Good evening! New subscriber here :) I found you when I was looking for summer fun. We are a fairly new (2 years) homeschool family and I can use so much of what you post here!
Sorry I didn't get to watch sooner. My 4 year old decided he wanted to watch you before I knew you posted this but we did do some transferring and he loves to fold. He plays sock ball. He makes a pair of socks and throws them in a basket like a game! With dish rags he lays them out and starts with "square, then rectangle, then square " (what he says as he's doing it) so incorporating shapes while finding might help other mamas. Love your videos. Apparently so does my son! ❤
Hey hey Christina, I love all these suggestions. Montessori is so practical, hands-on, and interactive. Once in a while, the 99 cent only store has the mini brooms, but my hubby cut down some of the brooms and recapped them with the same cap they came with. Just a suggestion. Thanks foar another great video! Much love to you.
Great ideas and good point about the mopping lol. Not sure if they still carry pompoms, but a favorite activity when my kids were toddlers was getting a basket with holes, flipping it over, and popping the pompoms through the holes.
I don't believe the school I'm going to be working at is a Montessori school, but I think it would be fun to get some socks, washcloths, an inexpensive muslin blanket, etc. and add a "laundry" element to the dramatic play center. I think even starting off with washcloths and socks (which a 3 year old can easily fold/sort) would be a nice touch.
I just saw metal chopper/ scrapers at my dollar tree and didn't even think to get one for my son. I have seen that they are really good for slicing bananas and soft foods!
A mom in one of my mom groups just trimmed down the handles on the mop and broom to make it kid sized. They had a toy broom set a couple of months ago but ours broke.
I love this video. It's exactly what I've been looking for. Thank you! I always thought the Montessori teachings would be expensive to implement into our everyday lives but these are all so handy and dare I say, cheap! One thing I used was the baskets with polka dot holes as a sewing activity and the holes were big enough for pom poms to go through too, my daughter loved it. Quick question... my daughter just turned 2 and she is having a hard time even drying her hands. At what age did you introduce these life skills? I've noticed cleaning dishes and the flower arranging seemed too difficult to my 2 yo.
Great idea with the pom poms! I love how creative it is. The skills depends on what the child can do or not. I used to try a skill and if the child has interest, continue it... and if not, put it away for a few months later. You certainly don't want to make a child do a skill when they aren't ready, so it's really important for them to be your guide at that age.
The mops and brooms are easy to cut down with a saw to make the child size. I did it with them and glued handle cover on
I use the cabinet shelves with cloths pins and little pretend felt clothes that I cut out. My son hangs them to dry. Great ideas Cristina!
Yes! That one is SO CUTE! Love it!!

I'm really addicted to Montessori or Montessori inspired activities. Great tip on the brooms!! I love that. I think I've seen some at Daiso too.
Great ideas and good point about the mopping lol.

Yay! I am super excited to get new ideas for hands on learning! I try to take advantage of all of the great things you can find at the dollar store!
Awesome, love hearing that. The Dollar Stores is such a great resource too.

Yes, those are fab! Great idea and a really simple one to start with.
Stuff we do with the littles every day and don't even realize how important it is.
That's great!
Plastic measuring cups are a good size for pouring
Love this video! 💞 lots of great ideas and very affordable. Can you please make more Montessori videos like this. 😊
I'll try! I do have a montessori playlist of videos too.
Great materials for kids activities 👍👍
Yay!

PERFECT! Love it!
Dish shelf for weaving? Genius!
Isn't that fun?? Perfect for beginners.
Those brooms can be cut down very easily. Just pull the rubber top and replace it in the shorten broom. We love our and it's going on 2 years now.
What a great suggestion! Thank you!
Thanks, great ideas!
Thank you so much!
