As a pretty similarly obsessive creative, Takeshi Shudo's story just... It hurts me. It hurts me so much. I hope he found some sort of peace before dying.
As someone who writes every now and then, I understand this man's pain. Every story - _every_ story - has a beginning, a middle, and an end, and all of those are equally important. Often, the ending of a story is the first thing that I'll think of, and I'll write the rest of the story to it. And to effectively told that your story will have no end, by an executive who doesn't understand these characters, understand their arcs, even understand the themes of the story, who only understands that Pokemon = money...it'd be enough to turn me to alcoholism too. Edit: On reading the comments, I realized the perfect metaphor for this - the fact that Ash stays ten. This man wanted Ash to grow, to evolve, to change. He wanted to make a story, and that story would end with him realizing how far he'd come. But the higher-ups couldn't even let him grow enough to...well, grow. Even his age has to stay the same, over year's and year's worth of episodes. I can't even imagine how frustrating that must be.
The worst part about this is how everyone in the comments are just glad that it hasn't ended and want it to continue. Every story needs to end at some point if not it will become boring, stale, full of repetition and worst of all the characters don't grow or change. And Pokemon definitely has become boring and uninteresting
As someone who writes too, I feel you. If they really did want keep Ash for so long, I think a good place to have him pass on the torch would be Sinnoh. Ash gets to stay for a long time, but not too long to the point where he basically becomes the autopilot for the vehicle of whatever gimmick the execs want to push. And I think it would go like this: After Ash's adventures across the four regions he's been across, he begins to look out to the world beyond and sees just how big it is and how small he and Pikachu are compared to it. They've come a long way, but Ash begins to wonder if instead of being a Pokémon Master, he wants to see the world and learn if it's even possible to become a Pokémon Master. After all, by that point, it seems that he travels thousands of miles only to find he hasn't gone anywhere. Pikachu senses something's wrong, but Ash tells him it's nothing to worry about. The next day, Ash and co. come across someone who's just like Ash when he started on his adventure. A young man by the name of Go (a placeholder because I couldn't think of anything else). Everyone learns that Go wants to make as many friends as he can with both people and Pokémon and learn what it means to share the world they share. Pikachu warms up to Go, and Ash feels that maybe his journey is one he should make alone. So he finally comes out and tells everyone what he's been thinking. This floors everyone, Pikachu especially. After all, he and Ash had been through too much already to just give up now. They try to convince Ash to come back to his senses, but his mind was made up. Besides, he wasn't giving up on his dream. He was looking to see what else he can do to be the very best like no one ever was. Before he leaves, he makes one last promise to Pikachu: one day, they'll meet again where they first met, at Professor Oak's lab. In the mean time, all Ash wants Pikachu to do is watch over Go. The two lifelong friends finally part ways, thus concluding one saga and beginning the next starting with Go's adventure in Unova.
@Tattered Heart Ltd. / タタドハト LTD. Looney Toons is different, they might get a new series from time to time like Yu-gi-oh!, Digimon, Tom and Jerry, or Scooby Doo, but the original run is over unlike Pokemon, The Simpsons, and Spongebob whose original run is still going on.
11:14 This makes me happy when I think of Detective Pikachu. It’s a silly movie, sure? You would think making Pokémon lifelike would be cheesy, but they actually gave a darker, gruesome touch without making them look awkward or cringe. I think Takeshi would have enjoyed the movie.
@@msmx9088 The game is amazing. The movie has the exact problem that Takeshi had with the franchise, the formula and synopsis was stale and already done 9 times over. The game has over 100 "heart-to-heart" development and interactive moments between Tim and Pikachu, and the plot is in no way rushed. In fact, the game is pretty long and well thought out.
@@TheCartoonGamer8000 ur 2 videos about him were marvelous. I still show them around those who are curious what made the first movies and first seasons so special, Keep a backup from those, in case anything happens in the future, to preserve that knowledge!
So basically, Takeshi Shudo gave us the best years of the anime, knew it needed to grow and evolve like we've all been saying for years, he literally dies from obsessing over it so much, and yet they continue to keep Ash 10 forever and basically spit in this mans face even though he was 100% right. GG Pokemon Company, GG.
Meh, Personally I like the post Takeshi Seasons more, I like Advance, DP and am enjoying the most recent stuff a lot more than I ever did the OG series
11:14 Detective pikachu was...sort of that. It had a new cast. It tackled more relevant topics. It connected with me as a maturing pokemon fan who was losing a grip on the childlike wonder. It made me grin like an idiot too. I think he would have loved that movie.
Maybe because it didn't focus on Ash, and tackled a story, while different, can still work within the world of Pokemon. That's what I really like about this franchise, because it's so vast and full of variety, it has such great potential for story ideas of varying tones or themes.
@@patrickthehenchman2679 yeah its all we wanted something besides ash. Shame it took so long, we can only hope the message in the moneybags is clear to execs so we get more varied pokemon movies with different protagonists.
@smb85 dkc94 not really we were discussing the fact that we STILL have ash in the shows and most movies and that we only now got a different protagnist for a pokemon movie. The other comments may have brought up the big stall but this thread didnt. What would of hsppened. If the delay was unneeded is STILL more ash in the original series.
Wow. I never knew... this story was definitely coated in tragedy, but the severity of Takeshi’s reliance on drinking to continue writing is astonishing. This was a beautifully sad story told quite well. Not often is such a serious video made in regards of Pokémon, but I definitely enjoyed watching this. Excellent work. Thank you for sharing.
There are as many version of this as there are stars in the sky heh. Given that this is something that's joke about on just about every job, there's probably been songs like this since shortly after the concept of having a job was first a thing heh.
This man wanted the story to end with character growth and to tell a complete story but the higher ups wanted the fixed "what works" formula for as long as they can go? Where does that sound familiar? I am a guy who loves pokemon and im not knockin the people that like the newer stuff, but pokemon has been very "safe" for a lot of stuff as of late and I would love for them to shake things up, give us a game with Great stories, characters, worlds, mechanics. While some games and anime give us select things, they change things up before long.
I like how people talk about how pokemon is too safe and then when they make a radical change like cutting half the national dex people riot in the streets
The Four Star Gamer It’s not because they cut the National Dex, that was inevitable at some point. It’s *why* they supposedly did it. GF said they were cutting the National Dex so that they could focus on higher quality animations, as well as focus on making a higher quality game. Well, that was a huge lie as it has been proven that they used the same animations from the 3DS, but somehow downgraded them even more. The animations are the worst they’ve ever been. The gameplay and mechanics in general suffer the same fate. Games from almost 20 years ago look better in every way, except graphically (debatable). Arguably, many things in Gen 8 are either poorly executed and rushed (wild area) or broken (exp system and exp candies). That’s why people are upset: they were lied to.
@@FiveFoxesInATrenchcoat i personally think its perspective. For many hardcore fans now, DPPt were the hardest games and as such, the most loved (nostalgia's a bitch), as they were the latest at that time. People just getting into SwSh and pokemon in general have stated that the game is harder. I agree that the animation bit was a bogus lie, but they probably just wanted some reason other then "man, animating the same pikachu model for each game is getting boring. And i have to animated 800 more... I wish we could just cut half the dex.." and so, they did. I don't think anyone truely believed that they could keep it up. IMO, while cutting pokemon may have been a ploy to justify DLC, it also could help. Game Freak has the animators working like dogs. They get minimum pay. But the fandom also follows them like dogs. Sure, we had the people boycotting for nat dex, claiming that they will never buy a pokemon game again, but I'd bet they still did.
Fans: man add a story we don't want to do the same thing over and over Gamefreak: ok *makes gen 5* Fans: no this is way to different go back to the traditional formula that works the best Gamefreak: ok Fans: this is so lackluster and predictable we want some good story in it Gamefreak: .... Oh and btw it's funny how sword and shield was the moment where everybody complained about the national dex cut when the national dex was already cut out secretly in sun and moon. The problem isn't the national dex being cut, it's that most of the pokemon get arbitrarily blocked from being used in the newest region in order to make more money out of the stupid Pokemon HOME service plus DLC and the surface level excuses they made to justify this practice.
@@islandboy9381 That is typically what people mean then they are talking about it, myself included. I have noted several clarifying this themselves. Though personally, i am also upset about the actual national dex because i enjoyed reading through it.
Holy Moly that was deep going into how the writer of Pokemon back then wanted to end Pokemon. But I have to give my respect to the man before he passed away. @Lockstin & Gnoggin you did a fine job with this one. Also don't now who the other person is but he did a decent job translating for you. This is truly a great video. I truly loved it.
"Actual dinosaurs and Pokemon, but thats a story for another time." No, no. No no no no no Lockstin, you can't just leave that out there and gloss over it lol
@@baltoy7460 I read about that one. I honestly want to see a movie like this. It's much better than Shudo's other idea for a movie, which basically amounts to Team Plasma propaganda where Pikachu leads a rebellion.

This man was correct. Ash's story should have ended in Johto. If they wanted to continue in the next series with a new protag, then sure. But Ash should never have remained the main character; marketability be damned.
@smb85 dkc94 or he just grew as a character, instead of a dumb kid trying to achieve his dream he could become a mentor to new trainers in each region and help them achieve the same goal he had
@smb85 dkc94 that's not too bad for me..... Pokemon died for me after the ex era of cards, when Ash's voice changed, and I stopped playing after emerald .........
he didn't really die, he was just isekai-ed into a real life version of his creation (hope fully as a human in the good timeline) PS, spinda is probably one of his companions, ludicolo too, oh, and can't forget shuckal and tropius. I know i'm probably missing a few too.

Er, not really. The anime yes, but when it comes to the games the real issue is the lack of time and resources given to the creators. Its awfully difficult to experiment and innovate when you've gotta get the whole project done within 1-2 years. Game Freak does a pretty dang good job all things considered, but imagine if they had the freedom the Zelda or Mario team has.
Well, anime, it's comforting to note that the writer wants character growth and is tied to doing otherwise because of his boss. Games, it gets tricky. Well, the devs, they don't have the level of freedom afforded to some games. I think it's because they have a diverse sets of audience. Generation- wise, they consider the people who were playing since the mid-90's, and at the same time they also have the kids of these people.
I'd like to thank Takeshi for all he's done for us, all he suffered and endured to gives us everlasting memories. I don't believe he gets enough recognition in the pokemon company or community. For many including myself the anime was the doorway to this wonderful series, it's a remarkable treasure in it's own right
Damn even the OG headwriter himself knew that the Pokemon anime has so much potential. I remember when team rocket are supposed to be portrayed as comic relief yet are layered characters and had episodes confronting their pasts that were supposed to greenlight their character development and actually make you sympathize for them rather than just remaining the same annoying man children who are now just there for the sake of comic relief.
@@MxPokirby Ash is a really boring character you have to admit, he has little to no development, and the development he does receive is thrown away in the next anime. It would have been way better if they just got a new character for each anime.
The should of just changed the protagonist with each generation to match the games. It would allow them to have different stories with different personalities, like the Adventures Manga. They could of also brought characters back, making them older and being mentors to the new protagonist while also cashing in on nostalgia. But its a shame that we have to keep the same Ash, with his zero character growth.
Not per se the anime as a whole, but the "Ash saga" should have been stopped. Right now it's just the repetitive thing Takeshi Shudo was talking about. There is only so many times that Ash can become a great trainer only to have his progress reset when he stumbles upon the next region you can take until the suspense of disbelief gives away
@@jameschristophercirujano6650 And ash does grow every season. Every time he learns something new and eventually battles legendary pokemonand at least places among the top trainers. The problem is that that growth is thrown out of the window the second a new season starts and he is immediately beaten by a starter pokemon and apparently no longer knows how types work
@@MegaPompoen I'm referring to actual growing, a ten year old's body hardly exudes maturity. It's obvious that he's grown as a trainer, but he has not yet grown as a person.
Ash's story should have ended with the second movie defiantly. There's not much more you can really do after you save the world at the age of 10. You peaked
Honestly, I think the anime would have been more interesting if Ash's time as the MC was allowed to end. Every game starts off with you playing as a new trainer, so why shouldn't the anime reflect this. That wouldn't mean that Ash and whomever would be gone-gone, never to be seen again, but that we get a more cohesive Pokemon experience.
I agree. Digimon Anime and YuGiOh Anime proves it. Somehow YuGiOh's executives didn't mind making a new plot every few years. Heck, Pretty Cure does that for every year since 2009. Heck, Super Sentai does that since early 80's!
Wow, I wasn't expecting that... Great video! Also, they should have done with the Pokémon anime the same as Digimon did, by beginning each new season with new characters, even if the older ones were sill present somehow.
I wonder what sheudo would say about sun and moon and journeys Where they took a different direction and obviously made things different and less “repetitive”
Madness Arcade But at its core it’s still the same. Ash coming to a new region, having his progress reset, aspiring to be the greatest trainer, he succeeds. Wash, rinse, repeat. There’s only so many times you can do this type of story before it becomes stale and uninteresting.
I mean then there's the new Anime coming out as well. I've been trying to avoid spoilers, as it actually looks really interesting, so I don't know the in's and outs and how it is structured, but it feels like there is actually some progression taking place
Without spoiling too much, in Journey Ash is noticeably showing his experience, especially now he has Gou (not sure if the dub will rename him), a complete newbie as his partner. It's still too early to judge it, but so far I'm liking how they structure the story.
I used to watch the Pokemon series all the time, back in elementary and middle school school, I remember watching Pokemon Black and White before heading off to school. My dad never really like the anime much and seemed to hate it for some reason, even though I remember him having the game on his old game-boy. I never knew why he didn't like the anime, but liked the game and I kind of understand why since I am starting to not like the anime. The anime feels kind of dull with the same protagonist that seems to never grow up and I wish we could get a new protagonist already. I understand that Ash is well liked in the community, but I feel like it could really grab the attention of younger and older audience if we have a new protagonist which give the series a fresh start. You can ask a lot of Poketubers if they have even watched the sun and moon series who are theorists and you can hear that they have not really care about about the anime much or haven't had the time or the want to watch the series. I watched up around the third season of the sun and moon series and got bored of it. I realized that the episodes I particularly liked were the ones without Ash being much involve in it and finding myself happy whenever he wasn't the main focus of the episode, instead focusing on the other characters. Also, the part where Ash beat Hau left a sour taste in my mouth since it was such a stupid reason and a poorly executed plot twist. Then you remember that Hau wanted to win and beat his gramps to prove himself to his dad that didn't live on Alola. I don't know how they could introduce a new protagonist but I feel like they need to retire Ash and get a new protagonist and possibly a new pokemon for that new protagonist? Unlikely but would be a nice extra bonus, since I am tired of seeing that rat everywhere...
Because it gets too repetitive. The Pokemon series is going to need to end at some point or another, but if it doesn't, it just becomes aimless and not interesting.
I don't necessarily want a new protagonist. I want Ash to grow, physically and mentality, without resetting every season. If they had done Sun and Moon like they did X and Y, *without* resetting him back, and have him start with the knowledge he obtained in Kalos I probably would of enjoyed it.
@@wallybrown1341 I agree, when the main character keeps acting like a noob at Pokémon every time he goes to a different region, it gets really repetitive and annoying.
@@FireflyJuu I understand, it's just that I feel like getting a new protagonist will make the anime more interesting for me, since I'm kind of tired of Ash. But it would be a bit interesting if he also grows up a bit and retains his knowledge from previous regions. But I think most "kids" anime have their protagonists around 10 to late teens, so they probably don't want to age him that much.
@@timeless1882 I totally get it. It's really frustrating when he has to relearn everything everytime he's in a different area and reacts to everything like it's his first time. It would be much more tolerable if he were explaining what he's already learned to someone else, and a local explained region specifics to him or something along those lines. Also just for the record, when I meant I want him to age I mean gradually, like 3-6 months a region, putting him at 12-14 in Sw/Sh. I think that's still pretty reasonable, right? I think 😅
I'd love to see Ash's story end. He's been through enough. He's reached his goal of becoming a Pokemon master in Alola. I think introducing Go may be a way for them to replace Ash later on. If not, I want him to grow up. Plenty of Anime have character growth, and I'd love to see a new generation of trainers being trained by Ash, Serena, Dawn, Misty, Brock, May, and the rest. Who knows, if they did do that, maybe introduce new gym leaders, like Bonnie taking over for Clemont with her own team and Max taking over for Norman. It would be a neat way to continue. Maybe even have Ash become partners with a legendary if the writers say it is ok.
@@TOG285 I hope this happens when Ash's story ends: The anime now takes place several years later. Ash has (FINALLY) aged and is much older. Delia and Oak had since gotten married and had a daughter named Cinder (cuz you know, cinders and ashes? XD). So Cinder is gonna be a Pokémon trainer and Ash mentors her and teaches her everything he knows, and her partner could be an Eevee or something, IDK, or maybe something less predictable. Then she sets off and has her own adventure. What do ya think?
Finally The possible ending of the jelly-filled-dount's legacy Edit: And I mean only that; not talking about a new anime series with different characters or the franchise in general ever stopping
This is why the more dark things got introduced in xy and some held off from generations 4, 5, 6 all the way to 7 when Scotland dies.. death was a theme in gen 4; ghetsis's plazmavsRocket saga was cut and genocide was cut from 4, hence why lysander is (a person who wants beauty. Eg basically flipside cyrus) the fact that orange is opposite to purple too makes it add up additionally. But Az was the intended villain of xy

This actually made me incredibly sad. This man who struggled so wrote some of my favorite movies and TV episodes. How he passed is so incredibly tragic. Now that I think of it as an ending to the anime, Mewtwo Strikes Back would've been a great ending. Kid me wouldnt have been happy, but it would've been great. I wish we could've seen his vision for a series that grew with its audience.
Some of the anime actually heavily leans into the fact that Meowth is really useful as a mouthpiece (especially for the few psychic types that can't just thought project into humans heads), so it looks like his whole Pokémon revolt thing has been creeping in for a long time. The giant Tentacruel (that somehow has the ability to use Meowth as a mouthpiece even though Tentacruel are Water/Poison) is a good example of this.
Ironic, now with the final season or rather final episodes of Ash/Satoshi announced... one would wonder how much Takeshi Shudo's legacy will come into play for this and or if it will be memorable. I can say that maybe Takeshi Shudo will finally rest for this was his goal. And that no matter how it will end, it will end for one "eternal" MC finally.
This is such a bitter pil to swallow. Pokemon is a big aspect of my life, ever since it came out when I was 4, being my first 2D game remembered playing. That someone had to go through all of this, breaks my heart. Hopefully Takeshi Shudo can take remorse, to know that those children actually grew up with Pokemon, and still love it as adults. Bringing their children to the cinema, and enjoy everything, just as he wished. On a different note guys, Dr.Lava is an amazing content creator! You will love his video's and post! He even wants to bring a translated book out, over the very beginning of Pokemon, but people will have to spread the word! :O And if you love the movies and anime, TheCartoonGamer also has great video's about those and voice acting companies. This actually reminds me on the thought I had of Digimon Adventure vs Pokémon. How with the Digimon Adventure (the original series) protagonists got older (as seen in Digimon Adventure tri.) and how the original audience loved this vs how in Pokémon Ash stays 10 years old and nothing changes bar different regions, companions and different Pokémon. And yet, despite how Digimon kept it interesting, look at which franchise is more popular
Me, very drunk: "heeeey, new Lockstin Pokémon thing, yay" Lockstin: "this dude straight up died because of stress, sadness and overindulgence in substances" Me, now self-consciously very drunk: "ow :c"
makes me wonder when he started with that habit... i watched the goshogun anime (1981) and the its movie (1985), which were both mainly written by him and boy... the movie is way darker and is pretty much an entirely new story with known characters. already made me wonder if he was under the influence of something and that was over a decade before the pokémon anime even started!
Ash is actually 11 in one of the Movies, there was a special episode aired before the Movie where Pikachu and 2 Pichu's were having fun. Near the ending of the special Ash revealed that it was there 1 year anniversary with Pikachu since the day that they first meet meaning that the yesterday in the anime was Ash's birthday.
In a time three years from now, or rather three years from when this was written, the scarlet and violet games have arrived, and with them a new chapter of the anime, and last this prediction has come to fruition. I don’t know if it will explore different themes, but at the very least, Ash finally has completed his journey.
Oh my dear Arceus: Actual development, characters ageing, new protagonists replacing Ash, new stories and stories actually suitable for all ages all the way up to adults aka the original pokemon fans? Takeshi Shudo was a genius and they completely ignored him in order to keep making a hopeless and endless series... 😡 the only thing I would say didn't sound right were those two movie ideas... "I want Ash to experience character development, to one day look back with nostalgia"(and actually plans an ending) meanwhile the company keeps Ash a everlasting unaging moron, when he finally deserves to win a league they make him pointlessly lose once again, I'm talking about Kalos.
Reminds me of the Old Man from Colosseum who had a lvl 50 Pikachu (that loses in battle because plot) whose granddaughter is your companion. Something like that would be a fine adult ending for Ash, retired but still with Pikachu. Adult married with a kid would cause too much shipping wars.
Doctor Lava has managed to dig up so much lost Pokemon stuff I'm honestly kind of crossing my fingers he ends up getting the original script for the 3rd movie because I would love to read that.
Do not lament Shudo. Your dream to come true where people grew up with Pokemon came true in many regards. Even if people did not age the same way as you thought, and the anime, especially, did not age and cover many of the same topics as you wanted (and perhaps some fans wanted), there are still a large portion of us who grew up with Pokemon and learned from it in one way or another. I am more then certain many of us look at Pokemon from now to our childhood as you wanted Ash to and have nostalgia about it, even if we do not participate in one aspect of the franchise or another. We think about what we learned, or in some cases what we are still learning among Nintendo, Pokemon Company, and Gamefreak's plan to keep it going. I am certain many of us even plan to have our kids (should we ever have any lol) watch and look at the Pokemon series from start to finish to grow with. And there almost certainly is a point at which we all feel like we can end the story for ourselves, be it one of the movies or one of the seasons.
The Pokemon riot is the dumbest thing I've ever heard outside of Deviantart fanfiction. But he was right about Pokemon needing to be split into parts like how Yugioh or Jojo's is.
Can we get a high production biopic of this guy's life? It's such a classic tragedy of working on something you love be turned into a soulless corporate behemoth.
When it comes to how stories end, there is no real way to be completely satisfied with it. If the story ends, you long for it to go on. If the story keeps going, you’ll wish for it to be put to rest. There is no way to be completely happy with the ending of a story or series. While the story is still going, but hasn’t been going so long you want it to end, you’re floating in a happy limbo. Because one day, you’ll be hit with either the fed up exhaustion, or the crushing unhappiness, of the story either being beaten like a dead horse, or ending before you were satisfied. Some series’s are lucky enough to be so left open to continuation, as well as being satisfying enough to have the power to let its fandom carry it on, extending the limbo of happiness for just a while longer. Fandoms like Undertale and Cuphead have managed to achieve this. But, even then, eventually, people will get bored, and the story or series will be left to rot once again.
Ink Sans And The AU Crew Lmao what, any story can be ended in a satisfying way,it just requires actual writing skills, wanting more and more of a story that had a great and solidified ending is just a sign of immaturity and weird obsession with this story Btw Undertale AUs are absolute garbage, there are some decent AUs here and there(and even then, just decent as concepts) but others make me cringe from the bottom of my soul

I think Shudo would be proud to see Ash's journey finally come to an end after all of these years. I think the series after Journeys will likely be able to fulfill his dying wish of a new series with a new protagonist.

One of the major reasons I prefer the manga over the anime is that the characters in the manga are allowed to have real arcs. Their stories end. While the series itself is ongoing, the individual protagonists have a beginning, middle, and end to all of their stories. Occasionally they will be brought back as part of the supporting cast, but that is rare and reserved for major events.
I gotta be honest, if it wasn't for the Pokemon anime being so long as it is, I probably would never be into it like I did. The first seasons were ok, but more battles were kinda lame and nonexistent, not like in Gen 4 onwards, which is what got me. But I respect this dude.
A lot of people will be quick to agree with Shudo, that Pokémon should have "grown up" and then ended - However the bitter pill to swallow is that he was wrong. Pokémon has experimented with aspects that appeal to older fans (competative battling, older characters, fanservice like Remakes of older games, and Origins/Twilight Wings) and that's perfectly fine. However the reason any of us are talking it not ten, but TWENTY years later was because they knew that unlike Digimon and other increasingly irrelevant series, they had to maintain its ease of access to the youngest generations. So that even if teenagers and adults continue to love Pokémon, every new generation can be a 7-year-olds first. A timeless, endless adventure where each page is more exciting than the last, and the story never ends.

Oh and btw it's funny how sword and shield was the moment where everybody complained about the national dex cut when the national dex was already cut out secretly in sun and moon.

New and exciting protagonists? Pfft. That doesn't keep eyes glued to screens! We need our hat-boy and his cheerful electric rodent.
They should have ended the anime a long time ago; the Pokemon movie regarding the Legendary Birds would have been a great spot to end Ash's story.
Not per se the anime as a whole, but the "Ash saga" should have been stopped. Right now it's just the repetitive thing Takeshi Shudo was talking about.

@@psychopomp4135 "having his progress be reset" you...haven't watched sun and moon or journeys haven't you. Ash hasn't been 'reset' since xy
Without spoiling too much, in Journey Ash is noticeably showing his experience, especially now he has Gou (not sure if the dub will rename him), a complete newbie as his partner. It's still too early to judge it, but so far I'm liking how they structure the story.
That's why I really like Sun and Moon and Journeys. They're really unique and refreshing.

And if you love the movies and anime, TheCartoonGamer also has great video's about those and voice acting companies. Lovely stuff as well.
Stay safe, healthy and positive all!
Have a nice day :)
As a scientist myself I enjoy all of your videos. Thorough research and a well worded, highly informative script make them easy to follow and captively entertaining. Only thing is I wished you would upload even more ;)
“Takes a very small sip”
*AHHHHHhhh.*
Pokemon is more popular but if we go just by the shows then Digimon definitely has a way better show imo
Me, very drunk: "heeeey, new Lockstin Pokémon thing, yay"
Lockstin: "this dude straight up died because of stress, sadness and overindulgence in substances"
Me, now self-consciously very drunk: "ow :c"
makes me wonder when he started with that habit...
i watched the goshogun anime (1981) and the its movie (1985), which were both mainly written by him and boy... the movie is way darker and is pretty much an entirely new story with known characters. already made me wonder if he was under the influence of something and that was over a decade before the pokémon anime even started!
Plot twist: the end to the anime wasn’t actually planned to be any of those, ash was just going to turn 11.
He already did then he turned 10
Plot twist: Ash finally realize hes inside the pokeball world all along, and when his master summon him.......he came out as pikachu
Didn't ash turn 11 in XYZ?
Biohacker he was in a box the whole time that’s why the show has been going for a long time
Ash is actually 11 in one of the Movies, there was a special episode aired before the Movie where Pikachu and 2 Pichu's were having fun. Near the ending of the special Ash revealed that it was there 1 year anniversary with Pikachu since the day that they first meet meaning that the yesterday in the anime was Ash's birthday.
That slugma thing in the backround is great
In a time three years from now, or rather three years from when this was written, the scarlet and violet games have arrived, and with them a new chapter of the anime, and last this prediction has come to fruition. I don’t know if it will explore different themes, but at the very least, Ash finally has completed his journey.
Lockstin your theories did entertained me and my friend group. Still loved your work on them.
I've been subbed to you since the Darth Jar Jar theory and sometimes I can't believe how long it's been...

Doctor Lava’s in this? Sweet!
the only thing I would say didn't sound right were those two movie ideas...
"I want Ash to experience character development, to one day look back with nostalgia"(and actually plans an ending) meanwhile the company keeps Ash a everlasting unaging moron, when he finally deserves to win a league they make him pointlessly lose once again, I'm talking about Kalos.
I imagine pikachu finally entering a pokeball and ash taking off his cap for good at the end.
It's a shame that once promising anime turned into eternal conveyor.
Lockstin & Gnoggin
Thank you very Much for sharing this Story... Respect from the Azores islands!!!
Can we get a high production biopic of this guy's life? It's such a classic tragedy of working on something you love be turned into a soulless corporate behemoth.
My favorite Gnoggin video in awhile! 10/10
Ink Sans And The AU Crew
Lmao what, any story can be ended in a satisfying way,it just requires actual writing skills, wanting more and more of a story that had a great and solidified ending is just a sign of immaturity and weird obsession with this story
Btw Undertale AUs are absolute garbage, there are some decent AUs here and there(and even then, just decent as concepts) but others make me cringe from the bottom of my soul

Great video Lockstin, keep up the good work
As an upcoming writer, I can definitely feel the pain of a man not being able to see his creations blossom the way he wanted them to.
I love so much your serious videos, you might consider making more of them
I think Shudo would be proud to see Ash's journey finally come to an end after all of these years. I think the series after Journeys will likely be able to fulfill his dying wish of a new series with a new protagonist.
Heck yeah, Dr. Lava teamup!
Don't mind me.
I'm just watching Lockstin drink tea and act drunk for 15 minutes.
That old end times theory is still one of my favorites to this day and I still hope that maybe one day it might come true
Didn’t know he was an alcoholic
I never knew how messed up sheudo was
When people talk about him that stuff was never mentioned
The tone of the seasons and films have become more laid back but still just as great
Yeah this story was pretty tragic and unfortunate, imagine how i was reading this it really opened my eyes more about corporate greed and how it can destroy people
Damn well made video. Interesting to see how he dealt with his work and his stress. To bad he never got to see his work end the way he wanted.
I would like a serie for each region, with as protagonist the two "real" heroes of the gen, the both female and male playables characters as heroes.
Basically the Pokemon Special manga.
@@Pilachio I don't know much about it... But yeah.
@smb85 dkc94 Why not ?
This is why I like the Pokémon adventures manga, you see the characters grow and change and new characters interact with older ones.
Well, it all comes full circle. What Shudo wanted to do more than 20 years ago, finally happens.
If only he was alive...
Hello Lockstin, I have been following your channel for many years, I love it and I find your content very interesting, but this video in particular seems fascinating to me, and I thank you and Dr. Lava for sharing it, these details make us see the series of another way, as well as the culture and the oriental society, i hope you share more material of this style in the future, it is pure quality, congratulations!!! :)
Would have wanted it to ended nicely, authentically the way the original author wanted, as well as wanting the see more and more Pokemon for the rest of my life
It is such a dilemma
Anyhow, thank you Takeshishudo for making my childhood great, I wish I’d still get to see those forgotten drafts coming to the silver screen someday, if done authentically
Appreciate the love for Dr. Lava! 👌😎
