He played this in Sydney last month, and sadly many people in the crowd used it as an opportunity to have a chat. Glad there are people elsewhere who aren't so rude.
He is the reason I started playing Cello :) Thanks Perttu for introducing me in such a magnificent instrument. And thanks Mikko for making me improve my drummer thechniques :)
Otherwise, I'd like to know who said that quote. Because if you consider "musicans" as the composer, it's pretty vague, since proficiency is, according to your opinion, very relative. If "musicians" refer to the interpret, interpretation has to live up to the composer's intent, not otherwise. To be a good composer requires intelligence, sensitivity and care for the effect every note has on the listener, and that in my opinion is proficiency, like Queen, Brahms, Stephen Shwartz and Chopin has.
"The only factors needed for music to be good are that the musicians are proficient and compositions live up to the intent of said musicians." If it wasn't how he wanted it, it wouldn't exist. As far as proficiency, it has been proven many times. Your elitist attitude shows you care more about status than music itself. If these people find this better than the Grand Tango, then for them it is inherently better. End of story.
Come on... bitch please... have a look at the Grand Tango by Piazzola... this piece is noob composition beside it. I'm not saying it's bad, it's cute and all but it does not show mastery of composition, nor mastery of cello interpretation. It shows he can do simple and cute stuff.
