Mahalo nui loa. I teach here in hawaii, big island. I have been playing Sax and just picked up a student Yas-23. (179794A). This student model is beat! So it will be my first ever over haul. Rods, pads, etc!
    Any suggestions?
Kits to purchase, tools to create or acquire before going at it.!? What do you think of the Gu Gu repair kits sold on Amazon?
Is there a web site or a one stop shop that could help facilitate repair needs. (No stores here in pacific)… this goes well I’ll try to start a small clinic helping others!
Mahalo for help. Ps, great video.

Hi Wago, sorry not to reply sooner. I have not known previously about the Gu Gu repair kits. It is certainly inexpensive, but don’t know about quality, but many positive reviews. It may be better than nothing in a remote situation, but it seems to me you would need to have a kit specific to the instrument you are repairing for sizing, etc. It does show a size chart for the pads, so you may be able to check the sizes. The Woodwind Brasswind carries a fair amount of repair tools and materials (wwbw.com). If you do a google search for woodwind repair tools and materials, you will find a lot of resources. Wish you the best with this pursuit!!

Any oil from light sewing machine oil to 20 weight motor oil will work. The glue is called contact cement. Superglue can be used.

With technicians at $100/hr in NZ, I find it is cheaper to buy another sax. DIY repairers may be met by unforeseen challenges, so beware
