    John You Just Missed Something....
And to be straight that would be the "Essence".
Because this song includes some of the lyrics which were written by a Sufi Poet Khwaja Ghulam Fareed.
My father wrote several books on the work related to his Whole Poetic Collection And Stuff.
I wish Ssssssoooommmmeeehhhhhoooowwwwww you would have managed to understand the language and the Message....
    I Bet You A Fortune....
You would have been a changed Man....
    Lots of Love Form Pakistan.
    Great Job Sir!

Please react to "Naina Moray" from Coke Studio Season 10. It also features a guitar solo from the late great Aamir Zaki; his last performance before his sad passing.

Traditional Pakistani music is a sufi music. Now a days with improvisation with different instruments but the best part is it's lyrics.

Hey, great reaction. It was a spiritual song for the love of God, if subtitles were turned on you would've totally felt it. Nevertheless, do react on more of Coke Studio stuff. You'll definitely enjoy the eastern and western fusion 😊

Nice to see someone who appreciates a good music as you said Music transcends borders and languages, Atif Aslam is amongst the best singers of the region. Even thou the quality of production and music recording quality further improved over the years and it produced some excellent songs recently but i still love the old Coke Studio songs specially S01-S06 by original creator Rohail Hayyat more who later left after S06 as these songs richer and mystic in every aspect. Below are some of my favs Sufi/Mystic songs from S01-06 in no particular order and worth listening even if not you do not react:
Aik Alif | Noori & Saieen Zahoor | Season 2
Alif Allah, Jugni | Arif Lohar & Meesha | Season 3
Jal Pari | Atif Aslam | Season 2
    Dastaan-e-ishq | Ali Zafar | Season 2
    Saari Raat | Noori | Season 2
    Ramooz-e-Ishq | Abida Parveen | Season 3
Hor Vi Neevan Ho | Noori | Season 3
    Manzil-e-Sufi | Sanam Marvi | Season 3
    Kamlee | Hadiqa Kiani | Season 5
Yaar Vekho | Sanam Marvi | Season 6

Did you know that Atif Aslam and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan had big careers in Bollywood, as playback singers for Bollywood movies? Because the ongoing conflict between the 2 countries heated up, their careers ended when India ordered a ban on all Pakistani artistes and they all had to leave the country and never work for the Indian industry again. Miss their voices in Bwood songs.

Music is truly transcendental like you said, but would it help when you dim ur lights and light 2 candles next time you listen to this melody with eyes closed, and have the idea it's deeply spiritual yearning to reach out to your Creator. My desires, my pining, my liking, my love, my devotion, my life, my lifestyle, my getup, my happiness, my comfort, my prayer, my call for prayer, my mosque, my minaret, my direction, my every breath... it's but You!

This is one of the experimental compositions. A solo vocalist styling qawwali, minus the clapping and group chants. That's the beauty of PAKISTANI music, and that's how it has bifurcated from the Indian churns. Traditional background transcending limitations.

  • @Stimmevon70

It starts as a complaint to the Lord, and ends that way. However, in the middle of the song, the singer uses a female symbolism, wherein God becomes his beloved, pride, joy, refuge, etc.

Ahhhh I feel for you. If only you could understand the lyrics. They are more powerful than music you just heard. Your joy would have been more than doubled for your. And if you had understood the philosophy of Sufism then double it again.

Pakistani music way too rich and complex. You can’t say anything is typical. This is mixture of Sindhi , Punjabi, folk plus the Sufi poetry and style with western influence. Go figure what it is. It is just pure a Pakistani bliss. Nowhere else you can find this. It is 1000 years of Muslim history in this land called Pakistan all come together in one song.
