i don't know how or why this vid came up in my suggestions BUT!!!! As a British born male of Caribbean (Jamaican) heritage....... Vaseline was always and continues to be, in the house! - Vaseline was used for the following.... a backup "hair grease", Elbow Cream, Knee Cream, Foot (Heel Back) cream, Lip Balm, Hand Cream, Face Cream (In the winter), Shoe Shine for black school shoes, Mixed with Vicks Vapour rub and "Bay Rum" for your chest when sick, To reduce the welts on your skin after you get beaten LMAO! The list goes on..... haha

If you ever used the old fashioned hair grease you have used petroleum jelly.
We know it works. I use Vaseline on my face, it is the thing that works for my face
I put Vaseline in my hair it makes it soft and curly
Youngstahs - back in the day, when we sat on the stoop and did twist outs and cornrows for free, we used blue magic, royal crown, baseline, etc and our hair grew!! This turned out nice Nia! That seemed like a lot of Vaseline but I guess it worked. You are lovely sis. Thanks for being our guinea chica!

In thought anyone with a speck of hair knew about using Vaseline or Blue Magic ...that White Rose and Crown Royal on their hair. One of my grandmas used a hair promenade called Murray's. So it's been around for centuries in the black communities.

How did you use it just on the scalp or what ?
I tried this style this morning and got compliments on it! One lady came up to me and asked for my barber's phone number! I did this style in a rush, so the scarf stayed on about 10 minutes. I didn't have vaseline so I used Isoplus's Castor oil hair & scalp conditioner. I also didn't have Garnier Fructis Edge Control so I used Murray's Loc-Lock gel. The style for me turned out pretty well!
Hey Nia! We are at the same exact length as we buzz cut at the same time. We also have VERY similar hair textures! I currently have my scarf on and followed the vid to a "T!!!" When I remove my scarf, I hope my hair looks as beautiful and yours and Jaelah's does!!!

Nothing is wrong with Vaseline, this is what our mother would put in our hair also Blue Magic or Dax and our hair was long and thick so I don't understand why natural hair girls are afraid of using something that has been around for decades

Thank you for sharing your journey. I have salt and pepper hair. I cut my hair off a year ago because I could not dye it anymore. I had to become okay with accepting me. I have cut my hair short before so that was not an issue but 43 years young. I was not ready to face this life. I love my hair and its growth. Now I am growing it back all natural.

If you or your mom ever put hair grease in your hair (Blue Magic for example) then you've had vaseline in your hair before. Vaseline is the brand name of petroleum jelly which is the first ingredient in every hair grease that I've seen.
Ahaha I'm pretty sure my mom still puts Vaseline in my brother's hair when she runs out of other stuff. His hair is long so it must have benefits
My grandmother used to put Vaseline in my hair when she did my hair and my aunts hair. And are here used to grow like crazy. I think I'm about to buy me a bottle of Vaseline.
Firstly; I’ve gotta say how gorgeous you are and I love the way you presented that entire video. I was smiling throughout and giggling in between 😉you’re a beautiful soul. I’m a black South African woman (with short natural hair) and Vaseline is a must have in every black house hold; used for absolutely every part of your body, yes including the hair lol. It’s a lip balm, body moisturizer and hair “softener” as we have courser-textured hair. A small comb like the one you use right in the beginning wouldn’t even go through our natural hair without the help of water and Vaseline lol. Having said that though I’m going to try this hair-greasing (yep that’s a lot of products that went into that) Wish me luck with the edge-control part 🙃

I just want to thank you and the others who provide the tutorials...I chopped my hair off last winter and didn't know how to manage it... I'm in love with Cantu products and I have noticed that the Black Jamaican Castor oil mixed with Tea Tree oil has truly grown my hair in the last two months...thanks again...

Neither you or jaelah knew the purpose of it. She only used it because her dad told her to! I am in my 60's and me and my 8 sisters where raised on Ivory Soap to wash, Vaseline as a scalp conditioner and Royal Crown hair grease as a lock in moisturizer! But you ladies are young! I said all of that to say this; the same way you felt about what Jaelan was saying, is the same way we feel about following your videos! Explain everything you're doing and why! Also keep in mind; Vaseiline and a nightly scalp massage cost $1.99 and last 6-7 months. How much does your scalp massage oil cost for a 30 day supply? No shade! I respect the hustle and your willingness to give someone else a shoutout! That's what makes you special!

I tried to do a laid wavy look, I forget which TH-camr it was from. But my hair was way too curly so instead of getting large waves, I got little tiny waves and my hair wouldn't stay down :( Yours turned out pretty good though lol !

Growing up in Nigerian in 90s we use Vaseline for everything… Hair, lips, first aid, whatever lol. I remember a bee stung me and my mom goes oya go and rubb Vaseline on it 🤦🏽♀️ whatever it worked I guess🤣
Vaseline was my go to to replace hair grease if I was out when I was in high school lol. It adds a lot of sheen but is really heavy
Don't be afraid to put Vaseline or any grease in your hair, our mothers and grandmother's been doing it for year and they hair haven't fallen out and usually look better than ours lol.

I was recommended to Zala from a hair dresser and their Instagram and website had amazing photos and tutorials. My package was express shipped and arrived to me in 2 days!!! I was so excited and ran home to collect it not knowing what to expect. The packaging was amazing, so over and beyond. When doing these natural hair journies one needs to consider, their family background also, each person's hair grows at different rates etc, one could have had thick/full hair in the beginning. Vaseline, that's all I use, that's basically all I've ever used (it smooths the hair, helps it stay flat), always been natural, never had a perm etc.

I'm Haitin ..we use vaseline ...I boil it until it melts and but it in my bath water to keep from using lotion as a quick moisturizer on date nights with that pretty red dress 😜 .. my son has dreads and I use it as a hot oil treatment then after I rinse it it .I wash his face with dudu black soap ..our skin is flawess

We have a similar hair type. Fine 4a/4b coils and ringlets. Won't really hold a curl like a twistout or anything but it will slick down with just a dab of gel. I just big chopped my hair for the third time, going to let it grow long this time. Excited to follow you on your journey.

When I was a child we did not use a lot of products in our hair. We washed it twice a month and greased our hair with blue magic or vaseline (depending on what money looked like) we all had healthy thick natural hair. Just got mine shaved off Wednesday because of damage over the years from perms, bleaching....etc. great video!
