillars of heaven" of Japan. Those guys back in the day were given that name because they were consistently the best workers and focal point All Japan and Japanese wrestling as a whole at some points.
True. Plus it was like AEW announced that these 4 were pillars ahead of time without allowing it to develop naturally. Only MJF can legitimately claim to be a pillar. Guevara, Darby, and Jungle Boy have all been booked to shit.
Looking back, it should have been MJF, Punk, Danielson and…..whoever else Khanman wants. Twinkletoes, Hangma’am Page, whoever.

When you think the best you're going to get is Jungle Boy, Darby, MJF and Sammy and you don't actually know if they're ready for that spot this is what happens.

The TNT Title was supposed to be an open challenge title to showcase other talent and possibly bring them on. That's how Cody had it in the beginning. And it worked. That's how some of us got introduced to Starks and Eddie Kingston. Now it has become this hot potato bullshit. It's a meaningless title. It carries no prestige.
On the other hand, you have the International Title that's just as meaningless even though you have one champion defending it often. But it lacks prestige because the champion is a goof. 😂😂😂
I would say already being rebranded after having a geographically questionable name buried that title long before Pockets got a hold of it 😂. You're basically just trying to figure how deep the belt is buried at this point

As a really new AEW viewer who previously just reads about it and listens to corny...
1. Not much selling in matches
2. Some matches are good, some stink.
3. Other than MJF, no one can cut a good promo.
4. It gives me some laughs every week. When wardlow pins someone it's this... awkward intimate pin where it looks like he's having relations with his opponent. There's always something like this to laugh at
5. Agree with Jim that Darby is special
6. I like that they utilize luchadores.
All in all it's worth my two hours to watch.
I could swear like 2 or 3 years ago when wardlow and moxley had a match in ohio somewhere either Cincinnati or Cleveland, that it was wardlows hometown. ?
That’s actually both of their hometowns. Wardlow is from Cleveland, and as a resident of Cincinnati I reluctantly admit, Jon “Blood Geyser” Moxley is from Cincinnati.

Jim should push this more, get Hobbs on this Punk show.. as long as it is confirmed Punk has some sort of creative final say. Keep Tony far away from the Punk show unless he needs to drop off a sack of gold or some checks.
The 4 pillars are not built to code and if they were actually needed to carry anything, only MJF has a chance. Darby could be something if he doesn't cripple himself with some ridiculous, nonsense spot. sammy could be a respectable challenger if he wasn't jerichos minion and like darby, he will either cripple himself within 2years of give someone else brain damage. and jungle boy is devoid of charisma, and knows it, which somehow makes it even worse.
They were built on a shifty (and shitty) foundation.
I would argue Jungle Boy had charisma at one point based on his look and lineage to a popular Hollywood actor, but his total lack of growth, maintaining his spot by staying in the Cali Contingent, and his disinterest on fixing any of his shortcomings is all negative charism/go-away heat at this point. Any number of people on that roster would benefit more from the pushes he continues to get in the mix on this. Darby has grown as an athlete and Sammy at least gets proper heel heat even if he's still Jerico's stooge
Bungle Jack should have been in a stable with MJF. The cocky rich kids. But nooo….he had to try to play Fred Flintstone with Dino Douche and Dwarf Dongsucker. He has the personality of a saltine cracker and is about as believable as a used-car-dealer-turned-politician.

The problem with Hobbs and Warlow booking is the only person Tony knows how to book strong is Pockets. His getting wins every week is what they should of been doing with one or both of them. Not this on TV off TV and then lose more then win crap.

You can usually count on luchadores to about to do at least two things: A spectacular jumping attack, and an intricate submission hold. What people don't seem to realize is that there are cruiserweight luchadores, legitimate over 200 lbs cruiserweight luchadores, not that I have anything against the welterweights, but Vikingo Junior aint the best among them. Yeah, I know, he's Mega Champion, AEW has a deal with AAA you dealt the wrong card, now reshuffle the deck and try your hand with CMLL. If it isn't going to be the best of the welterweights, than get a real cruiserweight who at least has a good looking body in addition to the flip and hold. CMLL has heavyweight, over 200lbs divisions too. You don't need to put up with AAA putting the mega belt on a no psychology shrimp because of who is dad was. Kommader does a good jumping and tight rope walking, but Blue Diamond can do almost as good while weighing over fifty pounds more. Say what you want about Rush, but he at least looks good, and was Mr. CMLL. This isn't untreaded ground.
But Komander isn't a dwarf. CMLL has multiple divisions full of actual dwarfs, not to long ago created divisions exclusively for dwarfs, the micros. Let's just be fair here.

That's kind of what I've been thinking. This whole thing with "The Elite" vs the BCC feels like a fake TV version of what represents the divide between "The Elite" camp and the Punk/FTR camp. Is it possible that's part of why this is happening, to have a "good" excuse for why they, the Elite, can't or shouldn't work with Punk & FTR?

Yeah, I'd have probably been more effective if Jericho put Baker in the walls or tamer, then the Saraya group just came out to make sure Baker saw them laughing at her while he did it, maybe took sometime to mock Adam Cole, maybe helped the other heels beat up with faces/security/referees trying to stop Jericho/free Cole. Baker would have had a week/fortnight/month off of television or wearing a back brace not wrestling. Jericho could continue to mock Cole about not being able to stop him from hurting his girlfriend.
Wait, that all happened before, with Adam Cole as the heel, MIchael Elgin as the baby face, MsChif as the victim, Mike Bennett and Matt Taven as the assisting heels, Maria Kanellis as the obnoxious woman rubbing salt in the wound. Still blows my mind Cole let this get screwed up! He's done it already, he should be getting better!

There are not too many factions... the problem is there is a lack of justification for the factions, and a lack of purpose in why they exist. Factions are good for wrestling, because they allow for built-in angle progression... but for some reason in the modern mentality people seem to think that if there is two factions feuding, everybody has to fight everybody every time and it devalues everything.
Jericho Appreciation Society: Jericho, Sammy, Tay Melo, Anna Ja, Garcia, Hager, Angelo Parker, Matt Menard
Blackpool Combat Club: Moxley, Claudio, Bryan, Wheeler Yuta
The Firm: Stokeley as manager, Ethan Page, Lee Moriarty, Big Bill, probably the Gunns. I don't really know if they are still part of the Firm or not. The shows don't give it really away. If I remember correctly after the Gunns won the tag titles they attacked some other guys with the help of Ethan Page.
The Elite: Young Bucks, Omega, Brandon Cutler, Nakazawa as whatever his role is, Don Callis as manager, probably Takeshita soon; Hangman maybe, maybe not, this storyline is going on and he may end up with the Elite again or not
Dark Order: Stu Grayson, John Silver, Reynolds, Evil Uno; maybe Hangman may join them at some point if he doesn't end up with the Elite again
Then there is the group of Rush, Preston Vance (10) and one of Rush's brother (a masked guy, have forgotten his name) and their manager/assistant.
Then there is the group around Mark Sterling, the Varisity Athletes/Trustbusters. Sterling as manager/mouthpiece, Tony Nese, Josh Woods, Ari Daivari, probably Slim J, probably the buttler of the Trustbusters.
Then you have the Embassy from ROH with Prince Nana, Brian Cage and the two other guys as tag team. They are now starting to align with Swerve who theoretically has his own group (Mongul something) with two other guys, the Brock Lesnar lookalike and the guy with no name but lots of tattoos. Ok, both have been seen on television for some time. But they might be still around and around Swerve.
They have no faction name but you another group with Danhausen, Trent Beretta, Chuck Taylor and Orange Cassidy.
Theoretically they are building another group at the moment: the Hardy Boys, Private Party (one of them is off tv bc injury) and Hook. That's 5 guys hanging around each other.
Oh, and there is a new Bullet Club with White and Juice. Yeah, it's just two people right now. But it might become a bigger group soon.
Ok, one might easily argue that some of these groups are "no real factions". At least there are a lot of different groups. And that's the issue: the roster is too big. Way too big. And bc of this big roster you run into the issue you are speaking about: the factions/groups often have no real direction. A lack of justification and a lack of purpose.
Until the BCC started running wild and attacking everyone and going heel it never felt like a group/faction. It was Bryn doing his own thing, Moxley doing his thing and Yuta and Wheeler hanging around together. Then Claudio and Yuta started hanging around Moxley and now Bryan is back with them. There was absolutely no interaction between Bryan on one side and the rest on the other side.

So AEW tried to be AEW then they tried to become Impact wrestling now they've become the ultimate marks and are trying to be the WWE rather than the WWF attitude era. I've got to say TK needs knowledgable people to steer him in a direction that provides the viewer with great wrestling content rather than matches where "his" toys are trying to kill themselves for a pay cheaque.
They did try to be the Attitude Era but it didn't work because the Attitude Era is passe.
Claudio is a complete goof to be mixed up in all that combat club crap, he doesn't stand out at all. Juice Robinson looks like a character off the original Planet of The Apes movie. The match JJ had with Dax on April 26 was pretty good I enjoyed watching two great wrestlers battle it out. Made me think of Dusty, Rick, Hulk, The Rock when JJ did the little strut to mock Dax. Adam Cole looks embarrassing, he acts/sounds pathetic...complete waste of TV time and paycheck.
