Another awesome video, thank you for being willing to share your wisdom with us who are just starting out! I have been using Pixie Set as well but love how you use it, thank you again for sharing!
Hi Fenna big fan love your videos and thank you for sharing all your tips and DIY tutorials. On this video I was wondering to what size to you size photos for the gallery and what size are final images given to clients.
It seems you go through a bit more than necessary for the delivery part. Is this because of Pixieset’s capabilities/limitations or you just choose to do it that way? Shootproof makes all of that easy. Just curious, thanks for sharing, great video as usual.
Hi Fenna. I really enjoyed seeing the final edited photos with your camera settings. Question: How many of your clients only purchase the minimum number of photos (I think you include 3 in the session)? How many photos on average do your clients end up purchasing? Please, please do an editing video...how do you edit so many sessions and photos? Love your videos and thank you for sharing.
For a regular session I include 5 images at the moment. I think (out of my head) close to 75% of my clients purchase the entire gallery. I think it helps that they already see the edited photo. Editing might come up soon :)
Thank you for the information.Great Video☺🌸.I do similar things with my portraits. I had a smash cake once damage my background.oil got on it from the cake..I see you used maybe a paper backdrop, good idea💡.❤
My backdrops are actually made from a thick vinyl and very easy to wipe clean. Some backdrops I've been using for more than 5 years and many, many cake smashes. I get mine from www.studiobackdrops.eu and www.fotoachtergronden.nl
I never write comments or something like that, but I really like an appreciate all your videos. You are amazing teacher and photographer. I also love the fact that you are willing to give so much information. If its possible, can you make a video about your advertise, if you do, or how to get your clients, how you keep them coming back, tips you apply to them so the stay with you and not look for other cheaper photographer. Thank you so much in advance.
I really tried, but it is stuck somehow :) I used all my muscles to press the bar down (of course I loosened the button), but it's a bit stuck. Good you noticed it should go lower!
Hey sweetheart. I love how you set up for cake smash sessions. Ive seen a few of your videos where you explain how you do so but could you do one where you give more of the details with measurements? I just did a cake smash session for a family member, mom did the set up since i dont have a studio yet and in the pictures all i had was halves of the balloons at each side, a white middle where the baby sat and just barely the bottom of a garland over the top of the picture (not sure if that made sense). I just want to be able to neatly include the decor in the photo. THANKS!
Thank you very much for your really informative videos. You are a great photographer. Where do you buy your accessoires for the shooting. I would like to have the bathtube (I have seen it at the background in your video). Thank you very much in advance. I am looking forward for more videos.
Thank you! I have some links in the description of the video and sometimes I share i specific videos where I got items. The cake smash bathtub you can find here www.newbornprops.eu
Hi Fenna, I love watching your videos, I am learning so much. I also use pixieset but I edit all the best photos which is about 25 and include the PIN number so they can download onto their computer but if I want them just to view it how do I do that? Just send it without the PIN number? And they pick the ones they like by putting a heart? How will I know which they choose? And once they choose how do I just send them those? Do I make another collection? What is a We transfer? Thank you for making these wonderful videos ❤️
I do the same thing with the gallery, but I didn't think about the low resolution photo for social media, that would be nice for parents and the photographer too! Thank you for sharing your informations with us, I know some photographers that don't want to share all this with anyone. Maybe they think that other people can steal their strategy.. bah
Good to be aware of sickness. Whooping cough (kinkhoest) is also very dangerous. Did you get your vaccination booster for this? It is recommended for anyone who works with newborns 👍
Hey Fenna, what backdrop fabric do you like the best and why? I have tried a vinyl one and a vinyl silk one that I'm not overly happy about how they kay and the wear and tear. Also, how do you store backdrops? Thank you!
hi fenna.im a fan since you are starting your youtube videos. =) i just wanna ask what kind of seamless backround do you use on your session.is it waterproof?how do you clean it after a cakesmash session?because it always looks new everytime i watch your videos. =)and how many times do you use it before disposing it?thank you and more power on your channel
Hello Fenna. Why do you send you images through wetransfer instead of letting them download from pixieset? And also how long do you keep the pixieset gallery active?
Fenna! Your amazing! I am trying to get my hands on a D750 as I have a D5200 and would like to upgrade. I am looking at a used camera because I am not a professional photographer and am on a budget. Especially since I am just doing this for fun for now. What is your opinion on used photography gear?
Whether you're a pro or not, you need to decide what you're using the images for. Will you post them online, or print little versions for a photo album? Maybe you want to make your own wall prints for friends and family? If you're a portrait or lifestyle shooter, your choice of camera or system will generally be determined by the lenses / focal length you want to use, rather than the brand or body. Second hand lenses are often still very good (and sometimes better than new ones!) if you get them from a reputable source. Specialist photography equipment for landscapes, sports/action or astrophotography will usually consider the capability of the body first. The next factors to consider are where you will take the camera and how often will you use it. I'll give you my own choices as an example. I shoot kids portraits professionally, but also shoot travel and street photography, and hope to graduate up to weddings. I want the ability to print my images, but obviously not on billboards. I also need to take the system everywhere with me. All things considered, I needed a lightweight, robust system with fast prime, wide angle, and affordable telephoto lenses. The M4/3 Olympus system ticked all the boxes. I can carry around a camera and lens the same quality and specs as the one in the video in two pockets, or in the pocket of my backpack. Additionally, their Pen-f range are amazing, small cameras with stunning prime lenses available. Unfortunately most people are tricked by marketing to think they need a massive, full frame camera, and it just isn't the case. Hope you find what it is you're looking for! (Thanks for coming to my TED talk 😂) 🙏
Hello Fenna, I've missed watching your videos even though I dont do newborn but I always watch your videos. I have a question though, do you think "Man" should also do newborn Photography? Thanks.
What do you do with the photos clients don't buy? Do you delete them or save them and use them on your website or just save them in your computer? I'm new to this
Just in case you don’t know, those masks aren’t very good at preventing the spread of cold. You’re supposed to use masks that are structured (kinda like a bowl shape) that have a metal strip that you pinch to fit your nose and a separate straps for under the ear and over them. Something I learned while my son was in the NICU.
Hello Fenna, I have a question about pixieset , when the clients choose their photos by liking with a heart, how can you see witch one they have choose?
I will get an automatically generated email from pixieset letting me know they have created a new 'favorites' list. After I receive this email, I send an email checking with the client if they're done picking photos and send them the payment instructions. In Pixieset I can see their list.
Hi Fenna 😀.. But if you have 100 pictures.. You will edited all of them?? Because if the customer choose, for example 10, you work for 90 pictures more..
Do you ever have trouble with the pixiset free version photos provided to clients while printing them As I always think it gives low resolution in free version and won’t print good
I don't use pixieset to send the high resolution files, because I indeed believe that the free version doesn't support this function. I select the files in a folder and create 4 versions (black-white/social media) and send them with WeTransfer
@@FennaPhotography Even in free version of pixieset clien can chose high res or mid res. I'm using this for sending images and nobody had problems with this. Before I started using this I checked sending gallery to myself, downloading images and double checking resolution xx
hi Fenna! i also use pixieset but i don't put any watermark or sth like this because first of all this is in low resolution and with no possibility to download by the client, so why you do this?? just I'm curious.
Pixieset displays images at web standard sizes - I don't think it resizes them up but the size they display is still quite high. That means someone could still click an image to make it full sized, and screen-shot the images they want from the Pixieset gallery.
The tub is from www.newbornprops.eu. I do fill the tub with a little bit of warm water and soap. The kids love it. I don't have power cords/cables close to the set, since I use speed lights and they are pretty high from the ground (and one is protected in the softbox). The can splash a bit, but never so much that I get water on my camera
I use Pixieset too, still on free but when they release their portfolio website solution I'll gladly pay for that and the client galleries together. 😁 Just FYI they also have an option to put a watermark on your images when you upload them. This is what I do to save time. You can either write in the text box or a transparent png you probably already use, and when you make the client gallery you can select which one you want on there, and bingo, it's done. 🙏
I add the watermark in a batch editing action, so it doesn't really take a lot of time to add the watermark. It's a good tip though. Thank you for sharing!
Fenna&Photography Hi Fenna could you share how to do the batch edit , I’ve recently lost Lightroom so working mainly with photoshop . Do you resize to small on a batch or individually would make life so much easier . Your amazing for helping with your videos are so inspiring
I partly agree with you. Over a year ago I photographed the birth of two identical twin boys. The mom had a cold sore at that time and of course she could touch and hold her own babies. However, the hospital staff recommended her to wear special patches and not kiss the boys while she still had the cold sore. Here the midwives recommend not to have visitors with a cold sore coming to see the baby. If they still want to come (for example close relatives), they will recommend that they don't touch, hold and/or kiss the baby. As a photographer I don't want to put the baby in a risky situation, only for a photo shoot. I'm very happy I never had a cold sore and of course, I hope I will never get one. This is just my recommendation., but I agree it sounds a bit harsh.
@@FennaPhotography I had the same-ish experience, I get cold sores so I told my sons nurses and doctors about it. they said it's perfectly fine for a baby to be held and around someone with an outbreak, they just can not let their face touch the infant. we come from different areas, so I'm sure the doctors say different things. I just thought I'd let you know other opinions on the matter. I should add my son was 2 months early, so he was considered vulnerable but they still said it is okay, just not to let an infected face touch him.
I am not sure of the eucalyptus. I am an aromatherapist as well as a professional photographer. Eucalyptus is poisonous if ingested. Although it takes 3ml of eucalyptus to cause cessation of a man, I wouldn't chance it, just incase the child starts putting the eucalyptusin thier mouth. Great photoshoot with great shots.
