- I survived [REDACTED] days in the Minecraft Backrooms. This was insane. Literally. I am not mentally well after that.
Also, yes, this video is scripted, that is kinda the point, it is not supposed to be a traditional 100 days video rather a more original take on the trend.

I spent / survived potentially 100 days in the Minecraft Backrooms (credit to Luke TheNotable for the original idea). The Backrooms are a creepypasta (similar to something like an SCP from the SCP Foundation) about liminal spaces. This 1.16 / 1.17 hardcore survival mod challenge was insane. Not Minecraft, But Water Rises or Minecraft, But Lava Rises, or any other datapack challenge like that. This is a speed run / speed runner of the Minecraft Backrooms mod. This video is like Dream SMP lore / war and Minecraft Manhunt in how cinematic it is, using the Minecraft Replay Mod.

The reason for you spawning randomly at literally the beginning of Minecraft is just you being transported into another level of Backrooms, which to leave you must kill the ender dragon. I have no clue if tools you get from "MC Level" transport from that level to all further ones, but I doubt it, probably.
@@Therevengeforget I think it’s that you spawn in because you got the good ending where you escape but you lose any memories of it and all your items, but sometimes you keep your items and memories, which can be used in an smp to be kinda used as reasons why people will suddenly come back from being missing not remembering any of their life and not having anything on them or how you could start to explore it better and begin to understand it
I love the take on the 100 days format
Instead of narrating everything, there were some aspects of roleplay
I love how the character always showed fear and confusion and never got god-tier end game armour, showing how he is so insignificant compared to the backrooms
this was basically what i exactly wanted to do and portray, i wanted to do a unique take on the tired 100 days format and i felt like the backrooms was the perfect subject for something like this. i didnt want to do normal minecraft stuff since i felt like that wouldve diminished the backrooms feeling.

7:53 Impossible to miss, it's the center of attention.

@@giraudy221 well...that's strange. A dark figure in the normal overworld.
We think he finally found the exit but decided to go back...but what if the "real" world was another level? it would explain why there is still a dark man following him (that, or it escaped with him). Also it would explain why there is another portal...in the normal world you had to suffocate to enter, and now he finds a portal.
So maybe he never left, it was all an illusion.

@@IonutzGamesMc I think that's the point. On the backrooms wiki, where a lot of things are expanded, its treated like the SCP wiki, but there are levels that seem like an escape but just lead back to level 0.
i genuinely enjoyed this, the vague glimpses of potential threats were an AMAZING detail, especially with how attention on them didn't linger for too long, making it feel even more spooky lol

Fun fact: in this mod once you "escape" the backrooms you will notice that the overworld seems different for some reason maybe a bit foggy? And then you get the achievement "You never truly left" and if you continue moving you can find portals bringing you back to the other levels so basically once you enter the backrooms in this mod you can never escape

at 0:23 i thought my pc got crashed bcuz the sound when i am, watching yt videos is the one he made in his video. lol i literally thought: "Bruh."
To my surprise this was actually kinda scary, and I had to remind myself that it was just minecraft. You did a great job building up dread and tension instead of just using typicall in your face jumpscares. 10/10 even closed my eyes for a second on day 53 when you started to turn around.

I knew the ending was going to be more and more rooms as I knew one of the levels of one of the possible cannon back room story’s had a real life look alike and I guessed it was that.

I love how most of the time Garfilled is just gaslighting himself despite the fact that he's y'know IN THE BACKROOMS
theory: the black monster is just past verisons of himself. thats why you can see so many at the end, because he never MADE it to the end and always got stuck there, thats why you can see him hidden in every level, thats why he is looping, thats why the days go by so fast, because he didint truly escape. he just is there for a while and escapes over and over, you cant escape thats whats scary about the backrooms, the only way to escape, is to reach cluster 2 which no-one has ever done. levels 1 - 1000 are charted, yet levels 1000 - 2000 isnt, what level you escape on is how much time you have until you come back, escaping level 0 is 0 years, 1 = 1 year 2 = 2 so on and so fourth, you need to escape at level 80 to never come back in your life time, but once you are trapped each life you have just sends you back. he is trapped, torturing himself, the chair was him trying to send a message, thats why you can see a past verison of himself waiting for someone to come in the corner, each time a black person is there, it represents him, hes so lost and confused because he never remembers, he sees himself running in the same path of him, unaware that that black thing is him in a different time and place, hes stuck no matter what, each time you go there, it gets harder to get back, until you die, ither in the back rooms or in real life, there is no true way to escape it except making it to cluster 10. which you will be greeted with level 0 but its one hall, directly down the hall is a portal to the real world, once you enter it, you never return living your life peacefully.
EDIT: AFTER rewatching the video closely i figured out somemore. firstly, the creatures only appear in the places that the backrooms are delapitated, meaning that it existed for longer than the normal backrooms, so the black monsters are past verisons of himselfs, but the ones in the end are future and past verisons of himself. also, the ending doesnt make sense, having him walk into a portal that he apparently knew perfectly where, it was but in the start, he had to suffocate himself during which he said he had to do it mutiple times, each time another verison of himself ( past verison ) got into the backrooms. aswell as the loop segment in the video, where it loops the video during which, a verison of himself got stuck, while other verisons escaped earlier and more. level 3, the long pipe with the hallway, has barely any entitys in it, but there is a loop, and that black figure isnt a PAST verison of himself or a FUTURE verison of itself, it is the same timed verison of himself, but its a mirror. plus in the first scene of the video where he glitches into a wall put him into the backrooms aswell. him sitting in the chair is a meaning for something, as who would sit in a lonley chair, in a room with only 1 exit. i do not know what the meaning is, i will post EDIT 2 when i figure it out, but for now, that is all my friends.
the "past lives" concept was something i was absolutely considering but couldnt figure out how to include. good interpretation

The creature that was chasing you in level 2 , is called an entity , to be more specific , it‘s name is The Smiler. It‘s basically a face with a huge smile. To make it not aggressive, you need to stay calm and not panic if one is infront of you. If it‘s behind you , you can run away like you did.
Was _not_ expecting this level of quality out of what initially seemed to be yet another 100 days video.
This put a super interesting spin on the formula. Great work.

If I remember correctly there is like an entire scp-like community, creating new levels of the backrooms, I'm 70% sure level 20 is a forest that may explain this

I'm such a huge fan of the backrooms, there's more than 999,999+ floors to it! It goes into negatives, decimals, positives, etc. I reaaally hope they add some of the other floors to this mod, it would be AWESOME! Especially since I'd love to explore them :D

the ending was spooky on level three you could see his character spiral into madness with the repeat of the same line and seeing the shadow figures, then he got out and then deciding to go back went back after he was free and you could see the progression of the days into eons far after the earth blew up and the universe became black and empty, then you see him and groups of shadow figures around him
Also, on day 17 in the red wallpaper room on level 0, pretty sure that was the Manila rooms. It drains your sanity more quickly
Its the Red Rooms. The manila room is the safest place, and the only place where you can find other people in level 0

If you ever find an area in the backrooms with blood red walls, leave. Its a trick to get you to want to go because its different. Thats where they get you lost, there will be no exit in that area

It's probably not meant to be a metaphor for anything, but to me this really seems like depression. The endlessness of the maze-like hallways always making you feel trapped and hopeless to find an escape, but you do find glimpses of hope in the form of portals, yet they only lead you deeper into even more hopeless mazes. Days can feel so similar and monotonous almost like you're going crazy as the last level portrays. The monsters are always watching just one step away but yet you are too afraid to confront them, so you choose to rather aimlessly wander the backrooms. When he finally makes it back into the real world, even though he knows what horrors await him, he still decides to go back; which is much like how people with depression often don't let themselves feel happiness, whether that's because they don't feel like they deserve it or don't want to bother trying anymore. I realize this was just a video made for entertainment and fun, but kinda just my theory of the backrooms having a bit more of a metaphor for something.

Everyone says that the black figures are him, old versions. But I think they're un-loaded versions of what he goes through. Yes, you see them as he wanders, but those are all him, playing Level 1. The backrooms is infinite, therefore, he will see un-loaded versions on himself, presets almost. New world slots. The backrooms is ahead of time, while making the player be put back in time. The newer versions can't see him, but them (newer versions) playing. Almost like the backrooms is a cloning machine. There are no monsters, creatures, nothing. Just him, over and over, and over.
But he wasn't the one who started it. I believe that the backrooms was the back of a Hotel (the wallpapers), that chair was a random chair set there that the staff never cared to put up. Leaving it, as the hotel got old, and the Backroom grew. It created a new, a fake world. Escaping, is just a new chapter. It loops, even though its physically impossible

Actually the backrooms has 9 levels but the other 6 are hard to reach bc they are in other portals in the level pipe dreams if you go in the other way u find another that leads to level 4 snd if u wander far enough into level 0 u can also find a Portal that leads to level 4 and in lvl 4 there is portal to lvl 5 and so on until level 9 then ya escape ( its literally canon by the lore)

This is one of the most brilliant ways i've ever seen a video executed in my entire life. The way you limited your inherent game mechanics by not using F5 or jumping, and not having any tools really left me with this feeling of dread, especially when you remember that this is a meta-parody of the idea of an 100 days challenge, where the whole intent is to achieve the feeling of accomplishment in 100 Minecraft days. You use these beautiful scenes and amazing references to other pieces of horror media, and as the video slowly transitions from a joke video to whatever this is, is an absolute masterpiece. My favorite part is how things started to blend together, giving that exact feeling you were probably going for, where the progress you could possibly make is immediately disregarded as you cant escape from the scrawling infinite corridors. Absolutely amazing.

I like how, despite hunger seemingly being a non-factor, he only runs once (at least on-camera), it’s a small touch but it gives the video a small bit of realism because you can’t just run everywhere if you were actually in this situation, also I like how, while regular 100 days videos also have a journal-like feeling, it feels far more present here, maybe because everything feels more dreary in this video

Reason why most of the back rooms areas are unsettling: the thing about being in the backrooms is that they are known as “luminal spaces” and are made to give off heavy nostalgia. Like the second biome on level 0, it’s supposed to make you feel uncomfortable or uneasy. Red is known as a fear color and is made to make you raise your guard, and turn on your fight or flight situation. Hope this helped

Im pretty sure theres also more to the psychology of liminal spaces, if im correct, they are common places, as you said, made to give the feeling of nostalgia, they always look somewhat similar to places most people having been to, such as school hallways, but the thing about the backrooms, is that they are always completely empty of other people, leaving that hollow, unsettling feeling to the person seeing the image. Sometimes theyre also places that *should* have people, like a street of a city, but theyre still empty, full of nobody, almost like those "youre the last human alive after an apocalypse" kind of things
Ofcourse theres also even more to it but theyre mainly familiar images with something unsettling about them, something that just *feels* off
