  • It’s hard to be an intelligent Christian without somehow handling Origen’s ideas. He set the ground rules for scientific study of the Bible. He wrote foundational works in spirituality, apologetics, and fundamental theology. In this episode, we look at those big accomplishments, but also examine the ideas that got him into trouble. Do souls exist before they get bodies? Does Satan get saved in the end? Does allegory trump history when we read the Bible? And did Origen really say all these things anyway? Find out why the Man of Steel is just as controversial today as he was almost two millennia ago.

Origen may have been wrong about where mold comes from, how clean water can be, concept of gravity, what stars are, and why the sky is blue but in his heart he was right with God.

🤺☦🇷🇺That's not the issue here at all, and he was actually right about all those issues. Look, Catholic brothers, the fact of the matter is very simple, and you shouldn't complicate it by saying he was both great Christian thinker and heretic at the same time, that is totally false. The correct view is that Origen in his first and prime years was a holy man, writing by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, but he got corrupted and the Spirit left him, then he started making mistakes, and 1 of those was totally heretical, and ONLY because of it, he, rightfully so, lost veneration as a saint and church father, for crossing a red line: the moment you say that the Bible, even in just 1 part is "allegory", you're finished, since that's the biggest heresy equal to saying "God is not real" (and I mean in the biblical NARRATIVE, not the parts that are clearly parables told by Prophets or allegory in songs, and decorative expressions, so don't even start lol). We Orthodox love and respect you Catholics, not the Protestant pagaпs. Protestants aren't Christians
      ☦🤝✝️

@@EasternOrthodox101 we can agree to disagree. I consider protestants brethren that still don't know the fullness of the truth

@@DavidRodriguez-er4rq How can you say such a thing? Protestants are lost souls just as all pagans, and need of repentance and conversion, that is beside the point too, bro. As a Catholic you should take it back, because Protestantism is even worse than secularism (which it spawned in the 1st place anyway). Protestants worship the antisemitic Antichrist Martin Lucifer, the Trojan horse, and call him Jesus, and they spit on our holy traditions and holy church fathers. Protestants aren't Christians just like Zionists aren't Jews💁

@10:35 'God created each individual as a pure spirit like the Angels. Those who failed the test by God were punished and put into a human body.'
Could his idea partly have sprung from Psalm 8:4-5?
"what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
You have made them a little lower than the angels"
That it is only the humans who received Jesus' sacrifice, who are returned to the heavenly fold?
Working from the Bible as the single inerrant source of All Life on Earth, Origen's conjecture's appear logical and deeper than most.
