      I bought a city ebike that was declared not working/turning on... sparta ion for 50€ hehe.. took off the rear wheel with a hub motor and battery that was under the seat. Turns out the speed controller was dead, bought another one from China for 10€, mounted the wheel on my MTB and modifyed the battery to cut the length of it so it can fit in a triangle bag.. happy days lads!!! :)))

    Chris Smith ,i notice when you manual you push your weight down and back but when you drop off you just push your weight back e.g. you have a rear weight distribution but you don't create a torque reaction to make the front rise up like you would when manualing. Its what i do too, and well worth pointing out to learners so they don't over rotate backwards and end up on their bums.

    Yes on the second hand bike. I bought mine on a bike shop for 50% off. Retails for close to 6000 dollars, got it for 2800. The bike comes with Life time tune ups from the shop. The only "downside" were the rear tire was worn. Later i noticed slip in the last two gears(10-11) and took it to the shop.Had the chain ring, Cassette and chain replaced free and its a perfect bike.

    Super rad!! Got mine "ex demo" from Tav's in Ryde I.W. Still the most expensive bike I've ever bought but I don't care. It's the best bike I've ever bought! Merida e120 800.

    I bought my LEVO 2nd hand with 300km on for a very good price and upgraded bar & stem etc as I rode more. When it started to wear out the bottom bracket after lots of hard riding in varying conditions my local bike shop took a chance and opened up the motor and replaced the BB bearings with better sealed bearing,did another odd 2000km over the course of about 7months and the cranks started to slip. Took motor apart again and found the main directional bearing has started to fail. Ordered a new bearing and we will be putting back together soon again. Love my ebike and think people should not scared to buy 2nd hand. There will always be someone willing to chance it on repairs when the time comes!

    Just bought my first ebike for trails in the Cambridgeshire region (it’s flat in the fens ) a Cube Reaction Hybrid Pro 2020 version , 500 watt battery , Bosch 4th Gen motor , second hand mint for £1100 ............. couldn’t believe my luck, a few blemishes nothing to worry about. And the seller advised me you can get the latest update, cost at Rutland cycles £20............ my tip like the guys on the channel, research hard and your find bargains out there............. next stop for a budding 52 year old obsessed biker, full suspension! 🤙🏾

    Hey guys, you can get access to the surrounding areas of the CWM Colliery but there is a fence stopping access to the old site, plenty for you guys to throw the bike about on though and some cracking local trails within a couple of miles of it.

    Hi guys. I see the specialized bikes featured pretty much everywhere and I agree that they are nice. I decided for the Spectral:on but not because of the price but because of geometry and specs. I think, they hit the sweet spot between the Levo and the Kenevo and that it is all round at least on par with them. However, there is nothing much to hear about that bike. How come? Do they just spend less money on the advertisement or do you guys disagree with it being at least at eye level? Thanks, Mike.

    On Shimano Steps systems and Specialized bikes you can check the total mileage, battery health and number of charge cycles in the app (I don’t have experience with others, but I know with Bosch you have to go to a dealer if you want to this info). The rest of the components are the same as in regular bikes so if you know what you are doing then buying a used ebike can be just as ‘safe’ as buying a used regular bike.

    I’d like to see emtb racing with steep tech but I’d really like to see it with mellower climbs with jumps and pump sections throughout with multiple lines and passing. WC xc racing has been quite entertaining the last few years as the courses are more technical. EMTB could take it to the next level with speed and jumps on the up. Multiple line choices like the good wc dh tracks

    Just purchased a used Ebike myself! (2018 Haibike AllMtn). It needed a few small things, like a deep cleaning, replacement battery in the display, cleaning out a detent on the rear Fox shock lever. Overall, incredibly happy with the bike so far. Bought it for about 50% off of its retail value when it was new last year, an came with only 204 miles on it. Good finds are out there!
    **My top advice items:
    1. Research the bike extensively before hand, so upon inspection you know everything about it.
    2. Talk on the phone to the seller before hand. You can get a really good vibe from someone by talking to them versus just emailing or texting.
    3. Obtain a photo of the serial number, and check it against databases to make sure it’s not stolen.
    4. Be smart where you meet (Daytime, bring a friend for safety & a 2nd set of eyes to look over the bike, public place if possible).
    5. Bring tools with you.
    6. Be thorough checking the bike over. Bring a list of items to check with you and go through them. Test ride the bike too, obviously.

    Why would someone sell an e-bike? This is always the question with used vehicles of any sort. Why are they getting rid of it? Is it a lemon, did they break it, is that grinding noise a deal breaker?
    I had a 1997 Honda Odyssey and once mentioned to a mechanic, They're only $1300 on Bluebook, I can just get another one. He snorted and said, Try finding one. Plenty of Fiestas few Odysseys, guess which ones are more reliable? I'm sure there are e-bikes that no one would ever sell and some that people wanted to get rid of after the first day. Guess which ones there will be more of in the used listings?
    I prefer buying used, first I save a lot of money, second, no matter what it's going to get scratched so pristine condition? don't care. (What I also found interesting is the MTB shows on the Otterfest: new pedal colors! whoopee? EMBN Otterfest: actual new stuff. So a 2019 e-bike: maybe. 2019 mtb? From what I've seen a nicely scuffed up 2012 would be just fine.

    Oh Chris. Did your school geography report say "does well to find his way home"? Tweedlove is not in England. There's a big clue. It's in the SCOTTISH Borders. Which is also in Europe.

    Except for the Motor, Battery .and electrics, everything else is the same as buying any Mountain Bike if it's been used for what it was designed for. That bit about how many charges the Battery has had, well, I charge mine after every ride and mostly only get down to 70% left in the Battery. keeping the Battery fully charged is what Rockymountain recommends is better for the Battery life, as below 80% the charger is on a fast charge which is more damaging to its life than the above 80% slow charge. So whats counted, total time charging or how many times? In fact, I'm going to have a look right now. :))) Just checked, only has the odometer reading, charge rate , and other stuff, no times charged

    • @stuartdummkoph128
      @stuartdummkoph128 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Mickey T, if you charge it from 30% one day and 70% the next day that is all counted as one charging cycle

    Should I be worried about some paint that has worn off an aluminum frame?

    • @embn
      @embn  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends where it is worn Deborah. If it's inside the chain or seat stay where the rear tyre runs or heel rub on the outside of the chainstay, then potentially. If wears down so far so that you can feel an indentation into the metal with your finger then it is something to worry about yes. If it's just chips and a bit of paint missing from here and there, well unfortunately wear and tear does happen sometimes!

  • @anttiharing

    Second hand ebikes or non ebikes are fantastic value, why buy new when you can usually get a great second hand bike at half the cost of new. Although in Covid times second hand bikes have increased in value.
