Before i even watch the video i have to say i haaaate how they butchered Paige's character in this and that THIS IS HOW WE LEAVE HER CHARACTER, like she grew so much throughout the series just for them to do this to her 😭😭😭
everybody from the senior class but craig and jay….of all people…got a pretty awful ending like marco was a lap dog, paige was her 14 yr old self, and ellie walked into the ocean
I've noticed both Degrassi movies had a pattern of ruining characters that were once loved or just giving them a shitty send-off (IE, Ellie bc she went back to Craig, Jane bc she had cheated on Spinner (still convinced the writers had it out for her because it seemed VERY OOC for her to cheat with Declan of all people) and the majority of the movie they have her ready to throw away Stanford for a guy, Paige treating Marco and everyone else like crap 90% of the film, and then there's the straw that broke the camel's back..... Spinner marrying Emma)
Ellie is a daddy’s girl, in the beginning of the show you see her dad leave for deployment and she is devastated. Ellie loves her dad, he left her with her alcoholic mother that I believe resented her father for going in to the military. Food for thought.
the ending with Ellie and her dad always made me cry. it brings it full circle for her. her dad left in the first episode where she was the main focus, and he comes back in the last episode she is in. she's gone thru the whole series not having a real parent, so its her best happy ending to finally see her reunite with her dad. if they cut out all the craig stuff, this wouldve been a good ending for her character.
And rhe next 2 episodes are Nina’s last episodes before she goes off to date a vampire then become one in Vampire Diaries. But unfortunately she’s credited as a guest star. And her last series regular credit is the season 8 finale (or the episode before where her mom mentions she wanted to be a vampire slayer)
The ten second scene we got of Ellie and her dad gave me the impression that they had a good relationship and it was when hed leave that her mom would get really bad. Cause her mom is nice and smiling until they wave him off.
If you ever do a 'Degrassi actors, where are they now' you will be SHOOKETH. Almost all the guys look so rough and of course all the girls look as gorgeous as always
So this movie was actually supposed to come at the end of S4 or S5 but Kevin Smith’s schedule got way too busy so they weren’t able to do anything until now, so they thought that it would be a good way to send off the older characters. Also, around season 9 is when ratings started to drop, especially in Canada, so one of the Canadian producers created an idea of rebooting Degrassi with the new cast (Clare, Alli, KC, etc) moving to LA and trying to make it in Hollywood based off this movie 🤢. Luckily, they decided to opt against that, but it was what led to them eventually making The LA Complex. - We did see Ellie’s dad once when he went to the army, it was the same episode that her mom started drinking. - Paige sang a little in PMS, especially with that song about Dean.
Interesting. considering season 4 was when Kevin and Jay started the movie. Season 5 being senior year for the older cast. Maybe it was too soon for a movie.

During the drop in ratings, there were the talks on the reboot or full cancellation, but the US producers were the ones to come up with the 40-episode soap opera format that they decided to do in S10.
I love this movie and hate it at the same time. I’ll always enjoy the 2000s I think this movie changed degrassi from a down to earth humble show to a bigger budget more of a soap opera type show. Still love the later seasons
I haven't seen it in middle school years, probably 7th or 8th. But, I noticed when Manny and Paige meet again, Paige gets her leg injured 😶 Life is a Show is definitely a great song 🎵🎶 Can't wait for School's Out, and Season 9 of Degrassi. 😊
To be honest, I was never too fond of with the Degrassi movies and Goes Hollywood is in the bottom. The things I didn’t like were character developments being ruined and making characters doing worst things that made me dislike them of moments. Like Paige regressing to her stuck-up self like in season 1. Ellie still being in love with Craig is still cringe 🙄 and Craig still being a cheater. Plus my heart breaks for Marco after Paige slaps him for him telling her off and thus ending their friendship. Although I do like some of the music and side-plot with Manny getting a movie role and rekindling her romance with Jay. Yes I love Manny x Jay getting together. 🤷🏻♂️

I was like your at DGH already! Cause I keep thinking about the other movie but it comes after. So fun hearing the persepctive of somoen who watched the show and this movie when it was airing. Loved seeing the "theme song" into the movie which I haven't seen before I think Character thoughts: Marco: Is such a good friend in this movie(and in general) I don't think he was being judgy. I think he was just trying to help his friends but I can see how it can come off that way! Also, I missed the Craig-Marco friendship and I wished they made up! Them dating would have been intresting indeed if they stuck with the Craig being bi! Ellie: I really wish that girl got therpay (and not just her meetings she goes to about her struggles) because she's been through so much. With her mom,her dad, her own struggles. In this movie I felt like she was running away from the pain by trying to focus Craig. Speaking of relationships, they should have focsued less on that and more on the struggles. It's nice seeing this kinda storyline in a fun movie like this (even if we should have gotten more backstory in the show) She really had a problem.pattern with going after unavavible men I don't know why! A movie of learning to believe in herself and in her dreams again! Crazy how she was debating Smithdale and the other show just to go act in the movie. loved that Emma was a good friend to her(I think, from what I hear, as everyone says it's always the opposite) It's a smart bussniess decision and crazy how everyone knows how to play the instruments in this movie! Craig: A serial cheater really. It would have been nice if we got to see him with his black girlfriend. But, I'm glad he's doing well and is successful in his career. What I love about a canadian movie is seeing all the other canadian cameos (some before they made it big) I feel like I missed some things in this movie but oh well. It would be so cool if you did a Life With Derek Rewatch. I did one recently and I watched the movie as well but not the latest which came out recently called Life With Luca (don't know if you know about it) So many funny parts in this movie! Can't wait for season 9( I was like is he finally done with this era but no cause there's still season 9 haha, not saying I don't love this era, I was like can having a channel on Degrassi be sustanible and I was like yeah because he was has so many other epsiodes to watch which might take syears but I feel thesse seasons has just flew by) and all the deep dives. So I watch everything on 2x speed (woo, go ADD brain) and sometimes I feel like I shouldn't. At Manny's audition, I SWEAR you said you forgot Derek was in this movie and the Life With Derek (another I believe Canadian show) theme song unlocked in my brain and started playing, so I had to rewind the video😂😂 obviously I heard you correctly the 2nd watch through but I'm still giggling at that.
Starting off with my likes. I like the opening with Paige seemingly in a life of luxury. Marco and Ellie coming to visit. I wish we explored this more. I like Paige and Manny interactions all the scenes with Manny. Dislikes. Ellie and Craig I get it them being friends, but the back and forth will they or won't they gets old. The ending between Paige marco and ellie. What happend after. overall I enjoyed the movie.
I see that you're almost finished with the Degrassi the Next Generation half of the show because later on for the other half it just becomes Degrassi for Seasons 10 through 14 because of all the other different people and characters for that half of the show I don't know if you seen the second half of the series but it's still pretty cool as well but I do love the earlier half of Degrassi the Next Generation when the original cast are still on the show as well
