I myself, I listen at least twenty a day. Ten in the morning, right after I work out. And then ten right after lunch.
The artwork for this is helping me realize why there's still a point in creating when you're doing realism.
Uh, for a little context, I am a digital artist myself. I've spent... Uh, I don't know how long now actually, a few years maybe, trying to take my artwork from a severely played-out anime style to more proper realism. I started down that trek because I finally accepted the message that even stylized artwork is greatly improved by understanding real human anatomy, so I decided that I'd study realism and maybe one day find my own, most likely non-anime style.
The trouble is, the more I've studied realism the less I've been inclined to try to do things that are particularly stylized. At least not intentionally so. I've found that the better I get at realism the harder I'm trying to learn how to do it right. It's taking me down a path that, if I really continue with it, would probably lead to me trying to create with a photo-realistic look. The more I've started to slip down into that path though, the more I've been asking myself what the point of it even is.
I've stopped enjoying most stylized artwork (when I make it) and realism just has me asking why the fuck I'd put hours and days and weeks worth of effort into a single piece (not even talking about the years of study and practice) when I could just hire a model, get a good camera, and do some light editing instead.
Admittedly part of my problem has been that the tablets I've had have all..... really screwed with me in ways that have kind of killed my passion for art, and I can't say I'm totally thrilled to try to go back to traditional either. On top of that there's some life circumstances that aren't favorable for inspiration, as well. A lot of things.
But this - the artwork used as the picture for this video - this is reminding me. This piece is reminding me why there's still a point in putting in that effort instead of just snapping photos. And it's also reminding me that the direction I move into doesn't have to be total realism (the anatomy here looks pretty off to me), but.... I mean this kind of style is intended to have fully realism-based anatomy, there's not supposed to be stylizing in that usually which is possibly kind of a fault in my book, but... the point is that I actually really, really love digital painted styles. I've only done it a few times myself, I really haven't gotten how to do it down yet and I keep.... uh, mostly accidentally procrastinating with it, but usually digital painting is both really fun to do, very natural, and when done well really, really beautiful.
And actually now that I think about it, I wonder how easy or not it would actually be to find a model who can actually make interesting and unique facial expressions. Most of them just do basically duck face.
And realistically most of my characters aren't human, so why the fuck am I even thinking photography would work as a substitute. It's not like I could edit wings onto a photo - I mean I might be able to do it and get it to look pretty good at this point, but in the end I'd still be right back to trying to do photo-realism myself so what the heck? And no, I'm really not one for cropping multiple photos together, I forget what it's called and I've seen some people do it well but usually looks strange and unnatural. Pretty sure people call that "uncanny valley".

TL:DR; The picture for this video made me realize that I should stop forgetting that I really like digital painting.

@@noahgrenier1933 I appreciate the comment as well even though I am not an artist. I can't even draw properly on my own (I am somewhat fine with redrawing other stuff as long as it's not too complex.) I know I probably just need more time and practice. I am doing mostly analogue stuff on real paper for now because I can't get used to the tablet I bought. It is just too abstract for me right now to not look at my hands and still draw the line where I want it to go. I don't have time to practice right now unfortunately :(
I think that the point of drawing anything is to express a feeling (at least that's why I do it). You can tell a model for example that you want its expression and pose to resemble sadness, fear but you may have something in mind that you can't make the model understand. I don't really know what you do at that point and level of skill since I'm still a noob but if I ever reach that level I might not even like it because I personally draw to escape from life and reality so a style that reminds me life such as realism would even be boring to me.

I know that exists photoshop and photos as well, but theres something when we draw that can make our feelings in to a reality and the know of that you made it with your own hands mind, feelings and creativity it's incredible no matters what's the style that you're making.Don't encapsulate your talent in 1 type of style mix them! Use all the styles that you want to create get a variety of draws.Well if you are getting troubled about why are you making art it's simple you have feelings opinions and you have a talent in your hands.
