Someone give this man a medal. My type cover stopped working back in February and I had to go to the Microsoft store for a replacement. They gave it to me for free but it was still a hassle. Today, after about 8 months with the new type cover, this one stopped working as well. I was so stressed about getting a replacement because with covid I am sure that would be even more of a hassle. But I found this video and the first step worked perfectly. Thank you so much for saving me all the effort and time I already had to spend once on this issue. Microsoft should really do something about this though.
@@bigtshotmusic I didn't, but also I live in nyc and went to the 5th ave location in Manhattan and they were so swamped, I think they just wanted to get me appeased and out of the store as quick as possible. So I can't say for sure if they'd give it for free in a more relaxed/suburban environment
OMG!! My keyboard has been down for a while now and I purchased a new one today for more $$ than I wanted to. I tried the new keyboard in the store, and it did not work, so I immediately returned it. Saddened without a functional keyboard, I tried YT and there you are with two fixes. Tried option one, it did not work. Almost losing hope, but alas, the simplicity of option two worked like a charm. The time spent traveling, purchasing, worrying, and searching, all vanquished in seconds, with an alcohol-soaked, cotton swab. You've done a service today. Thank you!!
Thank you so much! I was freaking out because it wasn't working during my online class, but the first method worked perfectly for me. I cannot thank you enough!
Bro, I've been Involved with I.T. since the early 90s. Getting into the bios of your own machine used to be so much easier. As u might imagine I've looked this kind of shit up a trillion times. You have no idea how much frustration you helped curtail with this fast and easy trip. Keep doing it. Sure, theres are a million of these things up. But so few do it right. A medal is definitely in order. Option 1 worked, but Option 2 forced me to look at my dirty connections that I have neglected cleaning over the years. I have the first generation Surface and still love it, so I was frustrated when this happened. Thanks WorldofTech!
You just made my day 🙂, I thought this was it for my old loved surface pro 4. But your super cool and easy fix (version 1) saved my old comupter from being replaced "already". Now give it a 2nd life. Thank you so much. Cheers Daniel from Switzerland
This video may be 4 years old but it saved me today! Solution 2 was the trick. So crazy because I haven't even disconnected the keyboard in months so I never thought it would be dirty. Thank you for saving the day.
First method worked for me! As opposed to what you said, the cursor didnt show so I just touched "Exit", but when my lock screen popped up, the cursor was back!! Thank you so much!
Thanks man! I had tried everything but didn't know about the boot to Bios screen...I usually let go of the two buttons to just do a hard reboot. That first tip was the trick to get mine back!
I was freaking out when I couldn’t type anything. The deadline of assignment was approaching. I tried your two tips and it worked for option 2. Thank you.
thank you so much for your simple productive solution! super cool! please keep them coming!! :) 5 stars for you! My keyboard was unresponsive and I got it up and running in a minute with your super instructions! you do deserve a medal!

I spent over an hour with a microsoft IT support tech who accessed my laptop remotely and ended up resetting my PC & making me loose all my installed software and nothing they did worked so they told me to buy a new keyboard which they said would hopefully fix my problem. The 1st option you showed fixed my keyboard problem, thank you again you’re a lifesaver!!!! 🙏
THANK YOU!!! the bios worked! After trying everything, I thought the keyboard just died. I bought a new keyboard and to my surprise, it didn't work either!! I found this video and after doing the BIOS reset, both the new and old keyboard started working!

Great! Option 2 worked like a charm on my Surface Pro 7 with damaged screen glass. I thought it was because of the damaged glass in the left corner. It a amazing old days fix :-) I used hand sanitizer from covid time.
Hello, I'm from Germany and have a problem with my Surface. It doesn't connect to the internet even though I have WiFi. As in your video at 0:16, the screen appears and when I enter the WLAN with password at the bottom right and press connect, the message comes up: you have no internet. There should be a keyboard shortcut that I can use to get to Firefox and Google on the Internet. Can you perhaps help? Greetings from Germany Michael
@@sunnyj209 nope. At this point I just use the touchscreen keys, but you can try pressing the screen down into the keyboard connection port. It also sometimes works if I have it at an angle like when I'm laying down.
