Can you lot not get it into your heads that an opera "star" is someone who can perform the role on stage repeatedly without a microphone, PROJECT and also create a character whilst having to sing in incredibley awkward positions. This garbage is not about an Opera Star! Think of Domingo, Callas, Nillson, Hotter, Rennee Fleming Joan Sutherland. The list goes on, but does not inclued the no doubt sexy Ms Nolan! Its only because her audience haven't heard any of the above that they are cheering !
I love watching people sing opera who are just having fun. Opera is a joy to behold, and it's really great no matter how well they singer is. Getting people more interested in opera is something great. And by getting this people to experience this music is something I LOVE. Sure they're not opera stars and maybe never will be, but they'll now understand what opera singers go through.
Even professional opera singers use microphones now, because venues are simply too big now for them to effectively project their voices to every space in the room.
