From Afar is epic, Victory Songs is warrior, Iron is violent, and about this one, it's the most folk, it's full of choirs and beautiful melodic parts, that's why it's one of my favourite
It's a masterpiece. I understand why a lot of people don't like it. It's not for everyone, the beauty of it is hidden and not everyone can understand it. I think you know what I mean. If you just sit back and listen, it will take you far away. It's beautiful.
The whole song lead to that point at 14:59. Everything before that is only a build-up to that moment. All the chaos, all the weird bits, all the rage and softness of the previous parts of the song, etc. they all come crashing together, and from this point forward, until the end of the song, everything makes sense. You find a sort of peace of mind. 14:59 to 17:01 is the reward for the previous 15 minutes. One of the greatest moments in music history as far as I'm concerned.

Some people don't seem to understand that this, is true folk metal, of a rare quality. They're hitting their stride, yeah, it's less and less fast as it was before, but it's so damn powerful and deep. Great music, all of you, who whine it's not the same anymore, at least try to listen to the album from the 1st to the last song, and if you still don't like it, I don't know, listen to a former album, simply. I love this song..what got to me from the first listen was that street medieval market feel and that "WUNDERBAR" at the end of it..wish I could understand and hear more of it..
My favourite ensiferum track from the new album, along with Unsung Heroes, Star Queen and Pohjola :D Note to anyone bashing this track and album in general : Yes, music is subjective so it's entirely natural that some may find it not to their tastes. However, also consider the fact that the only member remaining in the original lineup is Markus. This means that Ensiferum at the present is essentially almost like a new band who tries to preserve the folky attitude while still proving fresh ideas.
this album is a masterpiece by anyone's standards, everything is so tight. even on the face of it, it's quite impressive; what other bands have ridiculously fast paced metal songs like 'retribution shall be mine' coupled next to 'celestial bond', a beautiful, harmonious acoustic track with female vocals? all topped off with 17 minute long track of perfect composition. the album stretches over 2 languages and at least 3 genres. ensiferum are by far one of the best bands going.

It took me a while to get into this song. At first I thought it was garbage, because of some bad vocals and really simplistic/primitive piano in the background. Now I can look past its flaws and appreciate it for what it is: an epic, emotional package filled with a little bit everyting I've grown to love in Ensiferum's songs.
I have some longer suggestions if you would like: "Achilles Agony and Ecstasy In Eight Parts" (28:38) by Manowar, based on Homer's "The Iliad" "Octavarium" (24:00) by Dream Theatre, an original concept about Dream Theatre's influences and their current influence on music "The Odyssey" (24:08) by Symphony X, based on Homer's "The Odyssey"
Realy... first time i listen to it i didn't like it, but then i dont accepted that ensiferum made a bad music, so i listened with lyrics and BANG!!! this is an epic masterwork music and the best one (even better than Victory Song). Sure, its more "progressive" than "heavy" metal, but i think ensiferum aways has a "prog" toutch... this album proves it and focus on this. My Opinion obviously. Sorry for the bad english hehehe

Ah, such an epic song. I love the progressive touch. It's pretty cool to hear this side of Ensiferum, I'm totally diggin' it. Good album imo, could have been better, could have been worse.
