    This was the camera that my dad used to photograph the vacations of our youth. I have it now and am looking forward to bringing it back to life! Thanks for the information!

      Same exact situation. I nw inherited my fathers camera. I just ran a roll through it and will be developing it asap. I hope yours also works well as it is a nice camera. Not too fancy but nice enough to take great pics. The zoom lens it also had did seize up for some reason. It will snap pics but I can't zoom out any more.

    The Minolta Maxxum 5000 was my first AF SLR 35mm camera. I purchased it way back in 1986-87 at Service Merchandise, it came as a kit with a 50mm f1.7 lens, strap, bag and manual. It took great photos. Photo processing was cheap back in the day, ran a lot of rolls of film through this camera. Thinking about picking one up as I sold that old camera years ago. Looking for one cheap, brings back those old memories.

    My mom pulled this camera out from deep within a closet and asked if I could clean up the battery compartment since the batteries were left in for who knows how long. I opened it up a bit to clean it and repair some chipping plastic on the battery compartment, and I marveled at how much was going on under the covers. Long story short, put it back together and cleaned it up, powered right up, and is working like a dream. Just bought some film and looking forward to trying it out. The camera was my dad’s, and when I popped in front of him and took his picture, he was both shocked and happy to say the least. Last he saw the camera was probably over 20 years ago. They really don’t build them now like they used to!

    I figured it out, had to take the film out, I've not shot film for over 30 years, been a while since I used a film camera, but been wanting to start again, will still shoot with my digital camera too, but there is something special about shooting film, got a Leica M3 and cant wait to figure it out!

    Found one in a Goodwill yesterday with hundreds of Cokin filters and 2 lenses. Just bought a plustek 7200 film digitizer yesterday too so am excited to try shooting some. Shoot now with a Sony A77II.

    Hello how are you? thanks for this review. I notice some of your bw shots have what looks like a sprocket light leak, I want to tell you how to fix it as I had a similar problem and even posted it on a fb group. I found that when i develop one reel in the tank, when im inverting, the reel slides up the spindle in the tank and when i place the canister back down the top of the film is now above the developer. I fixed this by putting an empty reel on top of the developing reel to keep it from rising up. I also add a bit more developer for extra measure. hope that helps.

    Just found one at goodwill.. $10. The old triple A batteries in it were a little corroded. Put new ones in I got nothing. Hoping I can scrape the corrosion off and get it to work. We’ll see! I already have the maxxum 7000 so I have a few lenses already. Would be cool to have one loaded with color one with B&W

    i just bought one of these and will arrive next week. can you double exposures on this one?

    • @PrimeStudios
      @PrimeStudios  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really. The camera does not have a double exposure function. The only way you can do double exposures on this camera is to first shoot photos on your roll of film, rewind it, then load it back into the camera like a new roll and take a second set of photos on the same film. The frames should hypothetically line up, or at least be close.

    Hello! how sturdy and heavy would you say this camera is? is it metal and plastic or just plastic? is it worth 30$?

    • @PrimeStudios
      @PrimeStudios  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's mostly plastic, but it feels pretty sturdy, not too heavy. If the camera is functional I definitely think it's worth $30.

    Just got one of these! Any recommendations of what type of film to start with? I'm a film camera newbie and am a bit overwhelmed with options.

    • @PrimeStudios
      @PrimeStudios  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      For Color film I'd recommend these:
      amzn.to/2PE19Od
      amzn.to/3kgLiTN
      For Black and White film I'd recommend these:
      amzn.to/31pTKHL
      amzn.to/2DkVmdy
      They are all 400 ISO so should be good to use in most lighting situations and are some of the most commonly used films by students.

    I found an old one of these in my attic. Mine uses 6V lithium batteries--is it the same model?

    • @PrimeStudios
      @PrimeStudios  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The model name/number should be shown somewhere on the front of the camera.

    I recently was given this camera for free. Just curious, does it shoot colour or are all the photos black and white like they were in this video? I'm new to film photography in general and know pretty much nothing.

    • @PrimeStudios
      @PrimeStudios  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can use any 35mm film including, color, black and white, or even infrared. You just need to buy whatever film you are interested in. Here is a link to my film for beginners video: th-cam.com/video/1hDyv7qhC_4/w-d-xo.html
