Love the commentary. I'm not a female or a wildfire druid or a troll. I am an avid gamer and I've forgotten more about old-school Battletech than most people will ever learn. Josh we would be beasties. Let's play!!!
I shake my head every time , why do people sillily sacrifice their lights so easily ? My regular opponent always does it too last week he took 2 Kingfishers , a Mad Dog , a Stormcrow and an Artic Cheetah vs my Kingfisher , Nova Cat , Mad Dog , Shadow Cat and Battle Cobra sure enough 1st turn he just charges the Artic Cheetah forward right in front of my whole star which id cunningly hid from the rest of his forces .......... boom Artic Cheetah is dead straight away for a couple of ER Medium hits on my Battle Cobra . I never do this hell my Nova Cat in the same battle didnt hesitate to jump back over a hill to avoid getting teabagged by a Kingfisher which he later kicked to death because I kept him alive
@@TheBoardGameKaptain wading forward to your death is just a battletech theme i guess , people quickly forget they are playing Chess not Hero Hammer editions of Warhammer Fantasy
@@mathewkelly9968 lol we have a player that loves King crabs but he just walks slowly at us making it so easy to pick apart before it gets those nasty ac 20 into range...seems there's one in every group :-)
Interesting. Me and the buddy who got into BT at the same time as me haven't had that. In fact, we tend to spend more effort on maxing our TMM than anything else. The only time wading in determinedly was a thing was doing the "two lights and a medium vs a Battlemaster" scenario from the beginner's box
Weird me and my mate always choose the short edges to deploy from , stops you getting alpha striked turn 1 and probably turn 2 as well . 1/2 pilots is a bit outrageous too should be reserved for like 1 guy a company that's above 'elite' skill level which is 2/3
Great battle with some proper elite pilots, the damage was ridiculous but that's what happens with such good stats :-) did you use the goliath go prone for free move to help it hide from incoming fire, if the opponent isn't right next to you they have a harder time to hit you...probably the best thing with the 4 leggers, we let the 4 leggers shoot when prone too as their weapons are on their back :-)
I was talking with Lynn before Matt came over about how I was going to surprise him by doing that as he'd never played against a quad mech before... and then I forgot to do it.
People use different tools to quickly reference attacker and target modifiers. I saw some cool custom dice for sale online, and I had some blank dice around from prototyping game ideas, so I decided to make my own. Each die face gives you the modifier for the particular mech for the mode of movement it chose and the modifier for enemies to fire at it, both at a glance.
Great battle report, Look forward to seeing more of them. I also have to say your King Crab looks extremely menacing!
Thanks very much! I do hope to find time to film some more.
Good game. Great stuff.
Glad you enjoyed it. We had a lot of fun filming this one.

It's easier to set the camera up for filming this way.

Matt in the house! Are write on dice a common thing people do in Battletech?

@@TheBoardGameKaptain that's next level. Whenever I get to O.G. Battletech, I'll be sure to use that
I use dice like that as well. Makes it very easy to see what's going on.
