This is the scene from "A Star is Born" and "Ester's" first public performance to a large crowd. It's a great version of the movie and no one could of pulled it off like Babs.
Incomparable! True legend alone in her throne. I don’t care those singers who can whistle or squeals whatever. Streisand is alone in her game and she’s unbeatable. I’ve seen her live in concert twice , and all I can say, phenomenal and a true performer. The best! ❤
Barbra was the Crossover Queen in the 1970s. After a decade of huge success recording standards and show-tunes, in 1971 she released a pop-rock album and single ("Stoney End") to great success. She would spend the rest of that decade recording music from rock, pop, disco, classical, gospel, R&B, etc. When she released a new album you didn't know exactly what genre of music it might include until you heard it.
To set the scene here: To the best of my memory, Kris Kristofferson's character, who was a mega rock star, brought her with him to his concert. He first met her in a dinky little club where her talent wasn't getting noticed. They began a relationship and that's when he took her to his concert. Because he wanted her talent to get noticed, he brought her up to sing. She was mortified that she was put on the spot. The audience was disappointed because they came to see him. That explains tentative start. When she began to internalize the lyrics she was singing, she found courage and strength, which is where she switches to singing with authority. It was obvious that he'd planned the whole thing. The musicians had the music for the song, and to her amazement, he'd even arranged for her backup singers to be there. That's why she looks back in surprise when they come in with the echo lyric "little sister." 4:14 She rose to the occasion and knocked it out of the park, as he knew she would. I love this movie. I've seen 3 versions of "A Star is Born," (not the one with Lady Gaga) and I'm torn between the Judy Garland/James Mason version and the Barbra Streisand/Kris Kristofferson version. I do love the music from this one. I have this album and have belted out all these songs for years. One of my faves to sing along with is "Queen Bee."
For me, this version of "A Star Is Born" is the best; that was a live concert she did which was filmed to be used in the movie. Barbra sings everything in the present and doesn't believe in voice overs.
I heard this song watching the movie when it was first released and it was perfection, because I was raised in a time when women were really finding their voices; as was I.
Great movie!!!!!! I was a child when I saw this as my big sister was babysitting me and took me to the movies 🍿. I didn’t fully understand it but loved it. I think it was at the drive in. The best version of “A Star is Born”.
Summer 1977: Bought this soundtrack and played the sh## out of it!!! ALL the songs on this album are phenomenal and hold up well. I have the CD in my car right now and play it about once a week!!
I adore Barbra Streisand, sensational singer, especially in the 80's!! Believe it or not, I've never heard of 'The Woman In the Moon' & I was in my 20's in the 80's - weird?? xx
Heard this for the first time when I watched “A Star is Born”. I always find this to be an uplifting, encouragement song, and when I need a little kick up my rear this is my go to song. My favourite from this movie is “Evergreen”. Fantastic pick and as always very entertaining reaction Ty 😁
It was recorded live. First motion picture to use DOLBY Sound. Streisand is a total phenom. The clarity, pitch, lung power, and of course her brilliance in delivering a lyric. Very few are in the same league with Streisand, but she has stretched her artistic muscles more than all of them.
It was a legit concert that was filmed live for the movie. Barbra can sing ANYTHING. There's a lot of great songs she does. "My man", "hurry it's lovely up here", "on a clear day", "I want everything, "lost inside of you" are all my favorites that all showcase her dazzling vocals.
I can't remember what or where I was when i heard this song. Other than watching the movie when it came out on tv. So late 70s early 80s. I have been a fan of Ms. Barbara's since middle school 1976. There is such a big rabbit hole to go down with her music. "Main Event" again from another movie and "A Piece of Sky" from the movie Yentl are some of my favorites. And I believe they show her range best.
Hey there Ty🙋🏼♀️ My Daddy used to pick & sing. For some reason he couldn't stand to hear Babara Streisand sing .. I never understood that. I like most of her songs & of course her powerful voice too! Great song here & awesome reactions Ty. Blessing to all .. b safe & well🙏🏼🤘🏼💓
1976 version of the movie A Star Is Born, my favorite version followed by Judy Garland's version (suggestion song from Judy Garland's version "The Man That Got Away"). The performances in these movies were essentially concerts. Though it was for the movie there were many extras and just random people watching these performances as the movie was being shot. "With One More Look At You/Watch Closely Now" is my favorite performance from this movie, it's also the finale. Fun Fact: Everything that Barbra Streisand wears in this movie are her own personal clothes. Just thought I'd add that in here. 😎👍
We are oldtimers...yeah me and Cara are oddballs, or as mom would say we are unique, another word for strange...lol..thats why we are the The Twins..lol
One thing....the caption was wrong: "They believed that 'strange' was a word for 'strong'"...nope. Not 'strong', the actual word is 'wrong'. Just listen.
Barbra is just a phenomenal talent - actor, singer, director, producer, writer…movies, Broadway 🎭 This song is from “Star is Born” with Barbara Streisand & Kris Kristofferson. Listen to her son “My Man” from Funny Girl movie. ❤❤
Ty, I just spent three hours going through your massive and impressive library of videos and reactions, paying particular attention to my faves like Streisand, Diamond (sadly only one) and several others. I'd LOVE if you would do a reaction to this video below of a duet between the two of them. Back story, it was a smash hit for both stars individually as singles when a DJ in Kentucky I believe, who was having relationship problems at the time, made a demo splicing the two of them together because he noticed they were basically in the same key. After he aired it, calls into the radio station went through the roof, and the demo went, what we would call it these days, viral. So much so that the demand for Barbra and Neil to actually do a studio recording together was huge, so they did. Of course it shot to #1 on the charts. Two years later, to a totally clueless and unsuspecting Grammy audience, Neil and Barbra entered the stage from opposite sides and performed the song live. It was an iconic and memorable moment not only in Grammy history, but in music history. Side note: Neil and Barbra attended the same high school in Brooklyn, and sang together in the choir. Thanks, Ty. th-cam.com/video/G_Q7BcvZ7fU/w-d-xo.html
Yes, it's from a movie, but all the performances were recorded live and shot. Phil Ramone, the sound engineer, had a truck outside recording, in other words, she was not li-sinking. She was at her 30's ... wonderful voice, and for you Youngers, she was the greatest star in the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's .... for me, she still is. keep searching, she has an enormous catalog and wonder albums. You gonna find out wonderful stuff.
I’ve checked out some other reaction channels and click away the moment they start pausing the video in order to comment. On the other hand, I love the way you listen, giving respect to the song and the artist by just letting it play all the way through and then commenting. That is why I’m a new subscriber. By the way, if you haven’t seen A Star Is Born with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson, do yourself a favor and watch it. The best movie ever made.
She can sing anything, opera, pop, she's also a movie director and producer, and she's been an actress and singer for many years. Check out the 1976 remake of A Star Is Born !!!
She got a bad reputation in Hollywood because she's a strong female that knew what she wanted and not only started in but also produced and directed movies. She's amazing! I have always been a Barbra Streisand fan and saw this movie when it first came out in the theaters and several times since and still cry. I loved her in Funny Girl and Hello Dolly and numerous other projects. I actually just watched her getting the role of Frannie Brice in Funny Girl on Broadway. She was a real Vaudeville act and her granddaughter had some say in the casting. It was interesting. Barbra didn't win the Tony....it went to the Hello Dolly actress but she did win the Oscar when they made it into a movie.
I was in highschool when this movie and record came out, i bought the soundtrack and this song reverberated in my mind then for days cuz it's so great 🎶❤️👍👍👍
Kris Kristofferson sure was handsome in this one, didn't remember much about this clip. Barbra is fabulous singing as always - so unique & unforgettable, too. Thanks!
In the movie they were wanting Kris Kristofferson to sing... they didn't want to hear her. I have to say as much as I don't agree with this woman's politics.. can never deny what an AMAZING voice she has.
Believe it or not the audience had to be paid to go to this concert and both stars were huge at this time hmmmm I payed 580 Euro in 2007 to see Barbra in Dublin Ireland....worth every cent ....

People forget the before A Star is Born, Streisand was known as an American Standards singer doing. Rogers and Hammerstein, Cole Porter, Harold Arlen, Gershwin, and although she did go (Easy Listening) rock in 1970 with the Stoney End album, she REALLY pumped it up for A Star is Born. Gaga's version pales in comparison.
FIRE, indeed! Keep up the Streisand up. She's recording with H.E.R. soon. Already recorded with Ariana Grande (unreleased as of yet). Absolutely love your channel. Thanks for this!
Hi renaissance man. FYI you should look into who Barbra Streisand looked up to. there is a video on TH-cam called the Judy Garland show 1963. at the time Barbara was 21 years old. she does a duet. With the legendary Judy Garland. check it out. if you don’t know who Judy Garland is. look at the movie the Wizard of Oz.
MRM listen to a song by the band called Ronnie Montrose, the song is make it last!. The lead singer of the song is Sammy Hagar when he was young before he hit it big. With Van Halen or anybody else. The lyrics are outstanding and the guitars are just unreal. God bless you and your family! And God bless America🇺🇸🤙😎
Hello, how are you doing? This song gives me inspiration and energy to do something. Don't leave it too long for another barbra streisand song reaction. 'Aware', 'Puttin it together' and 'Above the Law'.
Actually the only Babs movie I have not seen. Saw the original. As much as I like her do not like the story. This is the first time I heard it. Her voice is like butta.

That's live. No auto tune. That was a legit concert setting. She was extraordinary.
Greatest female voice ever.
Yup!!!
No auto tune. No tricks. Just her...
The best! ❤
Absolutely beautiful voice. I absolutely love this version of a Star is born.✌❤

Shake me, wake me when it's over!
I was 17 in 1976. This is the movie that introduced me to Barbara Streisand!!! Been a fan ever since.
Yes Ty Barbra can sing pretty much anything.
I love Barbara Streisand but, I've never heard this song. Totally LOVED it! And I also have always been drawn to the moon 🌙.

I agree with everything you said. And just like you, my fav versions of "A Star is Born" are the ones with Streisand and Garland. Sheer bliss! 💙
Listened to this album so many times when I was a kid I wore the record out.
Me too😀
Me too!
Same here
Barbra Streisand is simply the best 💝
She actually did this song in front of a live audience for the movie “A star is born”
I know every song from this movie!!! Best female vocalist!
My favorite of the four versions of “A Star Is Born”.
Me too!
Mine too!
Judy Garland, hands down. Barbra is a very close second.
For me, this version of "A Star Is Born" is the best; that was a live concert she did which was filmed to be used in the movie. Barbra sings everything in the present and doesn't believe in voice overs.
Agreed
I’ve seen them all
I heard this song watching the movie when it was first released and it was perfection, because I was raised in a time when women were really finding their voices; as was I.
What a great movie that was! Barbra has an amazing, crazy perfect voice. Like Kris Kristofferson too.
She is the absolute greatest!
Barbra was trained for Broadway and pop. Although she had the vocals for R&B, she did not have the training.
Barbara Striestand is legendary! I remember the song Evergeeen and The Way We Were with Robert Redford .
The G.O.A.T, doesn't matter what she sings she is the greatest and Mariah and so many others idolized Barbra.
Great movie!!!!!! I was a child when I saw this as my big sister was babysitting me and took me to the movies 🍿. I didn’t fully understand it but loved it. I think it was at the drive in. The best version of “A Star is Born”.

Don't forget the original version: th-cam.com/video/mAVEaMMQffA/w-d-xo.html
One of her greatest hits is from the same film..."Evergreen".
So happy you did this one!! I forgot how much I loved this song!! Brings back alot of great memories! Thanks
My respect to you for listening to this iconic singer!
On one of those notes she held I had time to poach a couple of eggs. Great voice

YASSS!!! Barbra has always brought the heat and shut everybody down!!! ❤
The whole album is amazing!!
I'm watching this at 350 views! I'm finally not behind the curve. Renaissance Man is my new favorite TH-camr!!! This guy is on fire!
Barbra is just a phenomenal talent - actor, singer, director, producer, writer…movies, Broadway 🎭
This song is from “Star is Born” with Barbara Streisand & Kris Kristofferson.
Listen to her son “My Man” from Funny Girl movie.
❤❤
Wow my favorite I was 10 yrs old and listened so many times I can sing every word and the grunts lol

I have been a Barbra fan for 45 years now staring with this movie, and all these years later she still amazes.

This is a LIVE track! wikipedia it!
Thanks for sharing. I agree with you. God bless you!
I Believe In Love from the same movie soundtrack.
This version of A Star Is Born was amazing, and still is all these years later.
My hubby hears me sing A Star Is Born by Barbra everyday for 44 yrs and it’s my favorite movie still.
Great movie. One of the greatest soundtracks ever.
My favorite album by this woman...no doubt !!
I’ve checked out some other reaction channels and click away the moment they start pausing the video in order to comment. You have to react to "A piece of sky" from the movie Yentl, Barbra holds a note a the end of the song for what feels like an hour !!!
She got some pipes!!!! This was LIVE for the movie..."A Star is Born". The BEST version!!!!
One of my favorite movies and Barbra Streisand is my all time favorite female singer!
Until Celine hit the scene, Barbara was the most powerful female vocalist. She’s also a great Actress!
Ha, Celine is good, but no one's in Barbra's league!
Until celine hit the scene your kidding right she can't hold a candle to babs.
She can sing anything, opera, pop, she's also a movie director and producer, and she's been an actress and singer for many years. Check out the 1976 remake of A Star Is Born !!!
One of the greatest songs ever written sung by the best singer ever ❤
Hahahaha. EW&F… saw them before they were big. Came on stage to an all white rock audience and just blew the place up!!!!
This is a scene from the movie "A Star Is Born" with Kris Kristofferson from the 70's. I loved movie better than Lady GaGa's from a few years ago🎶🍷
She got a bad reputation in Hollywood because she's a strong female that knew what she wanted and not only started in but also produced and directed movies. She's amazing! I have always been a Barbra Streisand fan and saw this movie when it first came out in the theaters and several times since and still cry. That was Kris Kristofferson in the Audience😁
No memories of this song or the movie. However, I must say Barbra Streisand's voice was superb.
My Un is Quincy J, my cousin is LB from Cameo, my favorite singer since 7th grand and 12 yrs old is Barbra Streisand
Music videos didn't start till 1981 so anything before that is usually TV special or movie
Best female singer EVER!
Loved it, great reaction!
Amo Barbra,dal 1977❤️
This has always been my favorite. Every time is like the first!
love Barbara.
I was in highschool when this movie and record came out, i bought the soundtrack and this song reverberated in my mind then for days cuz it's so great 🎶❤️👍👍👍
Beyonce honored her @ the Kennedy Center Honors.
Enjoyed your brilliant reaction. Thanks & Cheers 👌🏼😄🥂
Lo e it so much. Memories
I still can't listen to "Somewhere" without crying. Phenomenal voice.
My Mom loved her! She passed 2 yrs. ago and when I hear “Songbird” by her tears come to my eyes ❤️
Kris Kristofferson sure was handsome in this one, didn't remember much about this clip. Barbra is fabulous singing as always - so unique & unforgettable, too. Thanks!

Loved the movie and this song!
Believe it or not the audience had to be paid to go to this concert and both stars were huge at this time hmmmm I payed 580 Euro in 2007 to see Barbra in Dublin Ireland....worth every cent ....
The audio soundtrack version does not contain the annoying clapping at the beginning.
Wow… Extraordinary
This a scene from a movie (The 3rd remake of 'Star Is Born"), where her character is being pushed on stage to perfom, so she is apprehensive at first, and they are booing because they came there to see other performers. Recorded Live, BTW.

Hello, how are you doing? This song gives me inspiration and energy to do something. Don't leave it too long for another barbra streisand song reaction. 'Aware', 'Puttin it together' and 'Above the Law'.
Listen to her sing the song, “where you lead, sweet inspiration”! It’s amazing!
If you havnt seen the movie its awesome a must see
Actually the only Babs movie I have not seen. Saw the original. As much as I like her do not like the story.
This is the first time I heard it. Her voice is like butta.
I was 12 when saw this movie at the wonderful drive in, few left in existence
Want to he her sing watch her duets:
Michael Buble
Lionel Ritchie
Babyface
Stevie Wonder
John legend
Barry Gibb of the Beegees
Bryan Adams
Billy Joel
Andrei Bochelli
She has a ton of them. She produced them too.
In her day there really was no other singer that came close to her.
A Star is born there is no other movie it is the best
Another fun reaction to the great Streisand - thanks Ty!
Maybe just fix the spelling of her last name for even more fan views (drop in an R after the T). Not being snarky...just happened to notice. Better search results = more hits.
Keep Truckin' dude. Peace.
The song right after this one is great too!
